OK - sorry - this is probably a really dumb question, but are the boards called the "diss" boards OR "diz" boards ?? :confused3

I guess I read the name and thought of them as "diss", since that's how it's spelled, but I met someone IRL who called them "diz", which makes sense since the D-I-S comes from Disney.

(I tried posting this an hour ago, but it never showed up.)

I say "diz" in my head...like you said, because I consider it part of the word "Disney". Sorry I can't help more! :)

It always just seemed obvious to be that the first syllable of DISboards was pronounced the same as the first syllable of Disney -- "diz."

I believe I read somewhere that the DIS in DISboards originally was an acronym for "Disney Information Station." Any truth to that?

I always thought DIS was diss, not diz. Interesting question!

I too have always pronounced it Diz boards. In modern vernacular, to "dis" or to "diss" someone would be to cut them off at the knees...lol...something we try not to do on the Dis boards!

What a great discussion. It would never have occured to me to say diZ boards. Always diS, although I don't cut many off at the knees.....well there was this one time....... :rotfl:

Definitely DIZZZ like DIZZZZ NEY.... lol........ the caps need to be there for pronunciation, cause u have to show that ur excited lol :rotfl2:

I say 'diz', one of my friends says 'dis' and yet another friend pronounces each letter and says 'D I S'.

The 'founding father' says 'diz'. :)

Thanks for your input! Glad I'm at least not the only one who considered it DISSS, though DIZZZ definitely seems to be the more popular pronunciation!

WooHoo! In 4 days I can say "Next month we're going to DISNEY!!" :bounce:
