Project Runway - Season 3 Official Thread (SPOILERS!!!)

My guess for the "jet setter" challenge on next week's show is that they'll be creating new uniforms for some airline flight attendants. Didn't they do that in season 1 or 2 w/US Postal Service uniforms!? That's the only thing that made sense b/c they were so disappointed in the previews. I think they thought they'd be designing for some huge celeb. and it'll turn out to be flight attendants who are the "jet setters".

Funny but the Air Force is looking to redesign their Service Dress uniform and I recently remarked to my boss that they should go to Project Runway. You bringing up flight attendants just makes me wish it really was the Air Force they were designing for. You should have seen what the uniform board had narrowed down to their top two choices - both of which were loudly protested by the masses in the Air Force. So the Air Force recently announced they are going back to the drawing board. I think Project Runway designers would do a much better job ;)

Maybe the Air Force hasn't gone back to their own drawing boards ... but to those at Project Runway!!!!! You never know, right?!!? Your guess at Air Force is just as valid as my guess at flight attendant uniforms!

See, now Angela should have brought that point up when describing her dress. She should've avoided the whole "Audrey Hepburn" thing and said "Well, the mom had a shawl w/fringe on it when I met her for the consultation, so I decided to incorporate that part of her original style into this outfit". However, they are totally on the spot and could never think of that off-the-bat!!!! But, it would've been great if she shot that little point off to Nina Garcia and Company.

BTW -- why do I hate Nina Garcia so much!?!?!? I want to hit her on the head w/a frying pan!!!!! She bugs the bejeezus out of me!!!!!!

Huh, she doesn't bug me at all. I like her comments. Maybe Angela did mention the fringe on the shawl. I didn't think of that originally (can't think as fast as you DAXX ;), perhaps they edited it out? :confused3

edited to correct grammar and spelling.

Maybe the jet "setters" will be the crew who restock the supplies on the airline before it takes off again... you know, the people who set-up the jet.

I'd think that would be a more boring design concept than that of AF dress uniforms or FA uniforms, at least for those creative forces on PR. :goodvibes

I think the person who had a design styled best for them was Michael's mother. It looked like something that she might wear, given the outfit she had on when we met her. I thought it was pretty.

I liked the outfit Uli designed, too.

I've always disliked shirt dresses on me, so Michael's didn't turn me on. I didn't like Vincent's. Robert's looked like the plus size outfits from years ago when mumus were the only thing that a heavier woman could find to wear. I didn't like Angela's either.

Do you think that Laura "slipped" about the baby in front of Michael Kors for sympathy votes? Michael Kors: "Well, the outfit is rather dowdy, but you know she does have all of those children to raise." That kind of thing....

I hated to see Robert go, considering he designed for Barbie. I just don't see the connection.

I like Nina.

I don't think M. Kohrs & mother a.k.a. celebrity judge, should have been socializing with the group. He needs to be aloof and intimidating, like Nina Garcia.

I actually liked Vincent's outfit last night -- I think that's the first one of his that I have liked. He is growing on me a bit. He doesn't annoy me as much as he did in the beginning.

I felt really bad for some of the plus size mom's last night. They were treated as if they couldn't wear normal pants and tops by the designers. Who would think that a big tank type dress or that mumu type dress Robert did would look good on someone heavier? I would have made them a two piece skirt set or some pants and a top with some definition. I mean, they aren't built like solid blobs. They do have a waist, even if it is larger than the designers are used to designing for.

I still don't know why they like Angela so much and keep her around. Robert's may have been dull lately and this mumu dress he just did was not good, but I still think he was more talented.

My favorites are Michael and Uli.

I like Nina.

I thought Uli should have won. :sunny: Great design and conquered the plus-size issue.

Jeffrey, is this really the exposure you wanted on national TV as a designer? -- dufuss!

If Vincent has immunity, imagine what he'll design next week? :rotfl:

Is it my imagination or did Laura only bring 3 or 4 outfits w/her for this show?!

It seems like she only wears the low cut black top (that shows her bony chest), the riding outfit and the white collar shirt/black sweater combo.

I'm sure it's prob. the same w/the other designers, but I don't notice it as much as I do w/Laura.

Am I nuts? Or do the other designers repeat what they wear and I'm not noticing it?!

I agree, no immunity for this challenge. Wonder if it was because they were designing for regular people and the models weren't included as well?

Regarding Angela - she has made two outfits that I loved. The black Audrey Hepburn dress, it was divine! Then the 3 piece pantsuit that won the window display. That was great as well. Not sure why the judges like her so much, perhaps the "construction" of her garments is good. :confused3

Liking this show more each week.

Uli was robbed! She should have won. She did an amazing job with a plus outfit which I think speaks volumes more of a designers talent than a good sample size. She really does use prints well. The proportions were perfect and it was very flattering to her model. This truly was an outfit for the everyday woman.

I liked Michael's dress, too. I would wear it myself-- but change the belt up a bit. Robert's sister was working that runway! I thought she was a professional model!

Angela still annoys me to no end. I can't stand her! She needs to stop with the dramatic outbursts and facial expressions which only seem to happen when Heidi and Co are around. She also seemed to fuel the "fight" between Jeffrey and her mom. She wasn't playing very fair-- she pretty much told her mom to tattle on Jeffrey in hopes he would be auf'd. (Angela's mom bugged me, too, for some reason-- I kept wanting to yell at the TV "It's not all about you, Angela's Mom!")

