Is that database tracking WHO got the shots or just that 'x' shot was given?

It tracks what immunizations a person has received.

Schools can become registered users and verify required immunizations for their students.

The database is default opt in so unless a parent knew to fill out an opt out request, kids immunization records since 2003(I believe) are in the database.

I’ve read that at some point, air travelers will have to prove they’ve been vaccinated against COVID in order to board a plane. DH and I got a flimsy piece of paper for vaccine 1 and must return with that paper for vaccine 2.

Do you think there will eventually be some sort of official card or will we have to laminate our paper to have proof?

We got ours too. Yay! Gosh it feels really 1984 or something thinking about having your papers in order. I know a lot of people are thinking that way, but they are letting everyone on in the middle of a pandemic already. I think to myself, why would they make it harder after we have the numbers down? . I have not found any concrete literature supporting the need to prove vaccination.

IDK - that's actually surprising to hear.

There hasn't been enough vaccine administered here yet to have this information be general public knowledge (we've had serious supply issues). I do think it's an important issue though so I'm going to google around and see what I can find.

When I got my vaccine it was more like a card. It wasn't flimsy paper at all.

Whether you realize it or not, your vaccination details are all logged in a data base. The WHO is working on co ordinating each countries database, so that those who need to access such information such as airlines, employers etc etc can do so. So like what currently happens with ESTA, when you check in for your your flight, it shows whether or not you have ESTA. We can not complete check in without a valid ESTA. When we get checked by USA Homelands security on arrival to USA and our passports are scanned, again the ESTA information is shown to the agent.

I have no doubt it's coming to some parts of the world. Just not so sure it's coming to the US. Maybe for US citizens traveling abroad. But I'm not so sure it's coming for domestic travel.

I think we traveled into 1984 territory this past year whether "the papers" come to be or not.

We got a CDC card with the stickers for the vaccine lots put on them. I was told by the nurse who gave me the final shot do not laminate the card. Some of the staff did it and the heat from the lamination causes the vaccine sticker to turn all black because it’s a thermal printed sticker. You could probably “laminate” it with some packaging tape but don’t use a heat source. Ours were Pfizer stickers so not sure if it’s the same for moderna.

I wouldn't laminate them. There are extra slots on those cards besides the 1st and 2nd shot. My complete guess is that's where the future booster stickers would go????

Yeah, I'm not seeing every Tom-Dick-and-Harry US employer able to access the same databases as Homeland Security, for any reason... it may get put into place for international travel, but then again the U.S. has HIPAA which limits the sharing of medical information for broad purposes. People are not being asked to sign HIPAA waivers when they get vaccinated, so any database in the US will have very limited use -- primarily just for counts. I think any vaccine passport would have to be an opt-in system here, not automatic.

So weird how every state is doing it different. After reading everyone experience I don't see how they can add a universal vaccine card for covid.

I live in Louisiana and we have "LA WALLET". It has my Driver's license and now Covid Vaccine status. You have to opt in to have your Medical Information aka Covid vaccine included. there is a blue par at the bottom that has covid-19 and when you select that option, it has a green vaccinated tab effective date (mine is February 9. 2021) and Elapsed time (3 months 2 days)-idk why they need the elapsed time.

There is a large yellow bar that I can click at anytime to remove the "medical information".

La Wallet is an approved form of identification just like a driver's license as of 12.22.2020

Probably true, but I don't wanna go throwing my SSN all over the place. I hold that number pretty tightly.

As a natural cynic, I think those vaccine certificates will be too easy to fake.

My husband and I talked about this the other day. He said he read online that some people are already "faking" vax cards. Just go get the protection of the shot!

'Cause numbers aren't down everywhere -- they're rising in my immediate area -- and because "down" isn't "crisis completed".

We all had Moderna, and our cards have stickers too. We xeroxed ours and laminated the xeroxes so we can leave the originals in a drawer at home.

I live right near a state border, and I had the first dose in one state and the second in a different state. I logged into my online health portal for my PCP yesterday for a totally separate reason, and noticed that the vax data from in-state shot was listed there. I don't recall giving anyone my PCP info when registering, so I assume they're grabbing it from a state database somehow. I messaged her and she updated my account to show both shots.

I do have my CDC card with both shots (hand written - no sticker either time)
