Princesses don't hit, kick or spit! A May/June TR Update 10/17 Snow White Theme Night

Our 5th park day took us to DHS again. This is where my trip notes took a dive so I'm going alot by the order of my pictures. My first priority of the morning was supposed to be to sign up Sam up for Jedi Training, but I am a bad mom and forgot :scared1: Thankfully he forgot too and never even mentioned it later when he went over there to ride Star Tours :rolleyes1 We got to the park a little after rope drop and after stopping for a PP person headed straight away over to TSM, partnered up with DH this time and this time I won :cool1: We came out and it was super hot so we got some slushees to cool us down. This is where the majority of our snacks credits went, towards frozen treats! I had taken a bunch of pictures over in Pixar Place but was running out of space on my camera so decided to deleted some pictures since I had been uploading them to my laptop every night. Well the dummy I am erased the whole memory card but thankfully we still had the photopass pics.

By this point Christian was so over getting his picture taken, can you tell :lmao:

We next made our way over to The Voyage of The Little Mermaid, the next show was just about to start so I think we waited maybe 5 minutes. Since The Little Mermaid is my favorite movie I love this show, it's short but sweet and DD and I love to sing along:love:

After the show we went over to the Disney Animation building so DN could do the drawing class. There were only a few people waiting so we took our seats and waited probably 15 minutes or so. Everyone wanted to do the class but I was a little apprehensive about Sam because I know what a perfectionist he is. He's OCD and while he enjoys doing art projects he tends to melt down if he feels it isn't perfect. But since Sam said he wanted to do the class we went. They choose for the class to do Woody, which I thought would be fun, he's one of Ben's favorites. By the second instruction it went downhill, Sam went to erase a mistake he thought he made and freaked when he saw there was no eraser. I tried to tell him just to keep going, I showed him my picture so far which was by no means great but he didn't care. He balled the paper up and declared that he was done, so I exited the class as quietly as possible and took him to go play with the stuff outside. The rest of the family really enjoyed the class and their drawings weren't half bad either!

We were all hungry at this point and we had early dinner ADRs so our next stop was for lunch. Can't go to DHS without a visit to Pizza Planet, I probably could but the kids won't let us! Got to the the restaurant and as usual I grabbed seats with the kids while DH went and got our food. The place was packed but we lucked out wth a table upstairs. Not too hard to figure out what we got here, pepperoni pizza for DN, DSs and I, kids cheese pizza for DD, MIL got a salad and DH surprised me by getting a meatball sandwich which he said was ok. The pizza was good, I noticed that if you order the kids pizza with pepperoni they give you an adult size, which since my boys love pizza they were easily able to finish. Sam wanted to play some games so Christian took him downstairs for a bit while the rest of us finished up our food.

Next we headed over to see the Muppets. Once again Ben wanted to opt out of this one, even though he has seen it several times in the past for whatever reason he didn't want to do it so the rest went in while he and I went on a hunt for some Cars.

We went over to where McQueen and Mater usually are and were bummed to see that they were still off filming Cars 2 (that's what a CM told Ben). But we did see the line for a couple of newbies who were coming out in a few minutes, I asked about the wait and was told it would be about a hour! Sorry love ya Phineas and Ferb but I'll settle for a couple of pics taken when you just came out! I got Ben a set of cars from the new movie and we waited for the rest to come out of Muppets.

Next up a couple of shows and at last I get to see the parade!

Those are absolutely the best pictures I've seen. Where are Phineas and Ferb??? and anything Cars 2? My boys play "Finn McMissile" all the time.:rotfl2::rotfl2:

Darn thing would not let me respond to your message. Said something about too many pictures....grrrr. but its all good

Love the PP pics! :thumbsup2 I'm glad you enjoyed VoTLM - can't wait to see it myself!

Love the Woody drawings.

Lol at McQueen and Mater being at filming for Cars 2!

Thanks, I was surprised how well everyones drawings came out! The CMs are always so creative with their answers regarding the characters;)

Phineas and Ferb are over near the Muppets area, as well as Mater and McQueen who I'm pretty sur are back from filming the movie :thumbsup2 Ben is a HUGE Cars fan and was bummed about now getting to see them this year.

When the rest of the group got out of Muppets we decided to split up, MIL and DN wanted to see American Idol so Ben and I went with them and DH, Christian, Sam and Emily went to see Indiana Jones. That's one thing that bugs me about DHS, the shows times always seem to run at the same time so if you really want to see all of the shows you almost have to do 2 days here.

