Ps-3

Oh my gosh.......

People have been camping outside of Best Buy since Monday waiting for Friday AM to buy Playstation 3. The store manager says they are getting 26 units in...lol, there are at least 100 folks in the line already.

:headache:

They are doing that here in Abilene, TX also. I think they are nuts  besides we had 50+ mph winds last night. I bet that was fun in a tent and it is supposed to be down to 30 tonight. Dedicated people, I guess :sad2:

We must've gotten your winds today than...it was windy all morning!

I am wondering if the campers at our stores survived last night! We had a bad storm including strong wind, pouring rain, lightning, and tornados in adjacent counties! :scared1: We lost power most of the night too. I may have to go by and see! I bet they went to their cars?

i thought i heard that the ps2 games will not play on it. IS IT TRUE?

I read yesterday that there is a bug in the first release that will not allow it to play any of the old games. Sony is going to fix it, probably through some kind of online download.

This is what happens with this stuff in early release-BUGS. That's why it's better to wait a few months until all the kinks are out.

Hmmm the less units they deliver on the release date, the more publicity they get...

Sony is pretty smart.

Actually Sony hasn't been able to produce nearly the numbers of PS3's they've wanted to yet since there's not many factories making the new Cell processor and Blu-Ray lasers. Sony has consistently had to lower launch numbers, not by choice but by necessity.

I saw a few guys in tents and chairs at our Best Buy last night. And this is after we had a tornado yesterday.

Hmm..now that everyone is getting the new systems, I wonder if I can get an older one cheaper. :scratchin

I only have an Atari 2600 and have considered upgrading to the original Nintendo, or maybe even going all the way to a Nintendo 64 ;)

From what I read it was only some PS2 games and the majority of PS1 games, not every game. But yeah they should have it fixed soon.

Tell you what, you might not have the best graphics but you definately have some of the most fun games ever made. Even my son who has grown up on the Gamecube, loves to break out my Atari and play a lot of the games.

BTW did you realize that there were over 900 games made for the atari? I have about 280 myself, but nowadays it is getting harder and harder to find the old games.

Go for the Nintendo 64...Mario 64 is one of the best games I've ever played

Gamespot reported that Sony Japan posted a website with the list of 200 games known to have problems. The US PS3 will likely have the same problems with those games.

But, the PS3 controller does not have a rumble feature like the past controllers have, so that feature will obviously not be present when playing older games on the PS3.

The XBox 360 has the same backward compatibility problems; you have to download updates every so often to make certain old games work.

It's a pity about the rumble-less PS3 control pads, that's quite a loss.

Not true; I preordered at EB Games, and checked with them to see what was going on; as of today I am confirmed to get the first machine into their store tomorrow morning.

I was the only person there that morning to preorder, also. No lines, no waiting, no one behind me.

Best Buy cancelled all of the pre-orders...

Good luck!

I just got back from Target and Best Buy is next to that, there are lines at both stores, at least 100 people in each line. I asked the electronics guy at Target how many units they were getting, 30. It's 25° here right now :rotfl2: . Some people are REALLY nuts. IT'S A GAME FOLKS!!!

Best Buy does Pre-orders???

Anyways, I have two pre-orders at two local Gamestops and verified that I can pick up at midnight or within 48 hours starting then. Both are already sold(not ebay).

Only pre-orders Sony can cancel is those placed directly with them, other wise it is up to the RETAILER to decide what to do with their inventory. I am sure some retailers will claim that it was Sonys call, but it is not so.
