If you use any type of nasal irrigation (Neil Med, Nasopure, etc.), make sure you don't forget the salt!

I have a cold and so decided to use the Neil Med Sinus Rinse. I filed it with warm water, shook it, etc. Only thing was, I wasn't paying attention and forgot the salt. Let's just say it will clear your nasal passages, it also hurts like hell! That is one mistake I will not be making again! :rotfl:

Also, if you live in the South or use well water, they recommend not using tap water. Apparently Louisiana has had several deaths related to an amoeba that is commonly found in their water. It is harmless if you ingest by mouth, but if it gets in your nose, it causes a brain infection similar to meningitis. Authorities recommend using distilled or purified water. You can find moe about this "brain-eating amoeba" here.

If you read the directions that come with it they state that you should always use distilled water not tap.