I don't think Angela is a talented designer. Her INC challenge win was only due to Laura and Michael. Her Audrey dress was too fussy, IMO, and it had those stupid rosettes all over it. Her design this week made her model look frumpy and stumpy. It cut her off and made her look bigger than she is. It didn't seem to fit very well. Fringe-- ug! Fringe is not classy, especially in that context! Less is more, Angela! Her designs are not sophisticated, they are very hippie-ish/arts and crafts/homemade. Her construction isn't that great-- think of some of the earlier challenges where the judges ripped on her for unfinished/uneven hems, etc. I don't think the judges actually love her, I just think she is just mediocre and skating by each week as somebody else does worse.

Poor Robert-- what the heck happened?!? He has slowly been getting worse and worse. I expected more from him but I do have to agree with the judges that a tank dress was not a good choice. His only defense was that he listened to the client but there is such a thing as listening too much to the client-- think Nora and the wedding dress challenge from Season 1.

Did anybody else notice that Laura's mom did not seem happy when Laura mentioned baby #6? Not happy at all... Laura has great construction skills but her people skills could use some work. Her outfit was okay, but could have been more flattering to her model. Daxx -- she does repeat outfits but the other designers do as well-- I think Laura is just more noticible because she tends to wear evening clothes and show off her bony chest. Much more noticible than if somebody wears the same T-shirt in two episodes. You just have to pay more attention to the other designers.

Kayne and his coral adult bib disaster....yikes! He needs to step it up because he's headed the way of Robert.

Jeffrey-- while I don't condone his treatment of Angela's mother, I still like Jeffrey as a designer. Also keep in mind that the judges only see the finished outfit-- they don't see all the workroom drama. It was an ugly outfit, but it was similar to what she was wearing when they met with the layering and collared shirt and whatnot. Also, I don't think Jeffrey was happy with the assignment. Yes, he should listen to his client, but designers can also pick and choose clients and I doubt Jeffrey would have a client like this. His mother was so proud of him-- she actually brought tears to my eyes!

Vincent-- I think he does much better with a specific client and a good outline. I think he won because the judges were so suprised he didn't make a hideous garment. It was actually wearable. I'd never wear it, with the weird collar, but it was wearable. BTW-- on Tim's Take on bravotv.com-- Tim is clearly not impressed with the win!

I thought Heidi looked lovely last night. I adored seeing Michael Kors and his mom-- there is a strong family resemblence.

I also thought flight attenedant for next week's challenge. It's a shame Robert was kicked off because his INC challenge look would have been perfect...(the judges blasted it for looking like a flight attendent outfit)

Some airlines are actually hiring designers to make flight attendant uniforms. Kate Spade designed for Song. Pucci designed for an airline in the 1960s. Korean Air hired Gianfranco Ferre. Richard Tyler is working for Delta. Christian Lacroix designed for Air France. Yves Saint Laurent worked for Qantas, Calvin Klein for SAS and Ralph Lauren for TWA. If it is a flight attendant challenge, the designers will have a lot to live up to.

How could you miss that look of sheer horror on her face!??! She was like "are you freaking kidding me!??!?!" She seemed appalled by the fact that Laura was pregnant again. Makes you wonder what things are like w/the 5 kids in Laura's house!!! I'm shocked that her mother would act in such a manner -- even if caught off guard, I think I'd be all "that's so wonderful, honey!" But, her mother looked absolutely horrified and she never really snapped out of it! She never went into "happy grandma" mode! I wonder what gives on that?!

You're def. right ... Laura's outfits are def. more noticible b/c they're "out of the ordinary" compared to the other designers. I swear, I want to send her a sweater and tell her to cover up that bony chest. It is frightening! Doesn't she realize it looks awful!? You'd think someone would say something to her. I think she wants everyone to see that she's super skinny even after having 5 kids.

I love your description of Kayne's outfit. It made me laugh. :lmao:

Grandma's reaction definitely makes me wonder what is going on in that family... of course, it could have been something like Laura was on BC and never supposed to get pregnant again and that is where the shock came from....Who knows? It was a little strange... Laura didn't seem too thrilled either...

LOL at your sweater comment! There are ways to look glamorous without exposing one's ribcage. I think Laura is maybe trying to play up a character with her clothing choices. I doubt she wears the black cocktail dress to her architect job. Her designs tend to be the same as her personal clothing. I didn't think the lace dress was the best choice for her last night...

Honestly, the first few episodes I thought she had a masectomey and I was ready to applaud her for surviving breast cancer and being bold enough to dress like that. Now, though, I realize she's just super skinny. In recycling episode, one of the...er..."girls"... looked like it was trying to escape the extreme V-neck and I was getting ready for Bravo to do some pixelating. Yikes!

I know!!!! I was totally waiting for it to pop out and for the pixelation and for the other designers to be laughing hysterically!! It was getting dangerously close to popping out!!!! Do you think the camera people were hoping it'd pop out?!!?

Wasn't it when she was yelling at Vincent about his model's walk? Or maybe when she was being mean to Kayne?

That was what really made it funny to me because she was upset about something and it was ready to pop out...hard to take her seriously...

So, anyone have a predictin for the final 3? I'm predicting Michael definetly, then Uli or Kayne, but not both of them, cause I'm sure the producers will give that third spot to someone who evokes drama and really doesn't deserve it...llike Angela, Vincent, or Jeffrey.
