:( We are going for a long weekend in May for Star wars weekends and a quick getaway trip. I have not made any PS's yet because I didn't know the hours of the parks or the events of the weekend...I am thinking of doing a lunch or two and maybe one late night dinner at California Grill or something...we're staying at the Swan so I know we can always go to beaches and cream...I need some food advice! :-) Thanks in advance

I too am going in May but still made my PS. If you have your heart set on a certain place, or plan to eat at MGM during the weekend of the events, I think you need to make some PS. Since Hollywood and Vine will be closed for lunch now, I think the other restraurants will take up the slack. I would suggest you make your lunch plans, which can always be changed or canceled later, but would be better to get them now. I have read a couple of threads that said folks are now not being able to get PS for the 50s prime time for lunch in May. After that, I called and got my PS, but only have a party of 2. If you're willing to be flexible, you may be able to make them the day before, but I've been in MGM during the star war events in 2000 and 2001 and MGM can be a mad house, OK, not as bad as during super soap weekend!

I agree - I doesn't cost anything to make them and they can always be changed. You'd be surprise how many times I've called a whole month in advance and not been able to get the time I want for a PS! Alot of people must do advance PS - it's good to have them. For dinners especially, I'm always glad I've made them when I'm standing at the podium in a restaurant and hear them tell people without them that the next available table will be in 2 hours!

When you get there if you see that there's something you'd rather do, check for availablity when you're there and change.

I am going to call in a little bit--here is what I am thinking: We are staying club level at the Swan...
Thursday: We fly out at 2:55 and arrive at around 5 ish--no dinner plans OR maybe O'hana or Yachtsman?

Firday: Star wars weekend begins...I say lunch at 50's primetime? then maybe dinner at Beaches and Cream? Or someplace in Epcot? Biergarten maybe?

Saturday: maybe lunch in one of the parks maybe Sci fi Lounge? and dinner at House of Blues later?

Sunday: lunch at 50 Prime again or someplace else? mam Melrose? Dinner at Cali Grill maybe?

Monday:we fly out at 6:15 so we need to leave WDW around 3:30 so maybe a lunch at the commisary or that food court in the dolphin or something?

My DB and DH are not very adventurous with food, though I am!!! Any suggestions other than what i am thinking? I am totally up for suggestions and HELP! Thanks so much!
:p

Whatever you do, don't look at the thread about where people would not go back!! (Even though I posted on it...) I see people ragging on restaurants that I absolutely love!

You mentioned the Biergarten - I love it! I am a vegetarian and I avoided it for years because I thought there would be too much meat - thing is, there's just too much of everything! It's a huge variety of vegetables, breads, desserts, potatoes...and meat (not to mention the beer), of course. The inside of the pavillion is pure disney cuteness, and the entertainment is fun - I never understand why some people don't like it!

It's fun to try places - if you listen to the places we hate - you might miss places you'll love.

PS - If you go to 50s prime time, get ready to be on center stage - if you get the right "family member", that is. Most of my family loves it, but my nephew cried when he was little and won't ever go back!

I love 50's prime time...we were there the week of my WDWwedding and my sister got fed choo choo style, complete with train whistle and my brother in law had a line drawn in ketchup on thr table for putting his elbows ont he table! We LOVE it there!
Everyone has different tastes, so bad reviews or not at least we can try and make our own opinion..people love the brown derby and my DH and I hated it! Even in my own family, there are things my sis and her family love that I don't care for as much!

Do you know the deal with fantasmic?
