Just joking! Pros of Univeral Hotels?

1. FOTL- This perk is worth the stay alone. Words can't describe the feeling of being put on the rides first just by showing your room key.

2. Newer hotels than Disney - the Portofino opened in '99, Hard Rock '01, RPR '02.

3. Loews Perks - Relatively easy to reach a Platinum status after just 15 nights stay.

4. Transportation-5 minute cruise by boat to the parks or a lesiurely 10 minute stroll.

5. Restaurants-15+ themed restaurants all within a 10 minute walk.

6. Friendly staff in a very upbeat resort.

7. Great pools. Cabanas.

8. The Pillows!

CONS of Universals hotels.

1. Less discounted rates available this year.

2. There is a charge for parking- when you are paying 200+ a night for a room you would think they could lose the parking charge in the price or lose it all together.

Ahhh yes. I was at HRH with a friend and my sister. I offered each of them some soda. My friend declined. And as she opened and poured the "$$$" water, she said that she was going to be good and have water.

Then we had to perform CPR on her when we showed her the HUGE tag that hung from the bottle stating $6. Oye.

The whole walking thing is a huge plus in itself. You literally walk from one park to the other, through City Walk, to the hotels, and never be tired.
RP is beautiful, reminds me of the Poly. I honestly don't remember the hotel room though we were only there in August!!! But we spent every waking moment in the parks or on the porch of Margaritaville

We really enjoyed the walking and the boat rides. We were also only in our room long enough to crash after a long fun day. We were at the parks/pool or citywalk every waking hour.

The other thing I appreciated is that it felt safe and was kept clean. We would leave our room by about 0930 and other than stopping in to put on our swim suits we did not return until 2200.

We WILL be going back (absolutley on site for the many reasons others have mentioned) again in January or February 2006.

Keep in mind, the hotels at Universal are not comparible to the All Star Hotels at Disney. They are DELUXE! Along the lines of the Poly and such. You will not find All Star rates, no matter what the discount. It is very worth the experience. Plus, your FOTL pass works for the day you check in and the day you check out. There is no limit to the number of times you can use it on each ride. It is not the same as the express pass visitors can buy at the gates. It's better!

Can you just confirm with FOTL - That during one visit in theory, I could use this perk as many times as I like? Is it just for rides that have express lines??

FOTL is only for rides that and shows that have express lines exception being shrek which has fotl but no express also at peak seaon they limit it to once per attraction before 3pm thereafter as many times as u like

FOTL is better than disneys FP because you go to the ride - go to the front and ride! at disney you have to go to ride ....get a fast pass, watch the clock, try and fit in rides then head back to fast pass ride and hope you make your time. Then decide on next fast pass ......and do it all over again.

FOTL is soooo much better .... you really feel like a v.i.p.
