So I was talking to my mom today, and I told her I want a Playstation 3 for christmas. She said she was already planning on getting me one. She said she was originally going to get me an xbox 360, but changed her mind when her boyfriend, who works in the electronics department at Wal-Mart, reminded her that the PS3 will be coming out in November.

So yeah, I talked to her, and she is going to pre-order me a PS3 for Christmas. :smokin:

I saw some games on there, and I was like.... :-o

Now I just need my dad to update to the 21st century, and get an HDTV.

I have a 360 right now but im prolly going to buy a ps3 too. i really like the whole idea of it being a WiFi hotspot, it will work well with my PSP..I still prefer xbox though due to the fact that i compete in halo so i kinda have to like it lol. the nintendo revolution looks really bad though, the innovative controller is a big mistake.

I wasn't impressed with the 360. I didn't see how it was any better.

Also the Revolution will be awsome. The big selling point to me is how you can download old games. I cant wait to play Mike Tyson's Punchout and Super Mario Brothers 3.

Also the controller, who knows? It could be like, the best thing ever. :confused3 But even if you don't like the new controller, you can use GC controllers.

I'm definately not getting a PS3, this might actually be the end for Sony. They keep pushing back the release, due to manufacturer problems. The price is going to be nuts, I'm guessing it will cost roughly $499 or more meaning Sony will probably lose around $300-400 on each system. Plus trying to put these components together quickly to get them out on the market will probably cause some hefty defects. We'll just have to wait and see how this plays out.

I can't wait for the Revolution though. It has backwards compatibility throughout the Nintendo library, plus all the popular games that were on the Sega consoles. The controller is completely innovative, and I'm excited to see how that will play out. It will be able to interact with the DS, plus has WiFi. It's also small, and recent graphic screenshots are comparable to the Xbox 360. Plus the price will be around $199 or less.

I am going for the Revolution, but congrats on the PS3, some pretty great graphics on there. I am really looking forward to the free online Super Smash Bros and Metroid. Also there is this game called Red Steel developed by Ubisoft. It is a bit more adult oriented. It is a sword/gun action game that involves the mafia and sounds too have some great AI and physics. And for only being 2-3 times as powerful as a GC, I was pleasantly surprised with the grapics. But who can doubt that when RE4 and Twillight Princess run on GC software. Let me find the link real fast. http://revolution.ign.com/articles/701/701171p1.html http://www.gameinformer.com/News/Story/200604/N06.0407.1251.24078.htm and some pics

Also at E3 last year, they had a demo of Metroid Prime 2 using revolution software. The developers that played it said it was one of the most fun and addicting things they have ever done. And yes the nostalgia factor will play a big role in the selling of this console.

Sony has officially announced the World Wide Release date as this November. Pre-ordering should start soon. I've heard the price could be under $400, although games will probably be $60+. And you want to talk about releasing too early? Talk about the Xbox 360. I dunno. I've seen PS3 games while they were being played. My only reaction was :-O

It wasn't like that for the 360. It was more like a yawn for it actually. I wasn't blown away from the graphics. The only thing I was impressed by was the controller actually.

As for the Revolution, well I'll definately get one. I think it will sell well seeing as how it's expected to be the cheapest one, and Nintendo does have a huge backing. Add in the gaming library, and you will sell a lot of consoles. I think though, that the new controller will scare away a ton of people. Yes you can use GameCube controllers, I think, but still. I also don't think online play will be up to par with Microsoft and Sony. Remember, Nintendo sort of grudgingly put it on there, and this will be their first shot at online play. I havn't seen the gameplay, so I don't know about the Graphics.

So in a nutshell, I think the PS3 will sell the most, with the 360 and Revolution close, close behind. So yeah. PS3 to win by a nose.

As for me though. I can't wait until I'm rocking my PS3 playing WWE Smackdown Vrs. Raw 2007, which looks amazing, and Vision Gran Turismo, which also looks un-real. :smokin:

Oh and also, the PS3 is apparently shipping out 100 million units worldwide, so you shouldn't see a shortage as bad as with the 360.

