PTR Ticking the boxes - Europe May 2013-update DLP

You're eating Japanese in S-P-A-I-N????

Why.....why......why.........that's like eating Spanish in Japan!!! :faint:

(Plans look great! I take back Scotland. I'd rather go to Spain.)

and returning for teeth cleaning etc,

You really are a list maker :rotfl2:

Your plans for Singapore, Scotland and Spain look great. I'm also a massive fan of architecture (you are going to love, love, love Barcelona) and only so-so on art galleries. Having said that, did you think about including the Dali museum in Figueres? It's about 1 1/2 hours out of Barcelona and was a real highlight for us. You can even claim a Disney connection with Dali!

Looking forward to reading more popcorn::

Oh I would SO go to the Dali Museum! Your plans are all sounding great, can't wait for the TR!

On a side note, reading all these TRs and PTRs of everyone else's trips to Europe is making me feel very uncultured :rotfl: While I very much enjoyed the architecture and general sculptures in Europe, I don't think we went to a single museum, not even the Louvre!

You really are a list maker :rotfl2:

Guilty as charged!!

Would quite like to pop out to Figueres but see how time goes-there's always another trip....

and yes PIO-sorry. In Athens one of our best meals were noodles from a place a couple of doors down-we ended up going back a second time, this time for take-away and eating them on our hotel rooftop terrace with stunning views of the Acropolis as the sunset and the lights came on. In Japan there were as many Italian restaurants as there were Japanese-noodles-pasta-I can see some resemblance?? I see amongst the top recommended in TA for Barcelona Italian and Argentinean feature highly!! but don't worry we will eat plenty of Spanish food too I am sure!! Now I just have to make sure I remember I have an obligation to keep the ravening readers well fed with food porn lest they come through my wifi and attack me....

I resemble that remark! :snooty:

Here is our hotel rooftop terrace and its views when in Athens in 2010 (not really food porn sorry folks but pretties...)

Love the rooftop terrace! I would definitely have gotten takeaway and eaten there too ::yes::

It was a great little hotel, right in the Plaka but back a street or two in a quiet zone. One of our most favourite memories was the first morning when we went for an early wander as the city woke up (while DD slept in)-only people about shop owners starting to open up, bread deliveries and little old ladies washing down their steps - and lots of cats. As the sun rose the walls of the Acropolis and the old churches glowed golden. It was like being the first one in WDW for a CP breakfast before WDW opened and Main St is empty but has that expectant look.

Our whole trip in 2010 was totally amazing-we also stayed in a stunning traditional cave apartment looking out at the crater from Oia in Santorini with the most friendly hosts. We still get postcards from them regularly and wish we could have gone back this time but repeat vs the new..always a dilemma. We also had 3 days in Istanbul and loved it too. I feel so lucky that we have been able to do this upcoming trip so soon after the last couple.

Love the photos from your hotel in Athens :thumbsup2

Understand what you mean about repeat or new.
We try to always go somewhere different, but there are always places wher ethere are exceptions to the rule;)

Bit the bullet and rang DLP restaurant reservations-booked into Agrabah Cafe for a late buffet lunch on Tuesday and could only get a dinner booking for Walts - for Thursday-got the impression not opening lunchtime some days that week for some reason-but yaay!

Sounds like you've got meals to look forward to. :thumbsup2

We all LOVED Walt's! We were the opposite though, could only get a lunch reservation. Dinner would be just lovely :goodvibes

We didn't do Agrabah Cafe (or any buffet style meal for that matter) so can't comment there, but I've heard it's pretty good :thumbsup2

Hi!

I'm here!
Your plans look great! You must be getting very excited ... So close now
:)

Starting to go through the computer printing off stuff we might need in hardcopy and consolidating it in a folder for the e-version. Also starting to make a LIST ::yes:: for all the stuff I need to buy next trip to the Chemist Warehouse. Getting closer...thinking its time to start piling up bits and bobs in a corner of the bedroom of things to pack...then it feels like its really happening soon!! Can't decide what Ts to take though and do I want a long sleeve (we will have a thermal each just in case) for Scotland or cold snaps. (Talking of which it was FREEZING here Sat night-11C-bit of a shock to this Qld bod.)

That's warmer than Melbourne! :rotfl:

Happy Packing!

I know my SIL was just there, down from Darwin for work-related purpose for a couple of days-she said she froze-only had sandals etc as she owns no winter gear living up there. Told her if she is going to make many trips with her new position she needs to invest in a decent pair of boots and jacket! She always scavenges jumpers off of us and her sis if she visits us in winter.

LOVE the Chemist Warehouse visit.... Such fun!

As I am not working at the moment, DH woke me with a kiss and a cup of coffee before he left this am, and the words-this day in 2 weeks time we'll be getting ready for our first full day in Disneyland Paris! :love2:
