We are planning our trip and were told that the only availability for our Princess character meal was a Friday 5:30 dinner at the Castle. My wife read that we won't see any princesses at the dinners. Princesses only show up at the breakfast and lunches.

Is this true?

My daughter HAS to see the princesses and I don't want to disappoint her by taking her to the castle and not see Cinderella.

Any suggestions?

Dinner is not a character meal. You do see, and get your picture taken with Cinderella in the lobby before your meal, but that's it. There is also a little "show" with the Fairy Godmother and the mice, but it's not a meet and greet thing like lunch and dinner.

If you want to see the princesses, but can't get a lunch or breakfast ADR I recommend breakfast at Akershus in Epcot.

we did the Akershus in EPCOT this last September for dinner and i didn't just love the food. are the breakfasts pretty good there?

I didn't like the food at dinner either. The breakfast food was pretty average, good and filling, but nothing special, but the potatoes were amazing, and worth a return trip just for them, not to mention that I think the character interaction is great there.

We took my niece (4) to dinner at the castle back in September. She did love meeting Cinderella in the lobby and the pics are beautiful, but she had way more fun at Akershus in Epcot. We had dinner there and she got to spend quality picture time with Ariel before we went in and there was tons of princess action during dinner. Cinderella, Belle, Snow White, Aurora and Alice, I believe. Personally, I liked the food at Akershus better, too. The castle food was boring...

How old is your daughter? If she's little, the castle experience might be lost on her, anyway?

Have fun whatever you decide!!!! :tinker:

you can always try for a cancellation at breakfast or lunch time. Df and I went to breakfast in dec at the castle and we met cinderella down stairs and had our pic taken with her(she dosen't come visit upstairs) Upstairs during breakfast we met Belle, Aurora, and Alice in Wonderland. Otherwise there is always the princess breakfast at Epcot which I've never been to but only heard good things about. hth:goodvibes

Another option for meeting Cinderella is dinner at 1900 Park Fare, which I highly recommend. You get to meet Cinderella, Prince Charming, Lady Tremaine, and both step-sisters. Plus, the food was excellent (buffet style). It is at the Grand Floridian, and very elegant, with lots of little girls dressed up in princess regalia. Just double-check who will be there - they only started that group relatively recently, and while it has been pretty popular, you never know if they will decide to change it.

I was at 1900 park faire at the end of dec and prince charming wasn't there. Just the two step sisters, step mother, cinderella and one of her mice suzzy. So I'd find out who would be there as not to get her hopes up of meeting the prince. I was semi disappointed by this and i'm 24:rotfl2: Other than that 1900 park faire is a wonderful place to meet cinderella and the characters were pretty interactive and fun!

Akershus in Norway (Epcot) has an "Amercanized" breakfast and the princesses.

1900 Park Fare in the Grand Floridian has Cinderella....Lady Tremaine and the two step sisters.....sometimes Prince Charming is there....the CM will not tell you either way when you make your ADRs.....if Prince charming is not present then most likely Suzy the mouse will be there.

But if you have your heart set on the Castle in MK...keep calling back EVERYDAY to see if someone has canceled.

Also consider the "My Disney Girls Perfectly Princess Tea Party" at the GF.
the only problem is Aurora is only there for about 20 minutes....most of the time Rose Petal is the hostess.

Good Luck....I hope you get a good ADR for DDprincess:

well after reading these boards I also realized that our dinner 5:30pm reservations do not include character interaction. I was po'd and figured I would call disney. Well I told them that when we made our dinner reservations (which were changed from lunch due to me having to change our entire trip!), and that we were not told that dinner did not have character interaction. I told them I don't want to be the one to tell my 6 year old daughter that that she won't have lunch with the princesses. Of course there were not times available for breakfast or lunch (and we have breaky at cp that same morning) so I asked what she could do and she was nice enough to put me through to guest relations to see what they could do. WELL, I was very impressed with the girl I spoke to, explained everything to her, and she offered us 1:00pm lunch reservations for the Fairy Tale Lunch, so my daughter will be ecstatic!!!!!

We were there in September and my 8 and 9 year old were greeted by Cinderella in the lobby and were named Honorary Princesses of the Day. They led the guest to the restaurant and everyone was seated. We were able to get a window view that overlooked Fantasyland. The God mother and mice did walk around signed autographs and took pics with everyone. I am glad my girls were able to experience the whole "eating in the castle" thing.
