Proposed DVC next to Wedding Pavillion

I don't know that you can get that guaranteed. I would check your contract. I just checked mine and there is a small paragraph that reads:

"You acknowledge that Disney's Grand Floridian Resort & Spa is currently undergoing exterior and/or interior renovations. You acknowledge that from time to time the hotels and theme parks at the Resort undergo exterior and interior renovations. Such renovation shall be at Disney's sole discretion."

We asked about this before we signed our LOA in February, and were told that they were minor renovations, such as repainting and repairing the outside of the GF buildings (which they were doing when we did our site visit in January). They mentioned nothing about putting an entirely new building up, and I'm going to be super annoyed if they do and it disturbs the ambiance of the WP and GF.

I think if every single one of the brides and bride's mom's (mom's have an impact!) call up and demand some assurances.. that Disney will see that they have to keep the brides and their mom's happy!!

That's what I'm hoping for. I've been a Grade A pain in their butt this week. They may spit in my buffet but as long as I don't HEAR it, that's fine with me :rotfl:

We also asked about the rennovation line in the contract and were told that this mainly related to when they ripped all the floors up but they had kept it in for other general renovation. Having specifically asked about this we will be really PO'ed if they now come back and say they've known about this all along. And we agree that this isnt classed as renovation - this is something completely new.

We are also most concerned about the noise, although I really wanted to walk along the lovely path from the Grand Floridian to the Wedding Pacillin with my dad and maid of honour. It sounds like this won't be possible any more :sad2:

I emailed our consultant and planner on Monday and haven't heard anything back. I think that says more then an actual response.

Bride dad's can call too as in many instances, they're paying the bills. I am sure Disney will do what they can to keep people happy. I'm sure the construction crew can be told the wedding's hours and be quiet for that time. I don't think there is weddings there round the clock... so.. why could they not accommodate? :confused3

In my years of pageantry :lmao:, if something was going wrong with a dress or an outfit, my mother could tell them what was wrong and what needed to be done...... but when my dad came in, that's when they got scared! :rotfl:

More power to us moms!! I've been a mother of the bride... so I'd just say... "don't mess with the MOB" :lmao:

I received an email from my coordinator which says that there are ongoing projects, and while they have not been officially told of anything regarding this, as soon as she is told something, she would let me know if it would affect my wedding day.

I wouldn't be so worried except that I really don't want my guests to have to deal with the construction. I loved the walkway back to Narcoossee's. Sigh. I am just crossing my fingers and hoping for the best.

I can tell you that is a LONG walk in a wedding dress anyway, so you're not missing out!

As for sound proofing, you can't hear the boats or the monorail when you're in the wp, so lets hope it's sound proof enough to block construction noise. I don't think they could realistically stop any work that would make noise for every ceremony since typically construction work is done during the day, but maybe they can speed thru the outside work to keep picture and noise work to a minimum. Best of luck to everyone :thumbsup2
