I'm definately not getting a PS3, this might actually be the end for Sony. They keep pushing back the release, due to manufacturer problems. The price is going to be nuts, I'm guessing it will cost roughly $499 or more meaning Sony will probably lose around $300-400 on each system. Plus trying to put these components together quickly to get them out on the market will probably cause some hefty defects. We'll just have to wait and see how this plays out.
I can't wait for the Revolution though. It has backwards compatibility throughout the Nintendo library, plus all the popular games that were on the Sega consoles. The controller is completely innovative, and I'm excited to see how that will play out. It will be able to interact with the DS, plus has WiFi. It's also small, and recent graphic screenshots are comparable to the Xbox 360. Plus the price will be around $199 or less.
Sony has officially announced the World Wide Release date as this November. Pre-ordering should start soon. I've heard the price could be under $400, although games will probably be $60+. And you want to talk about releasing too early? Talk about the Xbox 360. I dunno. I've seen PS3 games while they were being played. My only reaction was :-O
It wasn't like that for the 360. It was more like a yawn for it actually. I wasn't blown away from the graphics. The only thing I was impressed by was the controller actually.
As for the Revolution, well I'll definately get one. I think it will sell well seeing as how it's expected to be the cheapest one, and Nintendo does have a huge backing. Add in the gaming library, and you will sell a lot of consoles. I think though, that the new controller will scare away a ton of people. Yes you can use GameCube controllers, I think, but still. I also don't think online play will be up to par with Microsoft and Sony. Remember, Nintendo sort of grudgingly put it on there, and this will be their first shot at online play. I havn't seen the gameplay, so I don't know about the Graphics.
So in a nutshell, I think the PS3 will sell the most, with the 360 and Revolution close, close behind. So yeah. PS3 to win by a nose.
As for me though. I can't wait until I'm rocking my PS3 playing WWE Smackdown Vrs. Raw 2007, which looks amazing, and Vision Gran Turismo, which also looks un-real.
Oh and also, the PS3 is apparently shipping out 100 million units worldwide, so you shouldn't see a shortage as bad as with the 360.
