Propeller desk clocks

A while back there was some discussion of the small propeller desk (alarm) clocks in the rooms. Someone even posted a picture for those who didn't know what they were. On my last cruise, I considered purchasing one in the shop on board. I didn't for a few reasons: they didn't say DCL or have the logo (they are made by Howard Miller), the clock was somewhat small (decent size) but the box was large (good for shipping but not good to carry home) & the price was 40., a lot I thought for something without the logo. Well I am glad I didn't buy it. We got a flyer from BoatUS today ("Super Coupon Savings") and they have the clock in the ad for 14.99 (reg. 19.99) though their website says 29.99 (I just checked www.boatus.com). Sale dates Nov 7-16. Guess my DS will have one under the tree after all, but I'll save $ to spend on the next cruise

I have seen these propeller clocks at our local Sears store. Actually, I don't think it was Sears that was selling them but a clock/watch repair vendor that rents out space within the Sears store. I believe they were selling them for $29.99.

They looked very similar, if not exactly, the same as the ones onboard.

The propeller blades on those clocks break off very easily and they always fall off their little stick of a stand.

There are cute but I think useless as a clock in the stateroom. I like to have illuminated numbers at night as I like to know what time it is when I am up in the night.

Exactly. That's what makes those clocks not very useable, they are not visible at night and I still stick by my recommendation to bring your own. Or, preferably, I used the clock and alarm built into the cabin tv.

Which categories of staterooms have the propeller clocks in them? I think I remember reading somewhere that not all the cabins have them. I think they're cute! We'll be in a Cat 6. Will we have one of those clocks in our cabin or not?? Thanks!

I believe that all of the cabins have the clocks.

When I received the note that we were able to purchase this clock - that had no Disney Cruise line Logo....it could be a Joe Schmo clock. All we had to do was pack it in our bags and we would be charged. I thought... heck no! I'd rather take our assistant server home and be charged all I want ;) yummy! Our clock looked like it had been played with too many times.

cat. 6 cabins do have the clock...we sailed on cat. 6 last Nov.

I knew I had seen those clocks before, (probably in the boatus catalog) and that Disney had them overpriced. But, we still got one because we were walking by the shop when the Captain was signing them and that darn ship card makes it so easy.

Oh, you all forgot the best part about the clocks - they tick TICK TICK TICK TICK, mine was wrapped blankets in the closet! Now, it could be said that our cabin was, perhaps, too quiet and that's why it was a loud TICK - or perhaps I have seen Peter Pan too many times, but you really have to love ticking to like the clock!

Yep - the BoatUS website says they are 29.99 - how can I get it for the 14.99???

I don't think they have a store in KY. I left the ad in the car, so I will have it next week when the coupon is good so I can't read what it says. Maybe they will honor the price at their "order hotline" 1-800 937-2628 (from the BoatUS web site)
