PTR JULY 2012: I talked my way into another Disney Day! 6-30

:cheer2::cheer2::cheer2::cheer2:

You are so awesome! Great job!!!! And you even took pictures!

Hope you're not too sore tomorrow.

:cheer2::cheer2::cheer2::cheer2:

Thanks! Aside from one very large blister, I didn't feel too bad. My legs were a little stiff two days later, but I was sure to use advil.

I wish I took more pics (it seemed like I was taking more).

Great job, Debbie!!!

Thanks!

Way to go, :jumping1:

and way to represent the lime green! :earsgirl:

I thought the lime green was a cool touch! I have a pair of run Disney shorts that my bff bought me, but they aren't as comfortable as my other shorts.

Way to go!!!! :worship::worship: I am registered for the ToT ten miler...but I doubt I will be able to run the entire thing. Your ran the entire 10 miles? :worship::worship: I can only run a couple minutes at a time... 2 hours? :worship::worship:

Thanks! Trust me. When I started running a year ago, I would have never believed I could run for 30 min let alone 120!

Just build up. I recommend Jeff Galloway's training program. It's on the Disney website.

I can easily run five/ six with my friend time permitting. Prior to the ten miles - my longest run was 8.25, and I had run 7-8 miles three times.

During the race the last two miles were the hardest, but I knew I could run them. It would be funny to see what I looked like running them...I must have been in slow motion!

I want to do the Princess Half. I'm not going to make myself run though. My plan is to run when I want - like on the highways, and enjoy the scenic park and characters at other times. With the pace being 16 min miles...I will be fine running a couple of ten minute miles and walking for some , running some more, etc. The average of run/walk will surely be faster than a 14 min mile.

One of my daughters' best friends is in Disney. Her mom and I arranged it so that Paige would be at the Epcot pay phones. My girls called her. It was so cute; Paige was so surprised.

She wouldn't give us her name and then finally did. Then, the girls told her that it was Emma and Hannah. She said, "Wait. What is your last name?" My girls were hysterical.

Gotta love being the person who knows the numbers of the phone booths in England!

Now, at the same time, I have my work friend who is also there with her SIL and both families. (She is a long time friend of the mom above...but I don't think they are really seeing each other in Disney...)

I laid out a whole itinerary for her before they left. I keep checking in with her and they are having a blast. She said that they would have been lost without my plan. (I'm sure they would have managed, but it is nice that she thinks it is helping them!)

So, I am vicariously living through two other people's Disney vacations!:wizard:

Love it! DH thinks it's funny that I have the numbers - but it's so much fun to use them! Last time we were there, we sat at that fountain taking a break and I had a good time messing with the kids playing in the phone booths. :rotfl2:

I remember you talking about the moms and friends or the mom-friends who were going. I'm glad to hear they are having a good time!!!

Where did they end up staying?? I'm sure your planning for them has been EXTREMELY helpful! :thumbsup2

One of my friends texted this morning to express her sadness about leaving! She wants to hear about DVC upon returning...They'd been to Disney a handful of times and had already been addicted to pixie dust!

The friend from school posted many awesome pictures on Facebook. Her family (extended group of ten - six kids - four adults...) stayed at a family time share for free. One of the posts was of the kids at Beach Club's Stormalong Bay...The above friend was staying there.

I texted her and said, "How'd you get in to swim?" Beach Club checks key cards if you are just walking into the area to talk to your family!

She said they acted like they knew what they were doing... haha...God love her. She is one of those people who the rules don't apply (through no urging of her own) and apparently, at Disney, it is no different. Really, ten people swimming at Beach Club without question???

I texted her yesterday to ask where they were spending their last day...she said at the resort - they were exhausted. I decided that they weren't addicted to the pixie dust.

So, today, I am watching Disney World info shows (instant download on netflix) and hanging out. I have some sort of bug. I am contemplating visiting the minute clinic to rule out strep- my throat is sore (2nd day).

If I can muster the energy, I want to plan another day of our trip. I have to really figure out our dining!

Oh- PS - I did get my bracelet!!! :cool1:

Yay for the bracelet. Sorry you are feeling under the weather. I can't wait for Disney. We have about 21 more days of school. I can't wait for this school year to be over. It's been a really long year.

Hope you are feeling better - no fun being sick.

So glad you got the bracelet! Did you post pictures and I missed it?

I think it is so cool that your daughters called their friend at the phone booth in England - what a great idea!

I totally understand about living vicariously through others' trips - since I have become a travel agent I do it even more -:rotfl:

I am leaving tomorrow morning for my agent training program at WDW - I am so excited, will try to keep up on the Dis while I am gone.

It has been a long year at our school too! I'm so excited for summer!

I was helping a teacher at school plan her August trip. She said, "Why don't you do this for a living?" I laughed and said because it doesn't pay enough. I don't want to give the time over to do it part time. Maybe when the girls are older or if I win the lottery!!

Have a fantastic time (I am sure you will have such a blast!) I'm seeing a visit to the Art of Animation in this trip--is that accurate--will they take you for a tour there?

Happy Mother's Day!!!

I went to the minute clinic yesterday - I had a strong feeling which was accurate. I have strep. Fortunately, I think I got it early enough to feel better quickly.

The bracelet is beautiful!

Yes, this is a really fun job. I could not support myself on it, at least not yet - lol.

I am sure it will be fun. The AoA tour was not in the preliminary schedule, but they said we would receive an updated schedule tomorrow. I know they have toured it with some other groups for promotional reasons....I hope!!! It looks amazing!

So sorry to hear it is strep, but hopefully since you caught it early it won't get too bad. Get lots of rest today.

Happy Mother's Day to you!! Sorry to hear you have strep, hope you start feeling better soon. I am glad that you got your bracelet. I just finished my trip report so I will be doing my PTR soon if your still interested in helping with should we do dining or not. There will be other similar question as well. I hope you had a great day in spite of your sickness.

Hope you are feeling better and have enjoyed your Mother's Day!

I've thought about doing the travel agent thing, but I don't think my school hours would allow me to be on the phone to get ADR's for people and all of that kind of stuff. Maybe when I retire.

Thanks. I have to hop over to your trip report. I only been able to stay on top of a couple with our schedule. You are going love your Dec trip!

I certainly mothered yesterday...:headache: it's the most important job in the world, and I feel so inept sometimes! :artist:

I think that when you retire, you should most certainly be a Disney planner!

sorry to hear about the strep--i just got a positive test friday too and started antibiotics, yeah

it would be fun to be Disney travel agent

I hope the meds work quickly for you! I am rarely ill, so I don't like to complain. I am trying to slow down and rest to get better. Sitting in bed with the laptop sounds like what the doctor ordered. (Well to an extent...I really have to give myself a time limit.)

I have the couch to 5k loaded on my phone and have been using that. My friend who I plan to do the ToT run with is using runkeeper (she really likes it) I just wish there was an ap for the galloway plan. I know I printed out the schedule they have for the ToT run... but running without a program to tell me to start and stop is how I fell and broke my hand... so I HAVE to have something that talks to me. :rotfl: It is dangerous otherwise. I suppose I could set up the runkeeper with the times and distance suggested by the galloway plan.

So you have only been running a year? You give me hope...

Very cool that you were able to help your friends out and live vicariously through them.:thumbsup2

Very cool that you got the bracelet!!! What a find!!!:woohoo:

I figured it would be a good time to start learning about a country each time we visited the World...

I picked China for this summer. We've never explored China.

(None of these photos are mine. I searched Google images -- you can see the sites they should be attirbuted to in properties.)

First, we will see the film.

Reflections_of_China_at_Epcot.jpg

And, I thought before we go, it would be a good idea to check out a book and learn a bit about the tomb warriors and the Qin Dynasty.

Qin-shi-Huangdi-004.jpg

I found The emperor's silent army : terracotta warriors of Ancient China / Jane O'Connor is available at our local library (children's section).

index.php

We also will have to eat Chinese food (yeah, because we've never done that...:rolleyes1 - Not in Disney- Okay, Sunshine Seasons doesn't count...)

So, I was considering Nine Dragons, but I think we will just do the Lotus Blossom Cafe so I am not locked into any specific time.

Of course, we need to experience the characters here too:

I think Mushu might be hard to see.

Entertainment in China will be fun. I didn't know that they performed in the temple when it is raining...good tip.

Lastly, we will hit the store, Yong Feng Shangdian Department store:

--------------------------------------------------------------------
I haven't figured out when this will go into the agenda. I've changed my planning approach. (I've been having a hard time planning the typical way--a planning block--as you know.) I figure I will decide on the new plans and decide where to fit them in when I've figured them out. ;):flower3:

I forgot to mention life updates for May...

The girls made their soccer team. Essentially, the teams pushed kids down to lower teams, so their team is the same with some kids from a higher division added. They should grow as players and have a great year!

They performed well in their band concert last week.

They have a Chorus concert tomorrow. Motown songs- should be fantastic (for an elementary school concert...).

Friday, they are performing in their talent show. They went to their friend's house today (She came home from Disney on Sat.) but they didn't practice...:( Their friend brought them back pins and lollipops.

That should finish the rush of May.

We are only 27 days away from our June cruise!

My friend who I plan to do the ToT run with is using runkeeper (she really likes it) I just wish there was an ap for the galloway plan. ::yes::

I hope you feel better. Strep is not fun, but luckily it is one of those things that once you start a course of antibiotics you feel better really quick.

:flower3:

Very cool that you got the bracelet!!! What a find!!!:woohoo:

I use mapmyrun. You can set it to talk to you at different intervals. Mine is set for a mile. I used Nike+ for the race. :headache: The GPS was off, so it was telling me I was farther than I was. I finally shut it off. It would say: Only four miles to go (I set it at ten mile distance) when I really had closer to five...

I think it you go out to run/ walk three miles the voice telling you mileage would work. I think a modified approach to Galloway may be the way to go.

I run based on how I feel. So I would suggest that you pick the distance- run as much as you can. walk. and run again when ready.

I have a two-mile loop in my neighborhood. I would run/ walk/ run/ walk until I was able to run the whole thing. There is a hill that I still sometimes choose to walk.

Hello! I happened to stumble upon your PTR, and then, when I was updating mine, see you showed up over there! SO HOWDY! You get to Disney after we leave, but I always enjoy reading about other plans, so it is fun to see all that is going on over here! I was an HS English teacher, btw, several years ago... now an admin. BUT, I work with HS kids and so I understand the lament of May and testing!!!

So cute your daughters, my oldest son is in 4th grade, too... he is going to be 10 in mid-june.

Happy Planning, and I hope you feel better soon!

Oh! China! What a great way to explore and make your way around the Wshowcase.... Also, did you hear about Perry the Platypus taking over for Kim Possible???

Studying the countries ahead of time is a neat idea.

yeah for the girls making soccer.
