Project Runway, Season 5 Official Discussion Thread.

I think keeping Kenley was a producer decision - to prolong the agony. DH and I were so hoping she would be gone. Her dress looked like something out of an Little Mermaid cartoon - Ariel swims to a cocktail party.

:lmao: :lmao: :lmao: :lmao:
It's certainly better than her "Hip Hop" look last week!!

you've got to be kidding.

UGH

I don't wanna hear Kenley's voice anymore. DH thought she was hot, I thought she had amazing talent for the first few episodes and then BAM. Now I can't even stand to watch her. Which is unfortunate because I think she COULD be really good if she could take some criticism. DH and I both gasped when she did the "I wasn't going for elegant..HEIDI" deal. Come on, Kenley. Where's the gratitude for this amazing chance?

Last night Kenley needed to look to her right to see a perfect example of how to take being criticized by the judges. That was the hardest, I recall seeing, them come down on Korto. She did not defiantly argue with them, she made her point with the color and her style being there, but she listened to them and cried from the stress of it all. She didn't continue to argue with their points.

And in the waiting room and the group hug.....someone needed to get her panties out of a wad and get over herself. Pouting, refusing to share a hug with the group after an extreamly emotional judging.

As for Leeanne - enough with the pleats/draping. It's becoming a one-trick pony for me. You've done enough already.

I can't believe I haven't seen this thread before now! :rotfl2:

Kenly is an overgrown immature whinney mouthed little brat :headache: I just want to smack her upside the head! And to top it off, she really is dillusional about her "fashion sense"... she reminds me in that regard a bit of Vincent from season 3 :lmao:

Have any of you looked at the videos from Fashion Week? I can post the link... but if you prefer the suspense, I don't want to spoil it. :rolleyes1 Very interesting, though, and not what I expected!

Someone did post a link a bit back to a blog that showed the Bryant Park collections of the final 6. I think most of them were what I expected from them, but all different from the other. They are a diverse bunch.

If you check out Leanne's website (link below), you can see from her previous collections that she's really been big with the whole "pleating" thing... her "point of view" I suppose you could call it... it seems to work betton on some things than others for me...

I actually was pretty disspointed in Jerrel... I guess I expected more from him... not that he was my favorite but I just expected, I dunno.... more! :confused3

I didn't see it advertised and wondered whether there is going to be a reunion show with all the contestants this time... that's always been one of my favorite episodes!

Kenley's looked like a huge fuschia snake with weird danglies at the bottom of it. Couple that with her attitude and she should have been auf'd.

You know, your right. If Kenley had chosen a lovely and delicate pink charmeuse satin, (like LeAnne's material,) and created delicate flower petals bursting out of the bottom, like an upside down flower with the bud at the bottom, fixed the neck a bit, she might have had something really lovely.

I don't normally talk/yell at programs I watch, but I really wanted to shout "Grow UP, Kenley!", because the entire season she's poisoned her own potential with rudeness and an inability to recognize why the Judges are who they are. Not to mention, I could *never* imagine disregarding Tim the way she has ...

I studied with a famous artist who exhibits around the world and one thing he always says is: "Attitude monitors talent."

Kenley is a perfect example. We know we've seen great potential in her, but her own attitude in thinking she's better than everybody, her inability to take criticism, her way of alienating herself from others, her whining & complaining, renders her incapable of being taught or to grow, and no one wants to work with her or be around her. Many of us said we wouldn't buy her things. :p

Other examples of people whose attitude has curtailed their talent are:

Roseanne Barr Arnold Whatever - at the height of her career on a hit TV show, she became a nightmare to work wit. Her own mouth shot herself in the foot. Once her series ended, NO ONE would work with her again.

Debra Winger - same thing. She won an Oscar for Terms of Endearment, but her own inability to get along with others made no one want to work with her.

John Belushi - his drinking and drugging ended his life.

Elvis Presley - same thing. He got so big ego-wise, and doing things like shooting up TVs when he got mad, no one could have told him to lay off the drugs.

Russell Crowe - right after he threw a phone at a hotel employee, he came out with a soft, romantic comedy film. Yeah, right! No one went, because no one would believe him in it.

Then of course there's Lindsay Lohan and Britney, both egos get out of control.

Attitude monitors talent.

I found it interesting that Kenly said she spent half her life out at sea with her father, a tug boat captain, I think... if that is true, it's not surprising that she has such poor social skills...

But as Michael Kors pointed out, fashion is a business, and that's just going to kill her!

You said it!! Did you see Heidi's face when Kenley snapped "I wasn't going for elegance...Heidi!" I loved how Heidi called her out on her attitude and when she rolled her eyes, Heidi said "There! Right there! That's what I'm talking about!!" And she innocently said "What?" :sad2: Gimme a break!! I hope that she watched the entire season and saw what a complete brat she became.
Wow! Thank God Heidi finally called Kenley out on her attitude. It has been a long time coming as far as I'm concerned. Kenley has always had an attitude towards Heidi in particular and I don't know why. When she isn't talking over top of Heidi, she is totally dismissive of what she has to say. I don't know how old Kenley is, but she is very immature. I agree with the pp's...she does have a 14 year old mentality/attitude. I gotta watch this episode...it sounds like I missed a really good one. Does anyone know when they will re-air this episode?

