Proper etiquette for reuseable mug

how do you get the refillable mugs? I know they come with the meal plans, but can you pick them up in the hotel lobby? What about if you go straight to the park if your check in isnt ready?

You purchase them at the hotel. They are in the food court area. At the BW, you can buy them at the bakery. They do not have the mugs at the parks since you can't refill them at the park.

Depending on where you're staying, you get them at the food court/counter service at your resort. You can also buy them even if you don't have the dining plan; I believe they cost around $17 each.

Values are also in the food courts themselves. (Maybe other resorts, too - not sure.)

mods are in food courts too. Never seen them in the gift shops, but maybe some hotels sell them there. We only stayed at one deluxe, the boardwalk, which does not have a food court, and they were sold at the boardwalk bakery. Either way, they are easy to find.

Im so glad Im not the only one ! You are guys are great ! I thought I was just over sensitive to the coffee smell staying in the cups.

You paid for your mug-I would just put the coffee in the cup of your choice and just have proof that you purchased mugs with you. My husband doesn’t put coffee in his mug either. We make it in the room and he drinks it out of a ceramic mug we bring from home.

I travel with a tiny Travel Dish Soap (2-3 oz). They have them at timeshares, I've seen at Bed Bath & Beyond and other stores with large Travel item departments. If you can't find these then you could bring some from home in a plastic toiletry bottle. It is easy to wash things in the room sink and then I set them on a hand towel on the counter to let them air dry.

At breakfast, I have seen people ask for a disposable cup when paying for their meal. The CMs didn't seem to mind giving them out whether the person had a refillable mug with them or not, so they don't stop/monitor people drinking coffee or ice tea.....so I would think you could freely fill up your own travel mug (if people frown at this, just have your refillable one there too and get a cold drink and put in you room fridge for later ). At least you paid for your mug and are not trying to take advantage.

Those little bottles are provided in the DVC villas. However, the Palmolive is a lot harder to rinse thanks to the Florida water. I strongly recommend Dawn for this, even if Palmolive is your usual preference, since it rinses out a LOT easier. (yes, I've actually done this exact test!)

I must reiterate: wash it with the soap, and then fill 2/3 hot water, snap on lid, shake, dump, repeat a couple of times. It works!

When we had the mugs, my husband didn't want to put the coffee in them either. In the morning, he'd just bring the mug down with him and just ask the cashier for a coffee cup. He got one every morning no questions or nasty looks. I think a lot people do the same.

At the BW, also now available for purchase on the lobby, as is popcorn, at what used to be the concierge desk before it started to share the space allocated to check-in (probably because many guests are doing online check-in).

Quick question we bought the resuable mugs last time and will be getting them again. My one question is when we used them last time for coffee in the a.m. that even after washing them they still had a coffee smell to them which was not the best for soda later. Would it be completely awful if we brought our reusable mugs to the QS to show we paid for them but put the coffee in our coffee travel mugs ? Or would the proper way be to fill the mug and transfer to metal mug ? I know this sounds crazy but the plastic just absorbs the coffee ...I could also soak them in the sink over night I guess.
I had this same reaction on earlier trips. Something about that plastic soaks up the coffee smell and taste. I actually happen to like a shot of espresso in my cola, but for any other flavor soda the combination isnt desirable. I found a pack of disposable coffee cups at my local grocery that nest withiwithin the refillable mug perfectly. To get it just right, I had the roll in that lip on the bottom of the cup. After that I could even snap the lid on it.

Another option is to bring some oxiclean (sodium percarbonate). Put a tsp of that into your mug full of water and let it soak a few hours .it will remove the off taste and smell.

I just cannot drink anything in the mug I use for coffee! The coffee smell never goes away. Thankfully I mainly drink coffee and my husband mainly drinks soda.

Not all resorts will give you a paper coffee cup. I've asked and was told no, they are only for sale.

I have taken a few WDW cups from events I've attended like SW dessert party or Early Magic Morning breakfast to use for my morning coffee. It's the same coffee cup, so no odd looks.

I always have a refillable mug purchased, I'm not taking advantage of the coffee. I just hate carrying around the mug and like to keep it exclusively for my Diet Coke.

We have brought our mugs from previous trips and used those for coffee and the new ones that we buy for soda. At the end of the trip we leave the old ones in the room. No one has ever said anything and since we buy new mugs each trip we always have a spare set.

Absolutely nothing. But let's face it, the coffee isn't that good. Vs the soda options that have more appeal

Ever since they changed to Joffrey I haven’t found anything bad about the resort coffee, personally.

Of course the issue is that they are using Orlando water to make the coffee.

So the OP can just dispense coffee directly into travel mugs, bypassing the middleman (aka refillable mugs), and use these for only soft drinks.

Sure, but I think they are more worried about the potential for trouble if they do this. How it will look.

As long as you’re arriving after 6am “checkin” is always ready. Your room might not be, but you can do the checkin process if you haven’t done online checkin already. If you have a dining plan with mugs you just go to the food court etc to pick up the mug and scan your hand to “pay” for it.

I have seen people ask for a disposable cup when paying for their meal.

The cup you can easily get for water isn’t the same as a normal cup, and definitely wouldn’t work for a hot drink.

You can also pick them up at any resort, not just the one you're staying at. We were staying at CSR last trip, but picked our DDP mugs up at the Boardwalk Bakery because we still hadn't made it to the CSR lobby halfway through our trip.

LOL etiquette. Ya'll know you grab a coffee mug from the room and go fill it. I was given a "free" cup of coffee so many times at the Contempo that it seems to me they do not care about coffee so much.