We were a bit early for the show, but since we were sitting in the handicapped section they brought us in a little early, which was a godsend because it was REALLY hot and that AC was heavenly. The show was cute, DN and I got a kick out of the judge that is supposed to be like Randy. The contestants were pretty good and the guy we voted for one. My MIL had DN and I cracking up because she just would not sit down, she stood up and danced the whole time. My DN named MIL's dance as the sweeper because she moves her arms like she is sweeping the floors:rotfl2: She was hysterical, I took a video of her dancing but she would kill me if she knew I put it on here, DH put it on his FB page though :lmao: I know it sounds mean of us but my MIL has a good sense of humor and was laughing along.

So one thing that crossed my mind about the Amecian Idol Experience was if the winner of the latest AI would show up that week since the finale had just aired. Would you believe that Scotty was there the very next day? When I heard that I was so bummed, Scotty was my favorite from the beginning and I must have voted for that kid 100 times! I would have loved to have seen him :guilty:

Ater the show we made our way over to Indiana Jones, the show was just about to let out so we waited for them for a few minutes. When they came out we we into the shop there, I got Sam a map and Emily some Mickey animal print hair clips and my MIL bought Emily a couple of cute things for her birthday. Sam wanted to get a whip like Indianas but I had visions of him whipping his sister when she got on his nerves so I had to say no to that one :rotfl:

The next stop was over to ride Star Tours again, Ben of course didn't want to ride so I decided to sit out this time so my MIL could ride. I noticed that everyone was lining up for the parade on the curbs so when a family got up from a bench I quickly sat down and staked a spot out. Of course this bench was in the direct sun so I was constantly spraying Ben with the misters to cool him down and thankfully we had the coolers with lots of water. I was hoping the rest of the gang would get back in time for the parade but their wait was a bit long for Star Tours so unfortunately they didn't make it in time, they were able to see some of the parade but Ben and I had the best view. I have never seen a parade at DHS before, I always try to take advantage of low wait times on rides while it's going on so I was happy that we got to see it. And we had absolutely a great spot, so many characters came up to Ben and hugged or shook his hand, but it went so fast that I didn't always have my camera ready! So waiting on that hot bench definately paid off for us, I just wish the rest of the family had been there.

Alright, still with me? I know thats a ton of pictures from the parade but I was just really impressed with it so I wanted to share! DH and the gang found me pretty quickly, they had a blast on Star Tours, this time around they said it was much better than the other day. Next up it was almost time for our dinner ADRs so we made our way over towards 50's Prime Time Cafe. We were early as usual so we did a little shopping to escape the heat and kill some time.

Up next, our dinner at 50's Prime Time, would we regret trying it again after our disasterous meal there last time?

I love all of the pictures that you share with us! It makes me feel like we were right there with your family! :thumbsup2

It poured buckets of rain on our DHS day, so we are hoping to see the parade this year. It looks adorable!

I hope your meal was good...we are going there this trip as well. :surfweb:

I love the story of Your MIL dancing at American Idol, how awesome that she was having so much fun.

Great pics of the parade, do the floats spray water like it does at Disneyland?

WOW that parade at DHS looks really cool, I love all the different characters I have never seen before and wouldnt get the chance to normally see :goodvibes thats awesome!!

Awesome update, I love the HS parades! I've not seen much of Mr. Fredricksen from UP as a face character, but he looks really good! Some characters just don't translate to costumes very well, lol!

Those DTD pictures look great! I can't wait to get there! I am pretty sure that I could walk around for hours too!
OH MY.... 1 hour for Phineas and Ferb??? My son loves them, but I'm not ure it's 1 hours worth! I love the drawings though!
Very nice parade photos!

Can't see the pics. But the day sounds fun! Too bad you missed Scotty! :lovestruc

Oh I love the Pixar Parade pics!! :goodvibes We missed it on our trip! :sad2:

Thanks, I'm so glad I finally was able to see it, after all of the times we've been there and missed it.

Thanks, funny you should say that about rain because it always seems to rain on our DHS days but somehow we lucked out this year! Hope you enjoy 50's, we've had both good and bad experiences there.

I love the story of Your MIL dancing at American Idol, how awesome that she was having so much fun.

My MIL was hilarious, she goes to the American Idol concert every year with her friends and she says they all get up and dance, can you imagine a group of 60/70 years olds? LOL

The parade floats didn't spray water, which we would hae loved in that heat!

WOW that parade at DHS looks really cool, I love all the different characters I have never seen before and wouldnt get the chance to normally see :goodvibes thats awesome!!

I know I was happy to see Lotso because I was bummed about him being replaced by Pooh. Also I loved Bulllseye, he came up and gave Ben a high five!

We saw the Up characters on our last trip and thought they were great! I agree there are a few characters that don't translate at all, lol.

Very nice parade photos!

DTD is fun, I hope you some time spend down there.

Thankfully my boys are HUGE fans of Phineas and Ferb so they weren't too bummed about not getting their autographs. An hour in line to see characters is just too much.

