Project Runway, Season 5 Official Discussion Thread.

Whoa! This is a tough one. Though I loved seeing Kenley thrown under the bus. She acts like she's tough, when she really seems like a spoiled brat who's not used to being criticized.

Didn't they pull this trick last year? I really wanted Kenley kicked off. Kick the girl while she's down!!!! Ok, that was mean. But I don't like people like that. I have used her as a teaching tool with my daughter. I said this is what you will be like if you continue to backtalk authority, don't listen to criticism, and get very upset over tiny perceived insults.

Yeah, wasn't it Chris who was the 4th? He made the clothes out of human hair. Creepy, but interesting!

No one left.

I was ready for them to boot Kenley, too. ::yes:: I clapped when Jerrel told her to shut her pie hole. :woohoo:

I think they kept her just to get another episode out of this. They have another week to knock a designer off. I guess we can expect this next season, too. i also think the producers wanted her to stay because it's another week wondering if Kenley will be kicked off. Why get rid of the drama? They are keeping her mostly for effect.

MQ, I agree with you, they should have kicked her outdated bootie out the door for her attitude. It's a great teaching tool. Instead, she starts crying, a total spoiled manipulation, suddenly acting like the victim, "Oh! All my life, everyone's against me! I'm all alone!" Give me a break!

But the designers buy it. :sad2:

Well, I saw three chances where she could have been part of that team, made an effort. The first was when she was off in the other room working by herself, and they took some time to joke & be together.

The second was the next morning, when they were joking around again, & she just sat there and gave a  face.

The third was when Tim called her to get up for a group hug. She still couldn't do it. HER OWN actions are what alienate her. :sad2: I have no sympathy for her. :p If I saw her selling her clothes, I wouldn't buy them because I don't like who she is as a person.

Even Korto said she wants to be at Fashion Week with Jerrel & LeAnne because of the quality of people they are. :thumbsup2

Ooooh! That reminds me, I actually saw a Project Runway designer selling here at the big craft show, in NYC, last spring. She had a big, handwritten sign tacked up stating she was a former PR designer. It was one of the seasons I missed watching because my cable didn't have Bravo then. So I don't know who she was. :confused3 All the booths were closing down and I was doing a quick walk through to see if I might be missing something special. The clothes didn't look that special, so I didn't stop in or try to find out who she was. :(

If I see Kenley with a booth some time, I will probably just :p and walk by! ... Actually, no, I'd probably stop in to see if she's still making outdated clothes. :rotfl: I think my curiosity would get the better of me. :magnify: :lmao:

I haven't seen this weeks episode yet. Now I can't wait to watch it to see why Jerrel tells her to shut her pie hole.:lmao: That is too funny!

I was so disapointed in tonights show. Someone should have been sent home. I'd prefer Kenley to leave. They've had other shows when all the designs have been good or all bad and they managed to still send someone home.

This season is so "blaugh". The designs themselves have been nothing special. The designers have no personality. They all have problems with editing and time management.

Well, he didn't quite express it like that. :lmao: I was just glad someone finally told her to zip it. :yay:

Last night's show was so frustrating!! Why Kenley is still around is a mystery to me. I think that possibly the "guest judge" liked Kenley's dress better than Korto's- in order to prevent another "Wendy Pepper" situation (the dumb guest judge gave her the win at final 4, auf'ing Austin Scarlett, who CLEARLY deserved to show at Bryant Park more than her), the judges decided not to get rid of anybody, giving the better designer Korto another chance to get into the final 3.

Because, I'm telling you, if Korto had been auf'ed, there would have been some bigtime screaming at the TV last night!! And the judges know that she is probably the most talented designer of the bunch (her or Leanne).

Yeah, it was pretty good. The judges asked each of the 4 designers why they should show at Bryant Park, and who should show with them. It was Jerrell's turn, and he said that he thought Korto and Leanne deserved to show with him. Kenley interrupted him with her whiny "That's not fair!! You trashed me- nobody likes me!! Waaaah!" routine, and he told her that it was his turn to talk, and she would get to say whatever she wanted when it was her turn. He was actually much nicer than I would have been- I would have told her to shut the heck up!!

I liked when Jerrell finally quipped at the ernd that it should be "Jerrell, Leanne and Korto at 'the tent'...at the tent!" (two snaps y'all!)

Kenly is just an ugly human being...and I am not speaking of her looks.

