I have had a few emails in the last few weeks asking me the protocol for helping out with the DISigns. Here are a few I have come up with. I am asking for additional input so I can add it to the FAQ section of this board.

We welcome all new DISigners to the board. Please be advised that it can become addicting & overwhelming at times.:scared1:

Here's a few things to keep in mind.
  • Feel free to start your own post with a new DISign.
  • Make sure you are not modifying another person's DISign and saying it is your creation.
  • Tell people in the first post what your expectations are for requests. Marion doesn't want the images posted in her thread due to band width issues. I want the images posted as that's the only way I can easily find the original.
  • Give people an idea of how long you take to DISign. I only DISign on weekends, others post everyday.
  • If someone posted a request for a DISign in a new thread, feel free to respond even if 3 other people have responded. I have made a DISign that I thought was good and posted it in a thread with two other DISigns that not only were good, but may have been better. My feeling is you can never have too many choices.
  • Don't hijack another person's thread. not nice:sad2:
  • If you have to take a break post that information and ask me to close your thread.
  • I only update the DISigner listing periodically as it is a pain to do. I like the fonts and colors and outline to be consistent which means I start from scratch each time. I am sure there is an easier way to do it, but that's how I do it:confused3 SO your information may not be added right away. Also, some DISigners come in and DISign for a few weeks and realize how time intensive it is and leave. Ergo, another update is needed. So now I wait a couple months to make sure the person is going to stick around.
  • DISigns cannot be sold, you can't ask for donations, you can't link to your website if you sell anything on it and you can't list an advertisement in your signature.
  • Children frequent this forum (as they do in most of the DIS forums) so be cognizant of that and post accordingly.
  • Don't hesitate to ask questions, there are some highly talented people on this forum.
  • Be prepared for people to ask you to change your DISign (they don't like the color, the wording, the placement of characters, etc.). You don't have to make the changes, but let people know one way or the other.
  • Lastly, Be NIce & have fun :flower3:. It's very cool to have someone appreciate a DISign that you did and ask for modifications. However, if they don't follow your rules that doesn't give you permission to belittle them. You are free to respond (nicely) with your expectations.
& if you are lucky and people are considerate they will come back a post a thank you with a picture, once the DISign is finished.
Everyone, feel free to add suggestions or questions and I will update the first post as needed. Thanks, :thumbsup2 Penny
