Hmmm, that's interesting. I have never heard that kind of response from a woman who lost a child before. Not saying that's bad, just an observation. The folks I've known who've had miscarriages were devastated.

Up until now, I thought Areal Mae had cornered the market on insensitivity on this thread, but that one at least equals her remark.

So when you had these miscarriages, did you walk away with an, "Oh well," and never give the "fetal chicken" another thought? Just curious.

Of course you give them another thought. I had 2 miscarriages. But, then again I only believe in abortion in them most dire of circumstances. And for me, it's mostly a privacy issue. I trust women to make the right decisions and I don't think most politically active pro-lifers do. There's too much propaganda about abortion as birth control or 2nd trimester abortions because the woman didn't like her maternity clothes, ad nauseum. That's a lack of respect for women and not respect for the fetus.

So first you call Chobie a troll and now you question Jenny's knowledge of Jewish law. Good luck.

No, I was questioning the topic. I had never heard of it before, and was asking Jenny to explain it.

What on earth does adoption have to do with rape/murder/molestation/robbery? :confused3

You could have your child adopted by someone who could later turn out to be one of the above...not a risk I, personally, want to take.

With men, it's a control issue.
Whenever I see an anti-abortion bumper sticker on a car, I just KNOW there's a man driving - and when I pull up, there he is.

The person waving the fetus signs? White man, right? Right.

It's all about sexual control. They don't care about anyone's life.

Not only is that a seriously broad generalization but it seems like really outdated thinking to me. I dont even know any guys my age or within 20 years of my age who have a strong opinion against abortion. I do know some who think its wrong but dont think its their place to say or they vote pro-life but not because they're trying to control women's bodies. Sure some guys have control issues but that doesnt mean all men with an opinion on abortion are trying to control women. You're undermining their opinion and that just seems unfair to me.

JennyMominRI has the courage to reveal her own personal and devastating example to try and help explain her stance in this issue and you pop off with this smart-aleck response?

Good Goddess, it was a question, not a snarky comment. She got it. She replied to my question.

Jenny: Thanks for the information. I did not know of that law. :)

.

The fact that i answered it does not mean I didn't view it as snarky... The way you asked it with the words *new* Jewish law, used the way they were was snarky, and I think most people viewed it that way, not just me.

It really is quite hard to show clearness on the internet, when you lack the facial emotions...;)

I didn't mean anything snarky by it. I seriously meant, "Is that new? I've never heard of it...perhaps our family didn't talk about it."

I got it.

Everyone I know got it.

Maybe it comes from them knowing me, but I seriously meant nothing by it. It was just a question.

It comes from my viewpoint that religions evolve, and that there are many times I've seen 'new' law in 'old' religion.

Ok, No worries

I apologize if it was taken as snarky. :) To everyone.

And, to be quite honest, I'm surprised to see this debate still going. I've been reading back the past few pages, and am thorougly enjoying the well explained viewpoints on both sides. :)

I'm just wondering, do people in your family discuss Jewish Law a lot. I mean are you an expert on Kashrut or Sabath observance, or is it just abortion?

No, but it was one of the Faiths I researched in finding 'myself'. I can't say I'm knowledgeable on it, or abortion, or religion, but, based on what I have researched, I've never heard of what Jenny said, hence the questioning.

Btw...whomever said I was an expert at anything??

You´re surprised it´s still going? You´ve certainly helped...

More so, helped with the straying off topic...;)

I haven't been online since yesterday. I actually went and studied! Anywho, it went up, what, twenty pages since I was last here twenty four hours. That did surprise me.

[/I]??
I thought a lot of your family was Jewish?

Yeah, the half I see every three years.

So every three years of so when you would see these Jewish family members you would get into heavy discussions about Jewish law?
