Proud New Yorker!

Beautiful!

Couldn't be prouder to know that one of our Western NY senators helped make this law possible.
Thank you Mark Grisanti for doing the research and letting that be your guide. As a long time opponent to same sex marriage, I know it took a lot to do what you did last night.
Thank you for voting with your brain and your heart and not fear

I watched the senate vote on live feed and was very impressed by Grisanti's explanation of his vote. I wish all my catholic friends had heard him.
As a side note - as an Episcopalian, I am thankful that when I go to church this morning there will be rejoicing together with the gay memebers of our congregation.

Also I'd be remiss in not giving a shout out to our local Senator Saland. While not as eloquent as Grisanti, he took the same stand.

Hooray New York!!! I so wish more legislators and people would follow his example! :thumbsup2

Way to go New York, you've finally caught up to us in Iowa! :-)

I just watched Mark Grisanti's speech, which was amazing. It's so nice to see that people can change, and he was willing to admit that he was wrong in the past. Good stuff.

The shame of it is that he's almost surely going to be punished for being honest, honorable and considerate of the views of others.

Add my cheers to the mix! As a Boston Red Sox fan, it does feel awfully weird to be cheering for NY, but this is a heckuva reason to do so. Joy! :grouphug: (Always thought the group hug looked a bit like a pride hug :) )

Congratulations to New York, and all those that will benefit from the intelligence exhibited there! :thumbsup2

I was born and raised in Virginia, but have been a resident of TN for many years now. I don't think that in my lifetime I will ever have the opportunity to say that I am a proud Tennessean, except in regard to football, and it's been a while since I've been able to do that! :sad2: In the context of human rights and equality, or even secular vs. religious issues, not in my lifetime and probably not in the lifetime of my friends' children.
