PSP "needs" a software update?

MY wife bought me a new PSP game. I haven't bought a new game since it was released. This is like my 4th game. A message come up when I try to play it that I "need a software update before I can play the game". All my old games play OK.

So I guess it is a firmware update?

How do I do this? I no longer have the manual.

the needed software update is on the game disc..

scroll around on the menu where the game icon is... you should see another icon that says software update (or something)... you need to be plugged into your a/c adapter when you do the update..

the software update has all kids of cool stuff.. internet browser.. etc..

You may also update it online on Sony's homepage for the psp. As I have Wi-Fi at my place I usually simply log on my PSP to my netwerkork and download/update everything wireless. Or you can download it to your computer, save it to a Memory Stick and update from there, but as said before: You need to have the PSP connected to the A/C-adaptor.