Can't see the pics. But the day sounds fun! Too bad you missed Scotty! :lovestruc

The pictures are working again! I was really bummed about Scotty, my ODS's best friend looks and talks exactly like Scotty. It got to a point where we would call Scotty Billy, lol. He said that kids at school and strangers in stores would come up to him and tell him he looked like Scotty and even his own mom and family would say it. Unfortunately though he can't sing like Scotty:rotfl:

Sooo bummed that Ben did not get to see Lightning...

Gonna add the Animation to our touring plans...looks like something Ab and Boo would like to do...glad I read about it here or we would have skipped it!

I think your kids are at a great age for it, I wish we had done it earlier on trips because Christian seemed to really enjoy it!

So we were killing time waiting for our ADR time for 50's Primetime. Originally we had 5:30 ADRs but there was a second when my BIL and SIL thought they may join us for a few days and DH had me change our ADR to 10people and the only time I could get was 3:45. After we knew BIL and SIL weren't coming I tried to switch the time but couldn't get anything later. 3:45 is crazy early to eat but we figured we'd get snacks later in the day when we got hungry.

So we check in and had to wait maybe 10 - 15 minutes, I was busy doing potty duty with the kids so DH took a few pics in the waiting area.

Love how the waiting area looks like you stepped back in time to someones living room.

And I totally want this sign.

We got sat and our "cousin" came to the family fairly quickly, slapped the silverwear down on the table and told the kids to set the table and walked away. YES:banana: we had gotten we we came for, a server who was going to play along with us. The first time we came here we had a awesome server who was really into the part and we had a blast, on our last visit here we had the crabbiest of guys and he didn't have any fun with us, he was slow to get us everything, including the bill at the end which he completely screwed up. I almost didn't do an ADR here but we all really like the food so we figured we'd give it another try. Well it paid off, I can't remember our "cousins" name but he totally looked like a young Lawrence Fishbourne! He came back and got our drink orders, I ordered a peanut butter and jelly shake for Ben and I to share, FN and ODS got the chocolate shakes, the kids got the punch with the light up things in them and MIL and DH got margaritas. The shakes here are to die for, and it counts as a drink on the dining plan or you can count it as a dessert. I also ordered a soda to drink, which he kept forgetting to bring out, I never said anything but everytime he would walk by he would say "shoot I keep forgetting your drink". He finally brought me out this. :rotfl2:

135-3.jpg

For an appetizer we got 2 orders of onion rings, these are really good here and even my kids who supposedly hate onions, tear them up, hence the need for 2 orders. For diner I got the meatloaf (yum, yum, yum), DH, ODS, DN and MIL all got the fried chicken, DD got the mac and cheese and the boys got the meatloaf. The food was great as usual, I made sure to eat all of my veggies, Christian was creative on his plate and hide most of his but MIL was full and did not eat alot of hers. Well our cousin came by and told her she had to eat her veggies if she wanted any dessert, she said no she was full, he asked her to take just one bite, which she refused saying she was too full and didn't want anything else to eat. I don't know why she wouldn't just play along and take one bite but no..... she also refused to take her hat off when our cousin told her no hats at the table, which even my DN did , hat hair and all. Anyway when dessert came out, MIL's was missing. :rotfl: And she got annoyed, probably because the rest of us were all laughing at her, telling her that's what she gets for not eating all of her food. She wouldn't say anything to our server but just sat there with her arms crossed. The rest of us ate our desserts, DH and ODS got the Smore's, DN and I had Dad's Brownie Sundae and the kids got sundaes as well. My MIL kept saying how ridiculous it was that our server withheld her dessert, I told her to say something, maybe he forgot it but she refused. Well when the server came out with the check, he apologized profusely to my MIL, someone was supposed to follow him out with her dessert when he brought the rest of ours and he didn't realize she never got it. Which of course then made my MIl feel better, thank goodness because I didn't want to deal with a grumpy MIL for the rest of the day.;)

Next up, we split up again and are the kids going to make it to Fantasmic?

Aww yay for a server who likes to play along :goodvibes The first time I went we had the most amazing server ever, we still talk about it to this day, but last year was no fun. I even tried to get the lady to play along, but she just seemed too busy :confused3 I am glad to hear you guys had a good time!!

Oh I am so glad you had a fun server!!! I am hoping for a fun server! My husband wasn't really a fan when we ate here on our honeymoon, but I think my oldest daughter will love the antics! :thumbsup2

50's Prime Time looks fun! Great pics! I can't wait to eat there, gluten-free fried chicken!!!!

It seems to be a hit or a miss with most people, and unfortunately it all depends on the kind of server you get. I would totally ask for this server again, he was great!

The kids love it here, I'm sure yours will too. One our first visit here my oldeest didn't eat all of his veggies and our server literally spoon fed him a huge bite before she would give him his dessert, it was hilarious!
