Project Runway, Season 5 Official Discussion Thread.

I get Lifetime, too, but I don't like the network... mostly bad movies with the same story-lines. My Mom and DH watch it all the time, so I know this. Every time DH turns it on, I over-rule him and turn it off. We can always find something else to watch on which we both agree.
My DH wouldn't be caught dead turning on the Lifetime network...too many feminine hygiene commercials for him.:lmao:

Is it me, or should Kenley have left by now. I hate her!!!:confused3
:lmao: I don't think there are any Kenley lovers on this thread...or anywhere for that matter.

The thing that gets me about these reality/competition shows (American Idol, Project Runway, etc.) is that the contestants don't seem to realize that every show is a job interview, that every show is an AUDITION. They trash the other contestants, they whine and moan and complain, they back-stab each other, they seem truly deranged (especially on AI in the early rounds)...sheesh! Shut up, take your lumps and MOVE ON. Be a class act even if a judge is a jerk. TAKE the criticism, if you didn't have talent THE JUDGES (or the Human resrouces person or the Casting Director or the whatever) WOULDN'T EVEN BOTHER.

The other thing that gets me is that some of the contestants can't sew. At all. Duh, people...learn how to run a sewing machine people if you want to design clothing.

agnes!

My thoughts exactly. Kenley was very immature when talking about the other designers' creations. She thought everyone else's designs were ugly and hers was the only good one. talking about showing your insecurity. Yes, you have to have confidence in your own work, but that doesn't mean you can't admire someone else's too.

HA! Sounds like my former boss!!! Though he admitted to me that he knew that I was smarter than him and it ticked him off. He barely gave me credit for anything I did, but was quick to take credit for all of my ideas. My gosh, Kenley acts just like Bree did on last week's Desparate Housewives!!! :rotfl: :rotfl: :rotfl:

ACCC...can't believe the final three. Kenly needs a swift kick in the booty.

As much as I don't care for Kenley personally, I thought her line was better than Jerrels. It was just too busy and not cohesive enough for me personally.

My favorite is Lee Ann

I agree. I knew a couple weeks ago that Kenley was probably in the top three when a took a peek at their final collections from Bryant Park. I'm not a fan of Kenley's, but found myself liking a lot of her pieces in that final collection.

How cute is Tim Gunn? He was getting all verklempt....probably because their time on Bravo is coming to an end. I wonder how things are going to change once they move to Lifetime? Does anyone know if the there are any major changes coming...other than a new network???

I hate to admit it, but I agree. I really, really hope she doesn't win. I think and hope it will be LeeAnn.

Last night was not fair!!!

Last week, Jerell and Leann took 1st & 2nd place at what was supposed to decide who competed at Bryant Park. Both should have had immunity from last night's Wedding Dress challenge.

As much as I like here, Korto should have been eliminated.

Here's the explanation of the whole "showing but not competing thing":

"What are decoys? Designers who have been eliminated at the time of the live Project Runway fashion show, but who are still appearing as contestants on the episodes that are airing due to the lag in air time. Rather than have every blogger in the world post the real finalists from their cell phones, and contrary to what Heidi Klum is seen saying to the losers on television, ALL of the last five or six finalists get to show at New York Fashion Week, although it's true that the ones who have already been eliminated get a lower budget. No one outside of the show knows who they are, though, so the press reviews them as equals. "

Wow, did last nights show fly by or what? We saw maybe 5 minutes of each hometown visit. In the past, didn't the finalists get more than 2 months? I'm thinking they got between 3-5 months.

If Kenley's wedding dress was a copy of someone else's, she should have been eliminated for that reason alone.

I'm so disapointed Jerel left. Kenley should have been eliminated the last two weeks (hip hop and botonical) as her designs were clearly the worst. It just shows the producers where doing anything to keep her on. Why or why:confused3 do they want her in Bryan park?

They are shooting in LA. I don't think LA is going to have the same "vibe" as NYC.

I thought it was sad that Kenley was the only one who did not have friends or relatives around to meet Tim Gunn when he visited her.
Lee Ann wedding dress was my favorite of the four.

I agree. ::yes:: I think we were all set up. They probably told Kenley to make up a controversial character, (much like "Suede" is a created character) And they told her they would edit it in such a way that she would seem nasty, but, not to worry, in the end, we'd all fall in love with her.

Now, I'm thinking, they didn't eliminate someone last week because the producers clearly wanted to keep Kenley. They couldn't rationalize it with the dress she made last week, so they kept her. Jerrell WON the challenge last week, he wouldn't have been eliminated if they had eliminated someone last week. :sad2:

I agree with everything you said. Jerell was robbed!

If you edited the jewels on his dress, you'd have a wearable wedding dress. Korto's was just butt ugly. Was Jerell judged solely on the flowers in his "bride's" hair?

Leanne's dresses were gorgeous! She definitely won that challenge. Kenley's, even if it was copied from someone else, had a nicer dress than Jerell and Korto's.

Do you think that the final judging is solely based on what is shown on the runway or do you suppose, as I do, that the judging is complete when Tim goes to the hometown meetings and sees the entire collection? Even with the first dress Leanne made, her whole collection would have gotten her a place at Bryant Park, IMO.... not so much Jerrell's, even though his wedding dress was nicer than Korto's.

As much as I don't like Kenley's personality, I do like her clothes. I really didn't like Leanne's collection. All those pleets...ick. I am glad that the 4 of them "made nice." I was so sad to see Jarrell go. I really thought Korto's dresses were horrible last night.

How about when Tim pointed out to Kenly that having the rope ringing around the neckline like she did might be in.... ahem... shall we say, bad taste??????? :scared1: Who was surprised it never occurred to her???? :lmao:

I like Korto but she should've went home last night. I didn't like the bridal gown or the bridesmaid dress.

Jerrell should have been given immunity for winning last week's challenge. I wasn't crazy about his stuff this week but I like him overall. I think he should've listened to Tim about the bridal gown's bust and the flowers in the hair, while maybe over the top, is just the type of drama that designer use in their runway shows - JMO.

Leann, I like. But I fear the line being all one color and all similar may cause the judges to say it is boring. I can see her winning though.

Kenley. I don't think there is anything to say. She did have great stuff last night but she should've been gone before last night. I hope they didn't keep her around so she can win. I also saw by the previews that the "old" Kenley is back. Was she snapping at Tim again?

Don't they stop giving immunity late in the game?

Maybe immunity is the wrong word, I meant,

They do but when it's as important as being in the final 3 and the judges can't "make up their mind" who to send home an exception should be made.

Last season the top 2 were given spots in Bryant Park and the bottom 2 had to compete for the final spot. I think that should have been done again.

I kwow that they all got to show at Fashion Week but the prizes were not on the line and neither the exposure from having their line shown on tv.

JMO of couse.

I think her dress looked like there are a whole lot of ducks missing their featehrs. I HATE that dress. All it needed was the head flopped around the shoulder and it would have been a poofier verson of the dress Bork wore to an awards show years ago.

I thought it was sad that Kenley was the only one who did not have friends or relatives around to meet Tim Gunn when he visited her.

It was really sad.

If Nina doesn't call Leanne out on being a one trick pony - all her curved pleats - I will scream. She rode Uli all the time about her flowing smock dresses and Laura about the plunging neck lines. What they showed of Leanna's collection, it's all the same pleated accent.
