I finally got around to calling WDW to reserve a room at Pop Century for the first part of my trip (my son wants to try Pop Century so we'll stay there a couple nights and then transfer to POFQ for 3 nights). The only AP rates left were for preferred. I shouldn't have put it off!

At least there are rooms available or I'd really have some explaining to do. I didn't think to ask about other codes. Duh! Maybe it wouldn't have made a difference.

So don't put off what you can do today or it may cost you (at least mine is a cheap mistake) :)

I hear you! I never would have thought that this time of year could be so busy, and pricy. We decided, actually the family ganged up on me, to go the first weekend in Feb. in addition to our trip the first of May. I was flabbergasted when the rates were quoted to me. No code rooms, there is a blackout and the same with AP rates. If we could come in a day early I'd save a total of ~$400 on the length of our stay. Not doable. I wound up booking the Swan through DU. Rates are actualy very good, $159 a night with DIS room category upgrade and late checkout. Live and learn.

Yes, I will call back. I figure that it won't hurt to keep trying, other than my time on hold.

rcraw45425, I'm not sure what room bookings Disney thinks that this MYW is going to create. Looks like after January the values will be $74--the discounts are very small. Makes my $61 preferred room at Pop seem pretty good. My rate for the balance of my stay at POFQ is $79/night. Problem is I keep comparing my Pop rate to what I had a couple weeks ago--$49.

It will be interesting to see if there are a lot of room vacancies and what discounts Disney offers later. Our APs expire the beginning of Feb and I'm glad that I choose 2004 for my AP unstead of waiting a year (I can't go so far as to say that I'm glad the APs are expiring, however :) ).

Have fun at the Swan--we stayed there a few years ago and really liked it.
