Privacy on Verandah's?

Just curious....

How dark are the verandahs at night?? I mean, if we had the lights out in our cabin and it was pitch black out, is there any ambient light that would be shining onto our verandah? Just wondering, we might want to have a quiet drink out there by light of the moon... nothing else

I'm also from the SW suburbs. Grew up in Oak Lawn. I'm now in the city but still on the south side.

Pitch Black if you and your neibors leave the verandah lights off. The partitions are only semi-opaque, so when your neibor turns on their verandah light, it lights up your verandah to some degree as well.

You know, you can make a verandah tent with the table, chairs, and spare blanket. Just for playing camp-out, of course, not for any other purpose.

How come you didn't post that on your site, pal?!

Our veranda in cabin 5150 is deeper than most and all the way aft on Deck 5. You could look to right to the next veranda, but there was just empty space to the left. At that curve of the ship you could not see the length of the ship...only the veranda to the right.

All in all we still like the location and extra space on the veranda.

In the next pic you can see the partition between the verandahs....I took this pic from our veranda of my BIL's verandah.

This shot is of the veranda to the left of us....not a passenger room but a crew area of some sort. There was actually just one chair and some garbage on the deck and I never saw anyone out there ever. It is only accessible by a crew door.....what a waste of a verandah!!!

I can't see any of these - it says that the page has been moved or no longer exists.

You know guys, I hate to break it to you, but I'm sure there is a "requested dress code" for the verandas.......:p

Just an FYI to help with the original question (not that I'm trying to get away from the whole Verandah Club topic :o )
Every 4th cabin has a solid wall and a partition. So for example it would be something like this:

SOLID---partition------partition-----partition------solid

So cabin 1 is solid/partition
cabin 2 is partition/partition
cabin 3 is partition/partition
cabin 4 is partition/solid

I hope that helps with the explanation.

Oh, and the verandahs are quite dark at night and taking out a blanket at night to lie down on is a great way to see the stars ::yes::

Rae,
It's not on my website because the site is called the Platinum Castaway Club, NOT the Platinum Verandah Club ;)
Just remember, my favorite stateroom is 5650, the mirror twin of 5150 with that same deep verandah.
Outahere,
hope, nothing that exciting on my CD. I list it on eBay, and I didn't want to have to put it in the adult category :jester:
