PS Reservations ahead?

Hi!

Just wanted to get a sense of whether or not most people made their PS reservations for meals BEFORE they even left for WDW, or just did it after arriving. Does it make that much of a difference? Are you even allowed to make reservations before checking in?

I allways make at least 1 PS a day at the official marks. It helps me know what park on what day and it is sorta fun.... For the official days out check the home page on this site and go to dining. It will tell you how far in advance and the phone # and which ones are harder to get. I love being able to get in a park for breakfast before ot opens.... If you are going in off season and do not care about CM ot CRT or some of the harder ones you can usually walk up and get in but you may have to wait. It really comes down to what kind of person you are... a planner or a play it by ear.....Have fun!

I agree. It depends on if you're going during peak travel times and which restaurants you absolutely MUST eat at! The more popular ones (Character meals, etc.) usually book up pretty fast, so we make our reservations a couple of months before.

Priority Seating (PS) arrangements can be made as far as two years in advance (Hoop-Dee-Doo and Luau) but most are either 60 or 120 days in advance.

I always try to plan at least 1 ps a day before we go. This ensures we always have a restraunt to eat at. Some of the more pouplar ones do tend to get booked up fast. If there are some places you really want to eat at I would suggest getting a ps for that one to ensure you can get in.
If you go during slow times of year you may be able to get in. You can still make ps' when you get there from the parks or from your room phone.

I like PS, not only they allow me dine at my fav restaurant on the day and time I want, but also get me in the Disney mood right before I even left for the park.

You can easily cancel your PS if you change your mind afterwards. but make sure you cancel it on time to avoid unnecessary penalties.

WE usually travel to WDW in early June and either early December or January (all "off-season"). The only PSs I make before leaving are for "must do" meals and special events like the candlelight processional and MVMCP. We have no "set plans" as to which park which day, and usually will call for a lunch PS before we leave the room (or sometimes AFTER we enter the park!). It is rare that we cannot get a PS within 1/2 hour of our desired seating time.

So, if you enjoy the planning, make your PSs, if you're more the "play it by ear" vacationer wait - unless you're traveling at a peak time.
