Proposal help

We are going on the fantasy in October. I was planning on proposing to my girlfriend. I'm open to suggestions since this is my first cruise. it's also a Halloween cruise.
You should propose to her while going down the Aquaduck.

I know when my husband of 4 years next month asked me to marry him it was on our first of many Disney cruises.
You need to find out what she likes, like a lot of others have stated. Does she like a crowd, does she want something intimate or a little bit both. Try to beat aroundown bush and ask her what she likes. My husband did and I never caught on.
When my husband asked me to marry him he did it during our dinner at palo, I personally think he did a great job.
I also had a friend who got engaged on the balcony in front of a ton of guest and she loved it, the attention was focused around her.
Doing it as your walking in on the boat, I personally wouldn't do it ther, your nervous already and should wait for a better chance. Your just getting on the boat and if this is your first cruise enjoy walking onto boat, you only have one chance to say it's your first cruise savor the start of it.

If you don't want to be nervous the entire cruise, as you enter the ship they announce your family name right as you're boarding. Hand the person who announces to introduce you as the " xxxx (her name) Will you marry me" family. Go down on the knee while they are announcing.
Oh my gosh, this just made me tear up and cry a tad. That is amazing!
Definitely a wonderful idea

I proposed to my wife on the Magic. I had contacted the ship months in advance and coordinate my plans so that I could propose while at Palo on our first night. After we embarked onto the ship I snuck away and met with the contact I had from Palo and gave them something I had written up. They printed this out and placed it inside my wife's menu. After my wife was done reading my letter I proposed to her and we will always have that memory together. And we still laugh at how stressed I seemed when flying and getting to the port with the ring. That's part of the fun of a good engagement story!

As others have said, the EARLIER the better. It would be too nerve racking to enjoy. Line MickeyManiacMom said, as they introduce you onto the ship, have the announcer say something like this...

"Now boarding the Future Mrs. <Your last name>"

I am not sure if Disney gets involved in these types of things, but it would be great. You can coordinate before the cruise, meet a contact there to be sure it can be videotaped and photographed. They may even use your camera for it.

My thought here.

When you board this ship there are a gazillion people in line behind you waiting to board. You will be rushed. And really, as special as a proposal is, its kind of rude to hold up a whole shipload of people waiting to start their expensive vacations for your moment. I suspect that your special moment will actually disappear into a blur as the rest of the ship tries to board!

And my advice:
It doesn't really matter how your propose. It really doesn't. She will remember it being special.
(My husband proposed while we were on a walk to see Christmas lights. And it was magical.)
Now, I'm older than Facebook, which means I pre-date competitive prom invites, competitive proposals, etc.
I look at this as a special moment between you and your future wife.

I was looking to do something that she wouldn't think it's coming we have a Palo dinner our 3rd night but wanted to do it sooner

This was my thought as well!!! But there will not be a photographer. Another thought, is at the terminal when Mickey or Minnie is out in the terminal to greet the guest getting ready to board. There is a photographer there and she won't be expecting anything, because she will be so excited about the cruise.

What about your first night in the room? Ask your stateroom host to do a towel heart (or something of that nature) on your bed and put the ring box in the middle. Ask her when she sees it or just before. You won't have a photographer, but you will have a beautiful private and intimate moment together.

If you call Disney, they might have some good ideas as well. I do know that they will NOT use any signs with characters as the previous poster had said. We made a special sign to announce my daughter being pregnant last year and wanted my grandson to hold it while standing next to Mickey Mouse and they would not do it. They would allow us to use the sign in pictures when they were taking family pictures with no characters. So you could do engagement pictures holding signs during the formal night pictures, such as He asked / She said yes…they sell these type signs on Etsy.com. Plus, the pictures would be stamped with Disney Dream on them.

Disney Fantasy has two more private spots with great views that you might be able to use if you get in touch with them.

I just got off Fantasy and saw a couple events at The Outlook on Deck 14. I talked with a crew member about the toddler play time they scheduled there and he said it does not get used much... mostly just for special events like weddings or family celebrat ions and such. You might be able to get it decorated just right... have some champagne and treats ready... and surprise her when you bring her up there to propose from the highest view.

I also see they have a Meridian Patio for special occasions. This may be an option, too, although I did not see it myself.

If you get in contact with DCL I bet they would work with you on this since these spots are not used much. I was told The Outlook was empty the vast majority of the voyage.

Something like this may indeed be your best option. You could make it work real well.

As Chemist and Phinz said in posts above, while the entrance part seems intriguing, there are too many ways it could not work well because of their policies or other pressures.

And so it begins. The 1st of the 3 rings of marriage, my friend.

The engagement ring... the wedding ring.... and,

Just to be clear, the woman wears the engagement ring and wedding ring. Are you suggesting she also does the suffering? ;)

Yes, I know you were kidding, as am I.
