Project Runway, Season 5 Official Discussion Thread.

Same amount of contestants as every season. :confused3

Except for Season 1...there were only 12 that season.

Anyway, back to the Olympics...did you notice when they came out, that one of the commentators called their hats berets??? :happytv: I was yelling at my TV, "They're not berets, stupid!!!"

But in other seasons they did more challenges with groups of 3 or two designers together-and thus were able to cut out two or three on one show.

I think one rumor is next week's challenge , they are in pairs. that is ALWAYS a very tense show-because they NEVER agree on fabric or design and one "takes over".;)

I agree that it is hard to pick favorites from among them right now, but I think I usually have that problem at the beginning - either I pick one person and love them or am ambivalent for a while. And does this season have more contestants than usual? Just seems to be a big group.

I always take a few episodes to really settle in on my favorites. At first they seem to be trying to see what the judges are looking for.

I think that there seems to be more bizarre characters this season. As a whole I think there have been quite a few "characters" on the past seasons but not so whacked like I see this season. Blayne is just strange, Stella is annoying odd and if I had to live with Suede he would find how I use duct tape.

My DD was able to get Season One on NetFlics for me. We watched the first episode and I cannot wait to see the rest.

I love the team challenges, it is always fascinating to me to see how they work with each other.

Or don't work with each other as in most cases. Some of those people have egos way bigger than they should. But that is what makes it entertaining.

Yeah, can you imagine having to work with Stella? She'll have a field day if the person with whom she's assigned won't work with 'letha.'

:lmao: :lmao: that hammering would get on my last nerve!

I'd rather have hammering instead of Kenley's annoying laugh.

I predict the top three would be Terry, Korto and/or Kenley. Suede and Joe will be one of the higher up ones as well.

I read somewhere that Suede works at Mood IRL? Can anyone back that up?

I can't confirm or deny, but wouldn't that give him an advantage in the challenges since he'd know where all the "best" fabric is stored?

One other girl.. also has a connection with Mood. Emily mentioned in her exit interview that she had a hard time manuerving around Mood whereas Suede and this other girl (want to say Kenley--but I"m not sure) knew the store well and could get the employees to assist them easier.

They always shop at Mood. If I were trying out for the show, you'd bet I'd be a Mood memorizing every detail of the place.;)

I know they always shop at Mood. In Emily's exit interview, she said that some of the contestants had some inside knowledge-- like Suede (who works/worked there) and some other contestant.

If it was me, I'd be making notes on where each type fabric was and make a sketch so I could memorize it.

But that would be hard to do for some of the contestants. Think about the granny circle contestant from a couple seasons ago. She admitted that she'd never really been out of her home town before. It didn't sound like she and her DH had much extra money for her to be jetting off to NYC to tour Mood.

Are you talkin' 'bout Angela? B/c there is no way she can legitimately blame her crappy clothes on her inability to navigate a fabric store. ;) She, and Vincent, were awful, and were both on for far too long [and then, spitefully, brought back, only to be mercifully kicked off promptly].

Yep, she's the one I mean. In retrospect, I think that her inability to create wearable clothes for the masses would come from her focus on making clothing for her small town folk. You're right, knowing Mood's layout would not have made her a better designer. I figure that she was designing clothes for herself and for grannies in town. I remember the house dresses that my DGM wore EVERYWEAR. They were her Grandma uniform. There would have been no getting her to change the way she dressed. I picture Angela's clients to be very much like my DGM.

It was fun seeing Brooke Sheilds last night!:thumbsup2

I thought the top 2 outfits were really cute. I liked how Jerell (sp??) was so kind to Stella when she was the last one picked. As it turned out, I think they worked together best of all the teams.

I :rotfl2: when Brooke called Blayne "bratty". He sure it! I hated his outfit. The waistline of the shorts made the hips look much larger than they were. They were also to tight for the office. He had a good idea, poorly executed.

After the first challenge I really expected more from Kelli, but last week her outfit was bad and this week it was worse. I also do not like Daniel - he's kind of a jerk and not as talented as the rest of them.

I loved Jerrell & Stella's outfit. I thought it looked classy, but also breezy, fun and exceedingly wearable.

Kurto & Joe - the dress Joe made looked like it had some fit issues, but it was alright. I thought the jacket was just a smidge over the top.

Terri & Suede's outfit did not look like office wear at all. Nice for an evening out, but not really business style for the daytime.

LeeAnn & Blayne - Those shorts needed to be a darker, richer fabric and higher waisted. The shirt was way to casual. She looked like she was planning a day to night transition for a vacation, not a regular day at the office.

Kenley & the winning dude (can't remember his name) - I didn't see this as an office outfit either, but it did look like it was made specifically for Brooke Shields.

I kind of wanted Jerrell & Stella to win, but wasn't disappointed with the actual winner. Kelli's design looked *so* mid-1990's, like something Amanda would wear on Melrose Place. And the fabric looked so cheap. Maybe she was going for the day-to-evening hooker look?

I liked Jerrel and Stella's best too. Although the shirt of the winning outfit was pretty cool.

It's funny, on www.bravotv.com, when you rate the runway, Blayne's outfit is ranked lowest. Do you think, <gasp>, that the producers had something to do with him staying last night? :scared:

While his outfit was cute for an afternoon picnic, it wasn't work-appropriate in any way for an office environment.

I liked Kurto and Joe's outfit. The outfit was supposed to be bohemian and that jacket fit that bill well, I thought. Not my style, but neither is bohemian.

With Terri and Suede's outfit, I thought the same thing... bohemian and not necessarily inappropriate for a movie executive.

I loved Jerell and Stella's outfit. That was very stylish and they worked well together. He actually surprised me by coming up with something so nice this week.

I agree with Todd&Copper about the winning outfit. It did look like it was made especially for Brooke Shields. I also agree that Daniel has little talent and was able to pull something over the judges eyes in order to get into this competition. While I don't think it should have been Kelli to leave, she was a close second to Blayne IMHO.

Blayne will stay around a bit longer b/c he is designerlicious!
