PTR August 2012! (almost there!!)

As recommended by another post, I bought two travel bottles of Evian spray water and St. Tropez tanning mousse from Sephora online, since I'm about as tan as a ghost at the HM, but also has no patience to sit out and tan, to only get burnt!

Still waiting for them in the mail, but I'll update to let you know how they worked, hoping I don't turn out to be an oompah loompah- If all else fails, I'll just join the cast of Jersey Shore, since the house is a few minutes down the road from me :rotfl:

So I plan to stock up on all my toiletries, medicines, etc... and stick them in my new VB hanging organizer, see http://disboards.com/showthread.php?t=2929910, compliments of DBF!

Like all good Disney travellers, I'm saving up some hard-earned money for lots of Disney souvenirs.

First up, MICKEY EARS!

These are our Mickey ears that we got in 2009, with our names embroidered on the back of course :)

Steamboat Mickey and Old-fashioned Minnie :goodvibes

DBF says that we need to get new ones when we go, (since you know, he was never really into WDW in the first place ;)) I got him hooked!

So tell me, what are you favorite Mickey ears to wear? DBF is a big Star Wars fan, I'm hoping he gets some r2d2 ears, I still like my Minnie ones, but what's out there right now? :confused3

When I went to Disney back in 2009 I bought these ears:

I find them so girly and cute!!! :)

Dramamine is a must!!! I get motion sick instantly on the plane! Fortunately, I am a ride junkie and I'm not affected there....

but what I really want to know is if anyone has tried anything other than Dramamine, it knocks me out cold for hours and I feel groggy and lethargic the ENTIRE day and I would like to be somewhat coherent and alert during our arrival :drive:

Just reading this now. I followed your link from the August thread.:)
Dh gets really motion sick too and really likes the non-drowsy Bonine. It's been a life saver for us on several occasions. One seems to do the trick.

ETA) And regarding the flip flops. I too brought the Yoga Mats. I find them really comfortable at home but with all the walking at Disney I got shin splints and was in agony for the entire second day :(
So, if you have arch/leg issues at all you are probably better off with the Reef ones. They look a little sturdier.

We're also going August! We are going the 19-26 and staying across the lake from you guys! Hope you have lots of fun!

I have heard of Bonine and glad you mentioned it, I guess it's worth giving a try. I have always used Dramamine since I was little and it just completely knocks me out, no recollection of an entire day, before and after taking the medicine. I will try it, thanks for the recommendation! :thumbsup2

:goodvibes More August-goers! Thanks for joining in! and Thank you, you too!

Had our first over 90 degree day in NJ today, and I think I need some encouragement for the weather come August. I may just melt! Although I was wearing work clothes, standing on a hot playground with 10 children from 2-3 wanting to hang on me- I can happily say that that will not be an issue in Disney :cool1:

Anyway, I just wanted to update and say that I signed up for touringplans.com and I have to say it kinda stresses me out! I am a super list-maker, over-planner, over-analyzer, however the list that I finally had after making my touring plans daunts me :sad2:!

I think I will use it as a guide, but following it to a T may stress me out while I'm there. It gives me plans to be where at what time, to the minute. Has anyone tried this site? What are your thoughts? :confused3

On a side note- anyone have a good place to go to get cute, casual sundresses? Preferably cotton or some other light-weight fabric? Got one from Old Navy, but ordering online with them is iffy with sizing., I'll be a medium in one thing and an XL in another and I hate sending things back in the mail! Ugh! I am looking at my closet thinking that I seriously need to stock up on summer dresses!

So after consulting with touringplans.com a little bit, at least on the days to go to which parks, I think I am going to do...

Tuesday 8/14- arrive MCO at around 10:50, get to POP, relax, explore, yada yada- Dinner at Raglan Road () at 7 PM

Wednesday 8/15- MK day, dinner at 6:30 Tony's Town Square

Thursday 8/16- Epcot day, dinner at 6 PM Le Cellier

Friday 8/17- AK day, dinner at 6:30 Rose and Crown

Saturday 8/18- HS day, dinner at 7 PM Marrakesh

Sunday 8/19- Epcot day, dinner at 5:30 Biergarten

Monday 8/21- MK day, dinner at 5:30 Chefs de France

Pretty much the same as OP, give or take a couple of days. DBF is convinced that we are trekking it throughout the entire day at a park, with no break to rest and go back to the resort, :confused3, he's out of his mind! We are not, I REPEAT, are not following his plan! This is why I make the arrangements on vacation and beyond in this relationship :rotfl:

I so wish that we were staying longer, maybe next time, maybe for our eventual honeymoon :rolleyes1 (cross your fingers)! I would only like to see the Electrical Parade, Wishes would be nice, but it's not absolutely necessary. Those are the plans for now at least! :thumbsup2

:cool1:

With two months to go, DBF and I have started to put together some of the things that we have already bought for the trip (see above) and went to Target to stock up little by little.

First up- the essential Wet Ones, I keep these in my car and constantly use them! We got the big pack for our room and some of these for my purse. They are great when you need to clean your hands quickly!

Absolutely necessary!

Next up, I use these all the time too, but they are really perfect on vacation!
Neutrogena Makeup Remover. I have to admit, I don't think I'll be wearing my makeup, even if I do, I'm sure it'll melt off before I get to the bus stop, but these leave your face feeling clean and refreshed regardless! :)

They usually have them in next to the cash registers at my favorite store (Target ) for those last minute, just gotta have purchases! I pick up a few of the small packs for a little over a dollar. Perfect!

Saw Dr. Oz talking about great sunblock to use in the summer months...still looking around before I buy. What are some great ones that you use in the Florida sun?

Bought a face stick to start me off, 50 spf, Banana Boat Sport, but looking for a body lotion or spray and a small bottle to bring with me to reapply in the parks.

:cutie:

This was a gift from DBF and it is perfect for Disney (bought for that reason :thumbsup2)

My new Kodak PlaySport

I could not be any easier to use! You just click back and forth between still camera and video camera and click the center button to start, take the picture, or finish.

My last camera was a hassle, between switching the settings and taking the actual picture, the moment was gone. This camera is perfect with my kids in the classroom, they are constantly on the move, and it works great when I want to get a picture of them in action! It has a quick shutter speed!

I was worried that the pictures wouldn't come out so nice since it's primarily a video camera, but good thing I had a good test guy to help me solve that problem...

Anyway, the pictures on it come out pretty well! Between the pre-purchase of the photopass cd and this, I'll be set with pictures and memories for this trip :cool1:

We get there the day after you!! We'll be in the same park on 8/17, 8/18, and 8/19!! I based it on the touringplans crowd calendar too. I've used it the past 2 times and it works great. I suggest you getting the Lines app on your phone. We'll be using it on our trip. You plug the attractions you want to do each day into the app and it'll plan your route. And you can update it as you go based on changes you make or on the latest crowd information. I just started a PTR today for our trip and I'll be posting pictures of my family soon (and adding a link to my signature). Maybe we'll see each other in the parks!

That's funny! I plan to get the app on my phone! I hope it'll help! I'm worrying about big crowds! I'll have to come by and check out your PTR! :)

I am enjoying the PTR and love the pictures of the items. The t-shirts are absolutely adorable. Wonder if DH will wear one :rotfl2: For summer dresses, check out Dress Barn, Target, and even Macy's. I have found some great ones there. Now you have me thinking if I should wear dresses for my trip in August..hmmm.
