I want to make programs- I have the Mickey Template- but as of right now I can't make the circles right now. I am looking into other options- although I still think I would like to make a fan because my wedding will be in the middle of the day.

What did you write on your programs?
What was your wording?
Any pics?

As always- Thanks so much!!

There are pics in my TR.

I had no problem with the template and making the fan design...the problem is cutting them out. I consider myself a pretty crafty person and I found it impossible. If you don't mine the edges being jagged, then you can do it yourself. But if you need them perfect, I have no idea how it can be done. I know one person here did it and she is a god, simply put. If you use really thin paper, I think it might be doable with the circle cutters. If you use thick cardstock, I found none of them cut through on one go-around and it was impossible to line them up perfectly to do it twice. I used several different brands of circle cutters.

I eventually just gave up and threw money at the problem.

I plan to make them myself but I bought a cricut expression so that I could cut out the Mickey heads perfectly. There is a cartridge called "Mickey and Friends' and it has a mickey head icon. The machine and cartridges are pretty pricey, I bought them all on ebay so saved a little on them, but it would have cost me a small fortune to have Impressions do them since we're inviting 90 guests. I also plan to use the cricut to cut out designs for my table names, place cards and welcome bags.

I'm with pezaddict. I have the Cricut. When I first expressed interest in making our STDs, invites, programs, etc., I relayed my cutting frustration to my DF. He knew I am a perfectionist and would never be happy with non-uniform, jagged Mickey heads. :lmao: As an Easter present (yes, we give gifts on Easter and every other silly holiday we can find), he bought me the Cricut. I'm in love. :lovestruc Every Mickey head is the same....every last one! Thin paper and thick card stock alike. While you can't use Joann coupons on the actual Cricut machine, you can use them on the cartridges. Plus, they often go on sale at Michael's and Joann's for up to 50% off. I don't ever pay full price for a cartridge.
The tricky part is lining text up in whatever program you're using to print on blank card stock, so that when you put the card stock in the Cricut the text is centered on the Mickey head. But, I've been using Photoshop because of the detailed rulers and I've got my invites lined up perfectly for cutting. I plan to do the same thing for my Mickey head fan programs. (Just haven't gotten far enough in my planning to type up the program.)
If you go the the Cricut route, feel free to ask questions. I think a few of us on the wedding boards use it. Plus, there's the scrapbook boards. Lots of Cricut users there.
I'm going to be able to make my invites, programs, STDs, menus and place cards using my Cricut, so I think it's well worth the investment DF made. Plus, I use it for all of my scrapbooking and card making. :goodvibes

Does anyone know how much Shelley at Impressions charges for each Mickey fan? :confused3

$5.75 per fan
$1.85 per bow
$55 for program typesetting
$19.59 for Disney licensing fee
$45 delivery fee to Disney
+tax

So depending on how many you need, it might be worth it to buy the cricut machine and do it yourself.
