~Project Runway Season Season 8 Thread Spoilers Welcome~

So, does this mean that Casanova and Peach can only design nice clothing when they are collaborating with others?

I think they may be a little slower developing their concepts. I think given time, both of them create stellar pieces, but in the timeframe they are given some things don't have the chance to develop the way they could. Last night, working in the group, they had others to help them edit and work through their thought process with them - helped speed things up a bit KWIM? The non-team challenges, it's every (wo)man for themself.

P.S. I thought (at first) when Tim told AJ to sit down that Cassanova told him he was quitting and that AJ was going to stay. BOY WAS I SHOCKED! :scared1:

I  that Tim went off on Gretchen. Maybe she'll understand (finally) that she doesn't walk on water and that her stuff is crap when she doesn't give a garment her full 100% attention. I 'bout lost it during the end of show interview that she was rationalizing things by transferring all the blame of her junk onto Michael. I wish she would grow up!

I've always liked Tim Gunn and now I know why. I'm sorry AJ has to leave, mostly because he was the only one to shoulder responsibilty for his part of the collection. Everyone else took the easy way out by blaming the one person in the group who could not be sent home. I do think Michael C needs to swallow a little Skele-Grow to stiffen his backbone but I give him credit for not jumping all over Gretchen in response.

Exactly - I thought AJ was at least mature enough to admit that he hadn't done something he was proud of. And he explained his thought process - make something tailored to show versatility. Everyone else acted like Michael was to blame for them making ugly clothes. And I thought Michael handled it quite well - he didn't break down and cry on the runway when everyone on his team was saying "He can't sew." I really have little respect for everyone left on that team.

I think that whole team needs to grow up. I knew as soon as Gretchen said they should go AS a team and stick together, she was going to be the first to throw the blame on somebody/everybody else.

What broke my heart was that he held Gretchen's hand to comfort her during the "we stand united" monologue and then she threw him under the bus! Kudos to his restraint - I woulda knocked her silly!

OMG!
I think this was one of my favoite episodes

EVER!!!
:lmao::thumbsup2:worship::banana::love::yay::woohoo::thumbsup2

I love when the underdogs win!

And I love-love-love what Tim Gunn said at the end! go Tim!:thumbsup2

I love Tim! I was so glad that he sat that team down adn let them know how he felt. I was also glad that the judges told Michael and that wicked nasty team that Michael won a challenge and that they liked his outfit.

I LOVED it! I wonder how long the judge's meeting was with the losing team. As it was cut, it looked like Gretchen switched sides so ridiculously fast, almost in one breath - "We loved our cohesive collection. But I couldn't do my stuff since I had to fix a crap collection." I wonder how long it really took. (I do have to say, though, that I'm glad I'm not a designer - I have no idea what the heck "a cohesive collection that tells a story" means! :rotfl:)

At least now not only the contestants have Gretchen's number, but so do the judges. I too must applaud Tim calling her out, and giving it to the other designers. It'll be interesting to see how the other designers deal with Gretchen from here on out.

She certainly is a piece of work, isn't she? I bet it did not take her too long to figure out that the judges were not buying that nonssense she was spewing and then to toss Michael under the bus. What a witch!

I think that Michael probably stayed quiet becasue he had immunity and so he let the others sink their own ships.

That was some of the best tv I've seen in a long time! Gretchen getting the smackdown that she so deserved was completely awesome. It really just seemed to me from the beginning that Team Luxe was trying to arrange it so it would be difficult for the judges to eliminate any of them (we'll each do a little peice of each garment.)

Then when they lost and Gretchen was trying to get someone to take the blame and they all said no. :rotfl:

But they said OVER AND OVER that they would do just that! The current night was considered only.

Problem wasn't that AJ went home as much as why didn't IVY go? She made those horrendous shorts and that BAD outfit. Sure, AJ made ONE outfit, but it was a tailored shirt dress. That takes TIME. Everyone else made simple pieces. He shouldn't have been punished for that.

I think Gretchen is staying for the drama of it. She is the villain and people like to see the villain get it BAD. I actually preferred the tongue lashing she got from Tim than her leaving! :woohoo:

And reality shows never lie.... :happytv:

I haven't noticed, but do they still run the disclaimer about the producers having a hand in the final outcome like they did when the show was on Bravo?