I also just had to share this with you all. This controller recently placed fifth on the top ten worst controllers of all time listed by IGN.

See the similarities?

Munky, Sony just recently shipped 100 million on the ps2, I don't think they can do it but who knows. I personally think that Nintendo will steal the show, as for the most part Sony has basically given away it's big guns. With the DSlite on display, Zelda playable on the Revolution, and the last secret to the Revolution will be revealed. Also at The Game Developers Conference, they also noted that Sega Genesis and Turbographx 16 games will be downloadable content for the VC. Nintendo has also stated that there are people signing on. There will a Revolution exclusive version of both Sonic and Spiderman (can you say webslinging) and Capcom has stated that while RE5 will not be on Revo due to the camera for which they created on RE4, they will release a Revolution Exclusive sometime later. Also there will be twenty launch titles on the revo, 6 of which are Nintendo made.

I would buy a ps3 in addition to my Revo, I just don't have the money.
There has been speculation for the ps3 that the cell processors alone will cost 400-500 dollars, hopefully sony can get the price down before long.

As a side note, back in the late 80's nintendo did have online play on the NES, but it was ahead of its time, just like the dance pad they also created. Another interesting tidbit, Nintendo broke worldwide records with the DS internet. They had over a million DIFFERENT signons in 3 months and 15 million log ins. It took Xbox Live much longer to do so, and if I remember correctly, it was 6-9 months. I would gladly be corrected though if I am wrong.

I have a GB color, advance, advance sp,and now a Ds. I plan to stick to them, and go no further!!!

I share a PS2 with my bro, but NEVER get to play it -glares at brother-

Well to be honest im more of a PC gamer if i have a choice...for the most part the graphics always jump ahead of the consoles after the first year the console is out...well if you have a nice graphics card. I just have my 360 for Halo 3 whenever it is it comes out, thats really the only reason i can think of lol.
But i never have been a nintendo fan and prolly never will...just dont like the game selection at all

The one thing I really don't care for, is when people say to only have a next gen, it has to have bigger and better graphics. That is exactly what people said with four players, rumble feature, and the analog stick. They also added the d pad and shoulder buttons. Do you imagine playing a console game without these things. I wasn't particulary talking about you DDR, but what I have seen throughout the internet.

I have a GameCube and Xbox. I play them each daily, but I dont play Xbox as much as GameCube because, its in my sister's room, and I dunno how to set it up (sad) and we play DDR in there too, but i get to play when she does. :teeth: I gave the Gameboys away awhile ago and never really 'advanced' in the new ones. :goodvibes

You'll be disapointed then. Both Bungi and Microsoft has denied that Halo 3 is in the works. But who knows?

I also remember where Micro said they wanted to release halo3 in time to match the launch of the ps3. lol, that would have to the most stupid thing I have heard. And they wanted to have over a billion users by the end of XBOX 360 life. 0_o

Pretty lofty goals there. A sixth of the planet playing Xbox. Never gunna make it.

i highly disagree, Halo is the most widely played shooter for console gaming, comming pretty close to counter-strike for pc. Not only that but Halo is also the standard game for professional gaming right now as far as consoles go... i wouldnt say it is a stupid decision to release along with the PS3...will it happen no bungie has said that falt out..As far saying Halo 3 will never come out thats completly miss informed. Bungie has made multiple hints on halo 3 and as it being xbox's biggest selling point there will certainly be one. Plus the fanbase for halo is so massive that bungie would be depriving themselves tons of money if they didnt....Halo 2 was not hinted at or anything until well into its development as will be the same way the do it for Halo3. The 360 is still in such high demand that microsofts "mistake" of not having enough release consoles has made more people want them then they would have had in the first place. Not being able to buy something makes a person want that item more making microsofts idea for a 2nd launch date genius in my opinion.
