Problems with school clothes shopping?

I haven't been able to find normal length shorts in years! Everytime I go to the store, I see shorts shorter than I've ever seen. It's really getting sad. Even in the womens section the shorts are getting shorter. I basically gave up all hope and wear capris.
I actually saw a girl once wearing board shorts that were shaped like underwear. No joke. They had the curved butt area, just like underwear. Uh, sorry, no. Not happening.

My DD13 got some long/knee length shorts at Aeropostale. They have size 00 and 0. We can't buy shorts for DD10 to wear to school. She is so thin. We just buy all capris for her.

My son's school has uniforms, which makes it so much easier. Walmart, Target, etc all carry the standard uniforms in the right lengths for school standards. I do agree it is very difficult to find regular girls/ladies shorts that aren't too short, but I have usually had luck finding them for myself at JCPenney.

My only problem school clothes shopping for my son is he wears a 3T short/pant and they don't make uniforms that small!

Uniforms are fine and dandy but they still don't solve my problem of an skinny, skinny boy with long legs. He needs a size 12 for the waist and a 14-16 for the length. If I buy him a 14, they are about 3" too big in the waist, too big for even a belt.
