I hope you all don't mind if I brag a little on DD. I picked her up from school today and we exchanged the usual- How was school? Fine. (You know the routine.) We were in the car and she told me she was recognized in front of the whole school today during Monday morning assembly. The school has a character building word of the month and apparently at the end of each month the teachers nominate kids that have demonstrated this word. May's word was perserverance. So after telling her how proud of her I was because only a handful of kids were recognized in the whole school (her school is grades K-6), I started grilling her for details. She didn't have many so we emailed her teacher. Her teacher said she nominated her to be recognized as a student who has shown great perserverance. She said that DD's growth in reading is just one example of how she has stayed determined, and, consequently she has become a very good reader. Her teacher said that she is extremely proud of her and that she is fabulous! DH and I were and still are so humbled and very proud! We couldn't ask for a better kid! Sorry this is so long!

Congrats! Tell DD a Dis auntie, who is a teacher, is proud of her also.
S :)

I love proud Mama moments. Great job for DD!

Great for your daughter! And what a word to be proud of.

WOW ashley good for her! you should be very proud of her. reading is a great thing. and what a word to be recognized for....perseverance!!!!!
please tell her how very very proud we are of her! what a nice story. :yay:

That is a wonderful quality to cultivate.
Tell her "WAY TO GO!" from this DISAuntie.
:cheer2: :cheer2: :cheer2:

Congrats to DD!!! That is a great accomplishment... one many kids don't even attempt till there older!!!

Speaking of kids... We got the boys' grades (elementary) in the mail Saturday.. they both passed.. so they are still going on vacation! :rotfl:

However, we haven't heard about our older 3 kids... (HS/MS).. hmmm? what is wrong with that picture?

Our school still trust the elementary kids. They bring their report cards home on the last day. Both have been promoted. *whew* wasn't sure if little bit was ever going to read.

Thanks y'all! I had to giggle because perserverance is a word that I substitute for stubborness when describing myself. :lmao: So I think there might be a strong possibility she got it from me- DON'T TELL DH! :rotfl2:
