Proof of COVID vaccination

Do not laminate your vaccination card. In the future there will most likely be booster shots and they will need to add that info to your card.

It gets billed to your insurance and you list a primary care. It's prolly in atleast 3 systems that you have gotten vaccinated. If they roll out a system for a travel card it would be tied to your SSN I would assume.
There was no insurance involved with our vaccines. I didn't get the impression that any permanent records were being kept on their end. It was a very random, sign up, show up, & later there will be a window to return for the 2nd shot. In my son's case, the place he got the 1st shot at closed down, so I had to scramble to find a location for his 2nd shot that would take someone who already got the 1st shot. There was no set way to handle this- people who had the 1st shot only were just "orphaned". Totally random and I don't think there is a state database here of everyone who has received the shots at all, let alone a federal one. The shot info was handwritten onto the paper card and would be easy to forge. It's all about getting shots quickly into arms, not being super careful about thorough documentation.

Just because some people THINK (and hope) that will happen does not mean it will. IMO, if they're fine letting non-vaccinated people on planes now (and have been for the last year), why should you have to show proof of insurance in the future?

ETA: "proof of vaccination"

I don't know why anyone would want this. Even if you and your family are fully vaxxed now, let's say one of the new vaccines required (because they can add more than just covid to the requirements), or a booster, causes an ill effect (I know highly unlikely but let's just say it does). Let's say you don't want to continue taking boosters for that vaccine because of the risk. Suddenly you are locked out of traveling, even though you have complied with every single vaccine beforehand. Too much room for problems with this.

My vaccine appointment was scheduled in the CDC VAMS system since NH didn't have a vaccine database. So, not only did I receive the CDC card with my vaccine record, but I can print a certificate from the CDC VAMS website. For now I'm keeping my hard copy of my certificate in the firebox at my house but I plan to make copies of it to have more accessible as well. I just finished my vaccine series on Friday.

Mine is in VAMS, too (CT). They printed the info on my card both times, no stickers. I got the Pfizer vaccine. I think I might have put my insurance info in on the VAMS site? Maybe? I definitely didn't give it at the appointments.

Insurance and PCP info was requested during the online registration process when making an appointment. I just checked insurance and nothing was claimed to our family insurance plan. I also just checked our PCP portals for 3 of us who are fully vaccinated, and only my 1st dose shows up on my PCPs portal, nothing on my DH or DD's records. So the state may be sharing info, but it clearly isn't updating in any timely fashion.

As a natural cynic, I think those vaccine certificates will be too easy to fake.

Yes, natural cynic here too. As soon as I saw the first people posting pics of their vaccination cards on social media, I thought those cards would be way too easy to fake. Sure enough, I saw on the news that phony cards are being sold on the dark web. It's for people who don't want to get vaccinated, but need proof to get into some places.

In NY we have the Excelsior Pass app, where one can give permission to being on the statewide-program, which verifies that one has been vaccinated in NYS and then is given a QR code on the app, which they can then show at certain NYS events, to get in.

However, the CDC has just removed the rules on mask wearing for almost all places, except trains, planes, hospitals and prisons (and a few other exceptions.) So, I'm not sure that we will even need some type of proof soon.

The company where we got our covid tests for free in my state gogettested also partnered up with a vaccine passport of sorts under vaxyes. It's considered a certificate to them. The company allows you to add that to apple wallet (though we don't have apple phones).

You submit a picture of your DL (or some form of ID that had your name, can't remember the various types as DL was the easiest for us) and a picture of your CDC vaccine card and they create a digital access for that information on hand. On that it has the lot numbers of the vaccine for each dose, the manufacturer (in my case Pfizer), the date of each dose, my name, DOB and then the picture of my CDC vaccine card that I submitted to them.

Haven't used it yet, haven't needed to (although krispy kreme is calling my name lol) but both my husband and I decided to go ahead and do it right after our second dose about a month ago. We also just have the picture of our CDC vaccine card on our phone's gallery.

You definitely should not laminate your card. What I did was put mine in one of those clear lanyard pouches, so it's protected but can still be taken in and out for new info to be added. The cards fit perfectly in them.

Oh right! Krispy Kreme is giving out free donuts to vaxers! A couple months ago a Krispy Kreme opened up in Times Square. Yes, I stood in line to get some. :lovestruc I'll have to remember this.

Across the street from them, Junior's Cheesecake restaurant reopened this week. I was so worried that the year-long closure might do them in. But, they have announced they are giving away a free mini cheesecake to people who bring in proof they've been vaxed. :woohoo:

And Shake Shake here, just announced they will give a free order of fries for those that buy a burger and show proof.

I have no idea how many people are taking up the offers from these places but food and booze seem to be a hit with vaccinations.

My husband sent me a story about a brewery in Buffalo, NY offering free pint with a Moderna vaccine (free for 1st and second dose) and I guess it's working out there lol. A retro-style arcade bar in my area is giving free tokens, a flea market is doing buy one get one burger, etc.

I love the innovativeness these companies are coming up with!

How big are the cards as far as putting them in a lanyard pouch? And if you put it in a lanyard would you just wear it all the time especially going out in public where you would no doubt be asked to show your card?

DH never got a card that I know of when he got vaccinated last month and I know he would never just wear it around his neck. But that's just him!!

The one I got is slightly taller than a credit card, which does make it inconvenient to store. I was thinking of putting mine in a lanyard pouch as all the info could easily be rubbed off or faded off if simply placed in my pocket.

The CDC doesn’t make mask rules. They issued guidance indicating that vaccinated people do not need to wear them indoors in many circumstances. No guidance has changed for those who are unvaccinated.

my vaccine card is 8-1/2 x 11 inches.

I don't think I will be hanging that around my neck.

My card is 3" x 4", which is the size of the lanyard pouches I had laying around.

I didn't necessarily mean that you had to wear it around your neck like an actual lanyard, I was just suggesting the use of the clear plastic sleeve part in order to keep the card protected from being ripped or crumpled, or the ink getting rubbed off in the event that you do have to take it with you somewhere as a form of proof (like going to get a free Krispy Kreme, haha). I actually took the neck strap off and just put the sleeved card away.

If I had some desire/energy, I'd go back through old posts here and find the people who thought everyone would have to show their "proof" to do normal, routine stuff... going to the grocery, entering a business, going to work, to say nothing about movies, transportation, concerts, sporting events, etc.
