Hi everyone. We are staying at Old Key west in october with my husbands family and there will be 10 of us. My MIL wants a family photo but I'm not sure if someone at disney will do these or if there is someone in the orlando area. Also where would be a good place to have it made? Thanks!

Back in August we used Disney's PhotoPass Resort Photo session for family portraits. The basic session is for 25 minutes and you can purchase the CD and select a print package for $99. DVC members pay $79. There was a thread here not too long ago about it.

And here is another thread with lots of pictures from sessions that will give you an idea of what the shots look like. You'll see some pics from our session on post #37.

As a professional photographer (sorry flame me if you must) most of the photos I have seen from the resort photo sessions aren't up to professional photography standards, they are mostly snapshots by someone hired to take pictures. Granted they aren't charging you as much as a professional photographer would. A well done photograph of ten people isn't that easy to pull off. If the photo examples you think are good enough then use them if not I'd look into a professional.

We have used the Disney Photopass family sessions a couple of times with groups of 12-15. Some shots are ok, others are fantastic. Our best success was at Grand Floridian. The setting was beautiful, and the photographer was creative. The point is to capture the group together, to have a momento from the experience. I think for the money, you will get at least a few portraits you will be happy with! Just be prepared, that if the photographer is not creative, you can stage people and make suggestions!

We also had a Disney session at beach Club last year. Most shots were just ok, some were bad, but there were a few that were great. And how many shots do you really need? Just one great shot that everyone can frame. With the DVC discount the session only costs $80 and you get the CD with a release. Well worth it, IMO!
