i just wanna say hi
, i have P and PA. diagnosed in jan '06 (seems the stress of my dad's death and then katrina 6 months later did it). the PA started after i had my son in 12/08.
i've used the creams (taclonex, clobetasol), i've used the stuff for the scalp (yuck), i've done some sort of tape to put on spots over nite, i've done the cream all over and wrapped in saran wrap (hot as hades!), i've done the light box (for once in my life i wasn't a blinding white girl! lol), i've done soaking in dead sea salt (that i ordered from israel), i've done cortizone shots, i've done humira and now i'm on enbrel.
*catches breath*
i'm 70% covered and with the cold weather this past month, i've been so miserable. i'm on dose 4 of enbrel and it seems to be working...slowly.
i went through 2 derm's and finally my new one is wonderful! he took one look at me and handed me the humira RX...after a 6 month struggle to get it with the 1st 2. oh...and my new derm has psoriasis. he's tried everything too. i travel from new orleans to baton rouge to see him, that's how awesome he is.
i found the taclonex is wonderful when i have a really bad itchy spot. my hubby has psoriasis on his elbows and uses it, so i can just steal a dab of his.
cetaphil lotion is also great. sometimes it'll burn, but if you just let it pass, it really does feel better. chocolate also helps with the pain
soaking in the dead sea salt is nice too. makes you really soft and i did notice the red didn't look so harsh. i also took some and made a salt scrub...i think it would have worked, but i seemed to be allergic to one of the oils.
for bathing...johnson and johnson's baby soap. think about it...if it's gentle enough for a baby, it's gentle with horrible red splotches. best thing i figured out when i had my son!
humira worked for about a month with clearing the spots. it worked all the time with the PA.
enbrel is starting to work, i'm a lovely shade of pink with white dry patches. lol i really like enbrel more than humira. the humira shot hurts something fierce. enbrel is a more gentle-r shot.
oh and when i was pregnant, my P cleared up. guess i have to do that again. lol
if anybody has any questions, just PM me. i've tried a bunch of stuff.
