My DH has been gone for 4 days for work. I have been taking care of my 6 year old and my 6 month old who is teething and cranky during this time. I am on day 4 and DH is expected home in a couple of hours. I am BEAT and all I kept thinking about the entire time was single parents and how much I respect them for doing what they do.

Oh my god, I have NO IDEA how you guys do this on a daily basis. How you manage the home, bills, kids......it just is amazing. You all are superwoman/superman in my book.:thumbsup2

There is a group that I belong to called FLASM "Feeling like a single mom" Its for those of us whose husbands travel a lot, we all feel like you do sometimes :)

I have so much respect for single parents out there! DH had been on the road 80% of the last few years and dang I dont know how I would do it without the days he *did* come home. I really admire people who can do this on their own. Raising kids is NOT for sissys and raising them alone takes a miracle worker in my book!

It's not so bad.

You're the final word on discipline, parenting, money and all things in the home. If you don't expect anyone else to do it you just do it by rote, with a lot less frustration.

And the best part... you get to shine in the glory of the child's eyes when they're grown! Mine will be 18 in January so I'm thru MOST of the mess!

It's my favorite job!:thumbsup2

I agree it is not bad. It definitely has its upside on some issues compared to my married friends....

but Thanks for the Props! ..I will take em where I can get em.....

It's funny (and nice) that you say that:) but...

I've always thought it was easier to do the parenting myself. No one to compromise with, no set dinner time unless I set it, and no one to pick up after, lol. There is a freedom that only single parents recognize.

I cringe when I'm out with friends and I hear "geez, gotta get home, the house is messy and XXX will be home and want dinner" or "spent Saturday cleaning the house while XXX golfed". Now, I know that some homes don't run that way but my experience from the outside has been that the Moms in the house are doing 75% and the Dads are doing 25% but making at least 50% of the mess and work:rotfl:

I know there are many things I'm missing out on and I'm certainly not opposed to being in a relationship or getting remarried, but don't feel bad for me, I'm kinda enjoying the single life:laughing:
