I'm thinking a lot about getting into digital scrapping being everyone seems to love it. My question is: What is a good wide format printer? I'm looking at Epson 1800, or is Canon better? For those of you who do digital scrapping & print @ home what is your experience? I know a lot of you send your's off to be printed but I don't believe that that will be the way I'll go if I get into this. Timon, I know that you have printed at home before you started to send it off to be printed by a company. What printer did you use? I would appreciate any suggestions on this. :thumbsup2

I'm actually planning to get the R1800 as soon as I get the money. I've heard good things about it; many digiscrappers are using it. My last two printers have been Canons, and they really haven't held up well. Although, I think this last printer's problem (and maybe the one before it, even!) is the fact that my son was jamming stuff into it. I've got to figure out how to keep the next printer out of his reach!

I can't really compare sending my printing out to printing a layout at home since I haven't printed a LO at home. I have, however, printed out photos on my older Canon with Epson Premium Lustre Paper, and the quality was lovely. I still would give the edge to a professional printer, but it was darn better than anything else I'd printed at home up to that point.

Right now, I get my layouts printed at Mpix. The price is a bit high, but the quality is stunning. Now that I've begun calibrating my monitor, the colors are dead-on.

I have seen the HP wide formats print great pictures, I would love one but can't financially and don't have the room for another printer.
