Proud Mom Moment!

Endulge me if you will but I am so proud of my 11 year old. He came home on Friday with not only an "Honourable Mention" for his science fair project but the "Principal's Award" for Outstanding Classroom Leadership! Maybe that "be a leader, not a follower" speech is actually sinking in! Thanks for listening. These awards couldn't have come at a better time for him. He sets his goals extremely high and is VERY hard on himself - his science experiment was "ruined" in his eyes because someone (albeit accidentally) turned his experiment upside down and completely crushed it on the day of the science fair and he was beside himself so this Honourable Mention award allowed him to see that not everything has to be perfect! His curriculum (grade 6) is very demanding and I think he's looking forward to a well-deserved March Break at the end of this week!

Let this be a lesson to all of us - those speeches that we give hoping may just a few of the words get though really do work. To all of us who have children and are involved in their lives mentally, physically and socially - congratulations - parenthood is often a thankless job but rewards such as this make it all worth it!