As I was watching this last night and towards the end of the show, I was for sure they were going to boot Kenley.. With her attitude, she's not gonna go far in this business. Now I have to watch her again one more time next week. :sad2:

I think you are right, the judges just could not bring themselves to let Kenley stay and send one of the other designers home. I can't understand how they can get past her attitude, I know I would not be able to.

He really was pretty patient with her, you could see he was reining himself in. I know I would not have been able to restrain myself.

I'm not sure that the judges bought her act but I think that they do see some potential. I did in the beginning but somewhere that huge ego of hers exploded and she started making some crazy things.

I tend to support people and companies whose business practices appeal to me and tend to avoid buying from people or companies whose actions I find reprehensible. I think Kenley and her designs would fall into that category for me, I just could not bring myself to buy anything from her after seeing this show :sad2:

My first reaction last night was: :badpc: :badpc: :badpc:

I couldn't believe that they kept Kenley. At least Korto's dress was a pretty color. Kenley's looked like a huge fuschia snake with weird danglies at the bottom of it. Couple that with her attitude and she should have been auf'd.

I thought Jerrell's admonition was great. I thought Korto calling Kenley out in the back room was also in order. Kenley should be ashamed of herself.

Kenley should be ashamed of herself.

You said it!! Did you see Heidi's face when Kenley snapped "I wasn't going for elegance...Heidi!" I loved how Heidi called her out on her attitude and when she rolled her eyes, Heidi said "There! Right there! That's what I'm talking about!!" And she innocently said "What?" :sad2: Gimme a break!! I hope that she watched the entire season and saw what a complete brat she became.

I just have to say that I love Jarell. I think he is awesome! I think that his emotions, as well as Leanne's and Korto's, on the runway were real. Kenley was emotional because she heard all 3 of them say that they didn't want her to go to Bryant Park!

:lmao: :lmao:

People never see themselves the way others see them.:sad2: Kenley said that all her life she has been treated as an outcast and she didn't know why.  OMG, she is that clueless! When Tim called for a group hug and asked Kenley to *let bygons be bygons*, she didn't join them. She just sat there staring at them while they hugged. :sad2: Kenley continues to alienate the people around her with her rudeness and disrespect. :sad2:

I do think it would be horrible to essentially be told to your face, we don't like you. But she repeatedly said she didn't care about them or what they thought of her and she made sure they knew it. This wasn't a case of the popular kids picking on the outcast. None of those people were probably ever the popular kids.

I also love Jarell as a person. As a designer, I love Korto. Though I'm also rooting for her because she is a mom and is doing a great job showing her daughter dreams can come true if you work for them.

That was the part that got me the most. I'm in charge of assisting teens at the library where I work, and I've had more than my share of brats who must think I'm the biggest idiot in the world--say "What?" after rolling their eyes or cursing, interrupt me to say "I wasn't interrupting you!" ... that's consistently fourteen-year-old behavior. (No offense to fourteen-year-olds, of course ... 98% of them are well-behaved. :goodvibes )

I don't normally talk/yell at programs I watch, but I really wanted to shout "Grow UP, Kenley!", because the entire season she's poisoned her own potential with rudeness and an inability to recognize why the Judges are who they are. Not to mention, I could *never* imagine disregarding Tim the way she has ...

On the plus side, I loved seeing Jerrel/Corto/Leanne as Three Musketeers. I love it when the finalists get along.

When we met before the start of CCD this year, one of the teachers said that 7th graders are trying to figure out if they are adults or still kids. 8th graders are trying to figure out if they're human. :lmao: That's what you made me think of when you spoke of 14yo behavior. :thumbsup2

I was thinking this too.. either that or Bravo is dragging this out, going for a big finish as this is their last season.

I can't believe Project Runway would want someone with such a horrible attitude attached to their name. I know people hated Jeffrey's arrogance but to me, the immaturity and rudeness of Kenley is ten times worse than anything we saw from Jeffrey.

I tend to support people and companies whose business practices appeal to me and tend to avoid buying from people or companies whose actions I find reprehensible. DW MeanLaureen said the same thing. She would NEVER buy even a pair of socks that had anything to do with Kenley. (And with Kenley and her 50's fashion I guess they would be bobby socks )

I think keeping Kenley was a producer decision - to prolong the agony. DH and I were so hoping she would be gone. Her dress looked like something out of an Little Mermaid cartoon - Ariel swims to a cocktail party.

Only Ariel's clothes were nicer. :thumbsup2
