Publix or Walmart for groceries?

The food in the publix deli is delicious and so is the bakery. Much better than in most other stores. Especially for vacation I would shop there. When we stayed in the cabins at Ft Wilderness one year we did go to Publix and bought cinnamon rolls and pastries from the bakery for breakfast and then a rotisserie chicken, potato salad etc from deli. Plus deli subs and chicken salad etc. SO good and made it more exciting to eat back in the cabin and felt like less of a sacrifice to avoid meals in the parks.

I buy everything we think we need at Meijer and take it to Disney with us. None of the Florida grocery stores can touch Meijer prices.

If we need anything while there, it's usually Supertarget for us. Publix has a good bakery though. Winn Dixie's prices are higher than convenience stores around here. Walmart is just too much of a mess and the prices never scan correctly.

We do our weekly shopping at Walmart. We try to avoid the one on 535 if at all possible because it is always so busy. That said, the one on 27 also is touristy. When we started shopping at Walmart we couldn't believe our savings!

Walmart is a good 15/20 mins away so we do any last minute things at one of the two Publix stores that are 3 minutes away.

Actually, last week or so we were in the area so we went to the one on 535 to pick up some turkey for lunches and ended up with two new car seats, so I guess we spent more than we would have at Publix. The pattern is being discontinued so they were half off and they only had 4! You can't hate that!

We use Publix but dry goods are a better buy at WalMart. I never, never buy meats/fish/poultry at a WalMart.
