Problems with Mickey's Philharmagic?

It’s a family favorite and we try to see it multiple times every trip.

There seem to be no fast passes available for Philharmagic beginning 4/16/18 and lasting for at least 3 weeks. Has there been any word about a previously unannounced refurb? Or maybe Disney is experimenting with eliminating fast passes for this attraction as it clearly does not need it?

I can’t imagine Disney removing FP...not sure what it would accomplish...but if this is closed I will be super sad! This is one of my parents favorite attractions and we are going for their 70th birthday celebration from April 18-24th!! Boo hoo!

I just checked for our two MK days may 8 and 10 and it's not available.... I'm so sad! My kids loved this on our first trip.and my.oldest doesn't like rides. This and TSMM are two of his favorites

Hmmm, that's interesting. I can't say it's a favorite and I think we even skipped it last trip but it's a great middle of the afternoon attraction.

I don't understand the need for a FP for this attraction at all. Even when the line "looks" long we have never had to wait any longer than the length of a show that is currently underway. If you get a FP you will STILL have to wait the same amount of time as everyone without a FP before the theater begins seating. The theater is enormous. Even during the busiest times I have never seen the entire theater full.

Agree. Maybe they're just covering up the FP machines (not offering FP) for a trial time period? FP for this makes no sense. Maybe they felt bad for the people who didn't realize it isn't needed (and chose it 60 days out, instead of Pan, or even Dumbo (I'd guess only people with small kids - so can't do coasters - would even consider choosing this FP).)

On one hand, if it is in fact closed for refurb, that's good as it could probably use it. On the other hand, that means it may be closed when we go in two weeks.

Anyone remember the time of the old paper fast passes when they would randomly spit out bonus fast passes for Mickey’s Philharmagic? That’s how we saw it the first time. Didn’t even know about it until we got that bonus fast pass

I love Philharmagic so I checked and it's an option for the first day of my trip-May 20.

Just checked, not an option for FP+ all day Sun. May 6 which is when we will be in the park.

According to the app, the ride is up and running today with 5 minute wait times in standby, but no fast passes are available. There's no unannounced refurb yet.

It looks like FP will be unavailable, because they are temporarily re-purposing the queue.

From April 16 to May 3, the Disney PhotoPass Studio inside of Castle Couture (located next to Cinderella Castle at the Magic Kingdom Park) will undergo enhancements and temporarily relocate to the indoor FastPass+ queue of Mickey’s PhilharMagic. When the Disney PhotoPass Studio reopens in Castle Couture on May 4, there will be additional backdrop options, new props, and upgraded lighting.

The same is true for Muppets (MGM), Bug (AK), Disney/Pixar Shorts (Epcot), and probably a few others. On the flip side, seemingly useless FastPasses are great for getting to your 4th FastPass so you can reride something or get a second Tier 1 at the parks that use tiering.

They are using the FP queue for the photopass studio while it is being refurbished.

Yeah I think this has something to do with the PhotoPass studio being closed and needing to use the Philharmagic's space to serve PhotoPass guests....

Not that I want to happen soon, but Philharmagic is need of a refurb. The theatre itself is in rough shape.

The film stopped a few minutes into the film when we were there in September, and it took them a good 20 minutes to get going again. They were encouraging people to leave, but it was pouring rain so we waited it out.

I've had issues with the 3D in there lately, too. The two sides weren't aligned properly or something and I just had double vision the whole show.
