Problems with our vacation plans

We're leaving for WDW on December 4th and getting back on the 15th, nice, long vacation for us.

I recently took a new job at the plant that I work. A lateral move, no extra pay but a nice change of pace. I'm lucky enough to work in a place that is big enough that I can change jobs every couple of years if I get bored.

Unfortunately, my last department did not transfer my vacation requests to my current department. This would not have been a problem if they would have moved me to my new position in a reasonable amount of time instead of the 9 months it took them to move me.

Now it looks like I won't be able to get to Orlando until the 8th. I'll miss Cirque and our first visit to the Candlelight Processional. I was out of work for 2 months because I hurt my back and I hate the thought of spending more $ for another plane ticket to get down there to meet them. Of course, that's secondary to not flying down with them and missing those 4 days of WDW memories.

I'm the one who makes 95% of the plans and it irks me that I may miss some of it. I guess I should be happy that I'll probably get to go on the 8th...yes, still a slight possibility of not being granted any vacation.

Just wanted to vent, Thanks

Sorry to hear you are going to miss some of the fun but Im glad you still get to go. Our last trip was shorter than we like but we did have a good time. My cure for it was to start planning out next trip :teeth: --our next LONGER trip, lol. Oh and I make all the plans for my family too, otherwise they would just wander aimlessly around the parks.

I just missed a small mini-vacation with DH and DD#1 because DD#2 was sick. I know the feeling of being left behind:( Enjoy the time you will get with them from the 8-15.

I had something similar to that when my manager "forgot" to transfer my request from one manager to another- When I found that out I just basically told them either they pay for the cancellation fees or I will not be here that week. Needless to say I enjoyed my week at Disneyland... :) -em

Since it's the same company, you should have some leverage. The vacation was approved. The company drug it's feet getting you transfered. Management screwed up not transfering your vacation. If they won't budge on the time off, then they should pick up the tab for the additional fees due to the change. If the company is big enough for you to move around between jobs, it is big enough to have a policy on this type of thing.