Thank you very much! I just watched it. If I were one of the contestants, I would probably be pissed off with the outcome. I think it is a complete cop out. Someone should have been auf'd last night. It's like all that work they put into those final outfits was a complete waste of time. Why did they even bother?:confused3

Anyway, I found these articles on tvguide.com. Very interesting.

"Runway Video: Suede Reveals His Amish Ways!

Not only did we find out that Project Runway castoff Suede's real name is Stephen Whitney Baum, but we also learned that the designer started out his life attending Amish school churning butter with the best of them and loving the experience (minus the goat getting slaughtered, "that made Suede sad." Plus, find out what went through his head in coming up with his rocker outfit as well as what it was like showing at Bryant Park (clearly as one of the ringers).

"Court Blocks Project Runway Deal with Lifetime

NBC Universal won a crucial battle Friday in its bid to unravel Project Runway's deal with Lifetime.

A New York court agreed to temporarily block the Emmy-nominated reality series from airing on Lifetime, which inked a five-year deal with the show's producer, The Weinstein Co., earlier this year.

Runway, hosted by supermodel Heidi Klum, was set to air a new season on the women's network beginning in January. The fifth cycle ends Oct. 15 on Bravo.

Bravo's parent company, NBCU, claimed its rights were violated by Weinstein's deal with Lifetime.

"NBC Universal is pleased that the court granted our motion for a preliminary injunction against The Weinstein Company," the media conglomerate said in a statement. "The overwhelming evidence demonstrated that The Weinstein Company violated NBC Universal's right of first refusal to future cycles of Project Runway. After hearing all of the evidence, the court issued an order prohibiting The Weinstein Company from taking the show or any spin-off to Lifetime."

Lifetime said its agreement was valid and would continue the fight for the show.

"We are disappointed with the court's decision to grant the preliminary injunction against the Weinstein Co.," Lifetime said in a statement. "It's unfortunate that the people hurt most by this ongoing dispute are the loyal fans of Project Runway."

Ah, now his dissociative way of talking about himself makes more sense. It could be that a lot of the time he was Amish, he might of dreamed of the fabulous life "Suede" would have in the other world. He made up a new personae and is now actually living it, but at the same time, still dissociative from it. :(

Yes! To me it does. I don't get Lifetime channel. I'm gonna be very unhappy if I don't get to see the upcoming seasons.

If you watch the video in the link provided in pp, he talks about where his Suede personae comes from(college project). And that he wasn't raised Amish, but his parents sent him to an Amish family/school for a year. That totally fascinates me because I didn't even know you could do that. He sounds like a very interesting man.

I do get the Lifetime network but never watch it. I'm not very happy with the move either. I'm afraid it is going to kill the series.

Ah, I thought the little paragraph was all there was. He's actually very. . .NORMAL! He can be down to earth and very approachable when he's not being "Suede". He did say he wants to try film & TV now, so the "Suede" personae is mostly an act. Whew!

That is a perfect analogy!!! :thumbsup2

I get Lifetime, too, but I don't like the network... mostly bad movies with the same story-lines. My Mom and DH watch it all the time, so I know this. Every time DH turns it on, I over-rule him and turn it off. We can always find something else to watch on which we both agree.

Couple that with moving PR to LA. What is that going to do with the show? Will they find another designer to judge? Will Michael, Nina, and Heidi travel to LA to judge? Will we still have Tim Gunn? They have the right mix now, IMHO. Why mess with success by changing up the whole show? Do they want the same low ratings that Trump's show got when they moved the Apprentice to LA?

Tim Gunn said in that clip someone posted from the Craig Ferguson show that they are all still doing the show and acted happy about it (because they probably have to.) He mentioned how fashion wasn't big in America until Hollywood got big into glamour.

The thing that gets me about these reality/competition shows (American Idol, Project Runway, etc.) is that the contestants don't seem to realize that every show is a job interview, that every show is an AUDITION. They trash the other contestants, they whine and moan and complain, they back-stab each other, they seem truly deranged (especially on AI in the early rounds)...sheesh! Shut up, take your lumps and MOVE ON. Be a class act even if a judge is a jerk. TAKE the criticism, if you didn't have talent THE JUDGES (or the Human resrouces person or the Casting Director or the whatever) WOULDN'T EVEN BOTHER.

The other thing that gets me is that some of the contestants can't sew. At all. Duh, people...learn how to run a sewing machine people if you want to design clothing.

agnes!

::yes:: I agree.

Here's a short clip of a show Kenley called on on. (Well, probably the producers called her.) Even after watching herself, she still is pretty clueless about how others perceive her. :sad2: She only thought about the comments she made about Suede as an after thought.

Anyone have an Amex card and can provide us the link to the full version of the show? :happytv:
