Privacy in LR on Couch in 2 Bedroom Villa

Does anyone have any idea that has been successful for you in the past for providing a little privacy for a couple staying on the pull out couch in the LR of a 2 bedroom villa?

I've looked at those portable room dividers, and have even considered sending an Ikea clothing rack to hang a piece of cloth from - with shipping it would cost under $20. I'm just not sure what to do with it when we are done (take it apart and spend $10 to ship it home?)

In case it matters, the people sleeping in the living room will be my husband and myself. There will be two other young adult couples in each of the other rooms.

There isn't really any privacy. Even a room divider only provides a visual barrier, not a barrier to noise. Nowhere private to dress apart from bathroom. It's not a scenario I'd want to be part of. Any chance of a studio?

Which resort will you be staying at? I only ask because depending on where you are staying will determine the layout of the living room. If you are staying at a place like SSR you could easily put a pole up with a curtain. If you are at OKW with a more open floor plan that may be difficult.

We will be at Kidani. We will be there for 6 nights, and will only need to sleep in the living room for three of them. The other couple will join us later, and we will have Mousekeeping in to change the bedding. (We also added a night at Jambo at the beginning of our trip, and will have our own room for that night.) We are doing it this way for a number of reasons, but with all the other expenses cant swing another room.

I'd change Jambo to a value resort and book my own room at the end for those three nights, also in a value. I couldn't do the pull out couch in the living room thing. I'd stay value first to keep costs down but maintain privacy.

Kidani has a big living room. Open floor plan. Both bedrooms are directly off the living room.

There is not a whole lot you can do to give a lot of privacy but the good news about being at Kidani is that the extra bathroom in the main living space means that the couples in the other two bedrooms can just close their bedroom doors when they go to bed because you won't need access to their bathrooms at all. I've slept in the living room of a two bedroom at the Boardwalk and at Kidani and I preferred Kidani because of the extra bathroom. It definitely made me feel like I had a little bit more of my own space. But ultimately I was at the mercy of when everyone else woke up and waltzed into the main living/kitchen area.

The living room at Kidani is pretty open with both the bedroom doors going into the living room. You do have your own bathroom in the area, and each couple in the bedrooms have their own bathroom. If it is a lockoff, the 2nd bedroom will have a kitchenette so they will not need to access the kitchen at night. Each bedroom has their own bathroom and shower so unless the couple in the master bedroom needs to get into the kitchen, you should just be able to close both the bedroom doors and have privacy that way. All three couples will have a bathroom and access to the patio. Good luck! It is not the most ideal situation but it is doable

There's no privacy. While DH and I haven't stayed on the couch (we are the DVC owners and just aren't *that* nice to let our guests get all the beds), my cousin and her husband have. I assume, since they are sleeping in the living room and kitchen area, that they aren't doing anything for which they need privacy. My gosh I hope they are respecting us (and their kids and mom) by controlling themselves...

There really is no way to make the living room totally private. You kind of have to accept that, when you are sleeping on the fold out. But I love the idea of the cardboard screen.

There really is no privacy. I have frequently stayed in a 1 BR at BCV with adult DS. He sleeps on the couch. That situation is worse, as we share a bathroom, but it is not easy. I am the early riser, but I was never comfortable making coffee etc, until I heard him moving about. So even for the couple with the bedroom, it has limitations, so much so that this year we are "splurging" on a 2 BR for just the 3 of us. The need for some privacy and some personal space won. And it is a HUGE Splurge in points.

That is me too, the early riser. So when we stayed at a 2 bedroom (with my nephew on the couch) at the Beach Club, I threw on my clothes and went to Epcot.

Sleeping in the living room is not ideal for us, but taking into account most of our needs, it is the way for us to go. (We rented points at Kidani, and can't change this reservation.) Most of the nights we will have a bedroom for privacy, but we are really happy with that extra bathroom at Kidani.

It'll be fine...We stayed at Kidani... Didn't need to use the pull out, but we did have five adults and one teenager in a two bedroom and it worked great! That third bathroom is a life saver and made it work really well. Three nights isn't too long...You may need a egg shell mattress cover for the pull out. It wasn't the worst pull out I've seen, but two adults on it may be a bit uncomfortable. Also remember, there is a pull out chair, and I pulled that out just to see and it was pretty comfy.

If it is a dedicated two bedroom, both bedrooms have access to the living room from the balcony. Plus the dining table is right across from the end of the sleeper sofa. I'd just give up the privacy for three nights or book another studio for those three nights (and give it to the couple that you are giving up the bedroom for). My point, my master bedroom.

I agree with the pp who said with three bathrooms, there really shouldn't be privacy issues if the bedroom doors are closed. Just have a quick discussion with everyone so you're all on the same page as far as wake up times and expectations. Personally, I don't travel with anyone that I would have privacy issues with anyway. They are either family or very close friends that I wouldn't mind hanging out in my PJ's with (my travel PJ's are more discreet than home PJ's anyway in case there is a hotel evacuation in the middle of the night - I don't want to be that person wrapped in a sheet on the TV news, lol!)

I agree with the pp who said with three bathrooms, there really shouldn't be privacy issues if the bedroom doors are closed. Yeah, lock the door and close the drapes .. there must be drapes. When we last cruised with others, we got balconies and they opened them up so we could all walk through to each cabin. At night we locked our doors and closed the drapes, others knew we were still asleep.

OP just wants a little blocking of the view of their space and I think they can do that.

Yes, the patio door locks and the drapes close. If you are in a Savannah view room at Kidani there are surveillance cameras on the rooms, so those drapes can prove to be important
