You do not pay for anything on the ship with cash or a credit card. Before you board, you will set up an onboard account, tied to a credit card. Any credits that you get from a TA or that you purchase beforehand are applied to that account to give you a positive balance. Any purchases (Palo, Remy, gift shops, excursions, alcohol, gratuities) that you make on the ship are subtracted from that account. Once the credits are used up,
DCL will allow you to continue to purchase taking your account into a negative balance up to a certain amount based on the length of your cruise. This is typically around $300 to $500. Once the purchases get up to that amount then DCL will charge your credit card and your account will go down to $0 again. This goes on until your cruise ends. On the final morning of the cruise, you will have to go down to the front desk and settle up on any outstanding balances. It is recommended that you do this the evening before because the lines will be long on the final morning.
