I am ready to start having some finished products!!
I need to buy magnetic paper for our door design and have not found it in my area--checking Michaels today, and if it isn't there I'm going to place an order with printonit. While on their site this morning I checked out their transfers.
I am making 6 designs for hubby and I (2-1/2 sheet, 5-1/4 sheets) and then I am making a total of 8 shirts for Chef Mickeys with 2 small (3x5 ish) designs on each shirt. Total of 22 designs. I hope to only use about 10 sheets. I add that because I believe printonit is the way to go if you are going to need quantity packs of transfer paper.
Our local WalMart carries Avery transfers for slightly more than printonit's but with shipping it's probably a wash. I believe I have read all the threads in this section and saw good things about Avery lights and HP darks. I think I'll be using some light and some dark because I want my designs to look very integrated with the shirts and am afraid white areas left by the dark transfers will detract from that. Am open to suggestion though.
I don't only want my designs to look nice for one day. I am trying not to date designs so that we can wear them over and over. The only t-shirt I made in the past was for a huge group midnight showing of Star Wars. That was obviously several years ago, but I still wear my t-shirt although the design has definitely faded some.
So suggestions for making sure I have nice, vibrant designs that will last for a while? I am going to use the wash suggestions, and scotchguard one. I didn't do that or vinegar wash with my other ink jet transfer T , but I do wash it inside out and dry normally (maybe that is why it faded some?) I think the design is still easy to make out even though it was a bit detailed.
