We called for friends yesterday for a 2 Bedroom at Bay Lake April 10-15th. We were told that both Lake View and Magic View were available. My friends wanted the Lake View so I called back right away, Lake View is now gone, all that's left is Magic View. Call my friend again and he says to upgrade to the Magic View. So I call back and both Lake and Magic are there again. Hmmmm, so I tell them to please book the Lake View, as they're booking it....it disappears. So I tell them to book the Magic View....again it disappears. They then put me on hold. Eventually a Manager comes back and said that these were "false inventories" and they don't have any rooms at Bay Lake. In fact, this has been happening all week and they are overbooked for Bay Lake and aren't sure what to do at this point as there are a lot of people who currently don't have rooms and think they do. Just a warning to anyone staying in Bay Lake for April, their reservation system might be off and you might not have a room.

They are probably just the rooms for the new class of resale purchasers who can book only phantom vacations.

Hope that doesn't happen in July too. We've got a reservation in the middle of the month...

Y-ASK

Well, if this is true and it pans out, these boards are going to be on fire with furious DVC owners.

So, what does happen when you show up with a reservation and there is no room? I'm sure there is something in the POS that says they are able to move you to the closest Motel 6 and you'll be happy about it because actually getting a room is a "perk" and something that can be cut at any time.

We've got a std view studio booked April 2-9 that we booked on our 11 mo mark. I wonder how they'll decide who gets their resie and who doesn't ? I'd be willing to move to the poly or grand, concierge level of course to make up for the lack of kitchenette! Lol! Should I call and volunteer?!?

I just booked a 1 bedroom Lake View for July yesterday. Hope there isn't a problem with the reservation. I was actually surprised that it was available. they also had Boardwalk standard and boardwalk views available.

That is a little scary, isn't it? I can only imagine what will happen with online booking.

You are trying to book Easter season now??? I don't think you are going to get anything anywhere.

With a busy time like that, it is possible something could be available and minutes later it's gone.

I hope this isn't happening at other resorts as well. I called Saturday and was able to book BWV 1 BR for the 1st week in April. I was shocked it was available. I will be furious if I show up at BWV and they tell me I don't have a room.

oh, i thought maybe that's the reason why they started pitching
up tents behind the resorts + portable potties ?

...if there is a real problem, my guess they will go by the "times"
rooms were booked & then re-locate those over , back to their
home resorts? what could they do if this was a honest/computer
error but refer to the contacts.

Exactly how long with the flame thread get on the boards now?

did anyone else have trouble figuring out what the above quote meant?

I'm not sure I understand this either--are you saying that if someone booked at 7 months who owned at a different resort, and a BLT owner booked at 4 months that the non-BLT owner would get bumped back to their home resort? What if there wasn't availability at their home resort? And even if there was, personally I think the "fair" thing would be to go by when the booking was made. The BLT owner who made their reservation at 4 months shouldn't have gotten a reservation in the first place. DVC would not have bumped the non-BLT owner to give a BLT owner their reservation at 4 monts.

Until DVC decides to remove the "perk" of being able to book at other resorts I don't think it would be fair otherwise.

This is not the first time something like this has happened--I believe there was a similar issue at AKL last year. Lots of furious DVC members.

Disney's IT department is abysmal.

If this happened to me I better be upgraded to a deluxe hotel and get a free dining plan. I can see maybe overbooking one or two villas because some go out of service at the last minute; but it sounds like the problem is bigger than that. DVC needs to get its act together.

I agree, Does anyone remember what happened last year with the overbooking at AKV? I would not be happy if DVC tried to move me over to OKW or SSR. I would be the crazy guest yelling at the check-in desk.

Due to customer demand......

:cool1:

Do you think this could have anything to do with the new BLT inventory that was declared over at OCC at the same time they made the announcement about the new Resale policy? I'm wondering if perhaps the inventory for those newly declared rooms was somehow entered into the system prematurely. Perhaps one of our resident OCC document gurus could figure out if this was a possible explanation...?

I'll tell you what, If I get upgraded to a deluxe hotel AND get the free dining plan, then I would welcome getting overbooked!!:thumbsup2