Gretchen is just an awful person. I feel like Tim has lost all respect for her. As have I.
I also thought Ivy's pieces were the worst.

They do - I noticed it at the end of last night's episode.

There are no words to describe this episode. I hate it that I agree with Gretchen.:lmao:

That black dress was ick. Mondo should have won imo or least someone else.:confused3

I think it was funny that all the self-proclaimed "cool kids" hated the dress that won and were so vocal about it before any judging was revealed - but I agree Mondo's dress should have won, instead.

Now, I admit I'm old and I get confused... but wasn't Andy's starting dress blue? Cerulean (I just rewatched "The Devil Wears Prada" this weekend ;))? But I didn't see ANY blue in his outfit. Or am I really off-base?

How could they possibly choose Michael C's dress over Mondo's? Michael C's was WAY overdesigned. I really liked Casanova's outfit - thought he should have been in the top instead of Micahel C. But Mondo definitely should have won.

Andy must have dyed his fabric because it was blue when he started. I'm surprised more of them didn't do that - but maybe it's a time issue?

I hated Gretchen's look - it looked like a costume for a Zombie movie. Valerie's was also just SO ugly. I wanted to strangle Michael D. everytime he tried to act like he was being so sensitive by not constantly pointing out that he had the one large lady up there, yet kept bringing it up. (Because we all know how freaked out the designers get if they have to design for real women - I'm not sure who they think would buy their collection - the world only has so many size 2s.) And he didn't even really design a new dress - he just shortened it and put some material on top. I would have much rather he went home - but lord, Peach's top was beyond bad - and that was material she bought so she couldn't even blame the original dress.

What does everyone think about the Michael C./Ivy accusations? I tend to think that he must have said something, since it was total strangers that reported to Ivy what he was saying. However, who knows if he said something more innocent and it got misconstrued. I loved that Ivy was so mad that he was talking about her behind her back, yet everytime Michael C. leaves the room they can't wait to bash him.

I thought that the bottom 3 were the worst 3, but Michael C's was definitely in the bottom half. I think the results were totally cooked for drama.

I NOW think the producers are telling the judges things that go on in the workroom

The judges seemed giddy that they were pissing off the designers who "threw Michael under the bus last week"-i think that is the ONLY reason they chose him

:sad2:

Mondo should have won:thumbsup2

I think that was a tough choice but Michael should have gone home. At least Peach admitted she got lost but Michael didn't even try. And I am about done with Andy. I did however like Ivy's look & her model looked good & I think it was one of the more wearable ones.

I really liked Michael's first winning design but there is no way this one should have one or even been in the top, and I think instead of being safe Gretchen should have been in the bottom, her outfit was ghastly.
I agree with everyone else Mondo deserved to win that one.

I was so sad to see Peach leave but I knew she would never make it all the way through. I liked most of her stuff (didn't care for her dress yesterday), therefore, I knew she wasn't doing "high" fashion. Of course, I was rooting for her because she was from my area but really felt she designed more for the Chicago area than super high fashion New York stuff which for runway usually means = no one would really wear that as is & they tweak it before they put it out in the stores for the masses (at least that's my opinion).

Unfortunately, I only got to see the tail end with the judging. I know one speculation about Ivy with Michael thing is that she created it herself. I don't know, did they show the person telling Ivy the information? One thing that keeps coming up is that the producers never SHOW Michael saying what Ivy says he did....and you all know they would have shown it. If you watched Next Food Network Star (I think?), one time a contestant attempted to do the "I never said/did that" and the next clip was of her saying it right where she was accussed of saying/doing it (I just looked it up, Debbie was her name). Seeing as I didn't see the whole episode I have no idea what really happened. I heard he just made a comment that "she wasn't very nice" when someone asked about the competition but that was all he said.

Next week's look interesting.

I was going to point out that at least Peach recognized how bad her design was when her model was on the runway - unlike pretty much every other designer, when I read

It was bad, but I'm sorry she's gone. It would have been so refreshing to keep ONE adult on the show as long as possible, instead of a bunch of whiny twenty- and thirty-somethings who feel they are each so perfect that they (a) can do nothing wrong and (b) have the 'right' and the 'talent' to judge their competitors.
