Does anyone use a home printer for photos and what is it? Thanks.
I am going to post this on the family board too.

I have a 6 year HP photo printer that I use for bigger prints and the occational 4x6. They do come out really nice, but due to cost, I do most of my pics online.

I inherited an HP Photosmart 8050 printer that I use for all of my pictures. I like the convenience of having the photos when I want them.

I have two HP printers that I use for photos. One is a small portable one that is about 3 years old. It prints both 4x6 and 5x7 and the other is a multifunction HP Photosmart C7200 that is about a year old.

I need the instant gratification of being able to print at home:rolleyes:

My printer is an HP Photosmart Pro B8350. It is made especially for printing photos or in my case artwork.

It does a beautiful job.

Thank you that is very helpful! Do you find they are the same as from a photo lab?

I guess it depends on the photo labs. If you go Wal-Mart or a store like that the printer is made to print your photo at a fast rate. If you are printing at home, first your printer should be for photos and second these printer print slower. The slower the print, the better quality the picture. Now granted Wal-Mart and such print fast but their machines are photo printers and made to print just that. Of course printing at Wal-Mart and such, they may not let you print just anything. Sometimes the person watching the machine will question if what you are printing is legal. A photo printer is expensive but you can have better control and will pay for itself over time. Wal-Mart charges something like $5.00 to $7.00 per page.

Another point as well. Make sure your ink is for photos. My printer can take up to two types of black ink. I always buy the one for photo printing. That helps make the pictures look good.

I hope I answered your question. I was not sure by what you meant by photo labs.

for lots of pictures i email them to walgreens and then pick them up in an hour - for pictures for my 365 project - i got myself a cannon selphy little printer and i am loving it - it only prints 4X6 but it is so cute and works great for printing one picture everyday-
i got mine at walmart and they have refill kits witht he ink and paper for $25.00 for 150 pictures
hope this helps

Oh that is so cute! Thanks. Do you find the selphy prints the same as the processors at the stores?

Thanks Jennifer. My kids have a "Dell" photo printer that scans etc. I guess it depends on the paper used for results.

If people are doing digital sb'ing they must print out their pages too.

Hi There! I use an Epson photo printer. It can do up to 8x10 prints. I LOVE IT! I am a very picky photo person.

The quality is just as good (and in some cases better) than a lot of the online places that I use. (I tested it once by placing an order at each site with the same photo so I could judge the photo quality myself).

Even when I factor in the BEST price I can get online, it still ends up being around 18 cents a print online when you add shipping....so, for only 20 cents on my machine (which is around what it costs per 4x6 print) I figure I'm getting the best deal since I'm getting them immediately.

It also allows me to print photos in whatever sizes I want including wallets without having to do a lot of photo editing like I do when I upload photos. It is definitely cheaper to print large photos at home than ordering them online.

Finally, thank you to everyone else for posting your comments. I was considering a portable epson 4x6 to take to WDW with us, so I'm happy to see the feedback about those machines. THANKS!

I just bought a HP 4450 Photosmart printer today at Costco for $50 (yeah the cartridges cost a lot) but I am glad I will have them on hand. Living in a rural area I cannot run to the store for photos.

It is returnable so I will try it after I clean up my office/craft area!
