Princess Weekend 2022

Got my cousin and me in for the Challenge!

We were going to do the 5K but as I got "lined up" again for it she texted that it was OK if we didn't get it, so we had a convo and decided we could let that one go. Actually pretty happy about that decision. I'm a west coaster, and sleeping is good. :)

That said, I'm looking forward to yoga registration.

...I found it strange that they expected people to pay $95+ for an event with minimal details...

Felt like old school rundisney to me, with no info at all. :)

I feel like I usually have pretty bad luck on these things but it gave me 8 minutes, which turned out to be actually around 5. I was set to do the Star Wars weekend challenge (my first challenge ever, third half-marathon) in the before times, and I'm a little nervous about doing the Princess one just because my training during the pandemic hasn't been very consistent, but I'm going for it!

The "experienced runner" official challenge training plan (Galloway's plan on the rundisney page) is only 18 weeks, which means it starts in October. Personally I'm starting fresh b/c I haven't moved from my couch since mid March of last year, so I melded the beginner 10K and then the experienced challenge plan together and started it last week. But if you've been training more than me (which was NONE), you could start later and probably be OK.

Can someone remind me how I link my race registration to my plans on MDE?

I'm not sure we can.

Sadly, I’m probably not registering today - I just can’t bring myself to pay $400 for 4 of us to run a 5k, given that we still have some uncertainty in our travel plans. 😭

Nothing like paying $400 to solidify travel plans, is what I always say.

Someone remind me how to share link. I tried for marathon weekend and it didn't work. I have a 4 min link if anyone needs one!

I'm so itching to do the same!! Someone convince me that 3 rD races in 3 days isn't worth it 😭 My husband won't be happy if I leave him home alone with the kids for 4 whole days...

ETA: wanted to quote your post on signing up for the 5k, oops 😂

Like others, and I suspect a lot of them given that all races are still available, I am not registering for Princess 2022 :guilty:

The dates were falling perfectly with the last Springbreak my DDs have together, I have resorts reservations and followed reimbursable flights costs all Summer but am canceling everything because of;
1) The current state of pandemic in Florida and the borders uncertainties.
2) In that context, the rest of the family would rather focus on Winter sports.
3) DD now prefers to run her first half locally.

So, Princess 2023? Dopey 2026 (when DD is 18)? Solo trip another time? I do not know but I will keep reading!

I was looking forward to registering for yoga this morning so I felt like I had some low-stakes participation in the registration hunger games 😅 while waiting patiently on my charity registration link.

Looks like they're still nailing down details for that (nothing like waiting to the last minute to share that nugget). I hope it doesn't get scrapped entirely!

Question - for the products you can buy, do they eventually update that page with pics of the items?
It is unclear what they will do about the merch. For the 2020 Princess weekend, you could see thumbnails of the products. I still have the email confirmations from the merch I bought that year, and there were pictures in the email confirmations, too. I think that is the first/only time they have shown in advance what the merchandise looks like.
I second this. I remember seeing images posted on the preorder page for merch in the past, but there's no way to know if they'll continue that.

I am really stunned that all races are still available for registration. I expected the 10k to sell out by now. I'm not sure what this tells us about demand/number of bibs available for the 2022 event.

I started looking at the preorder page, and noticed there's a bundle that includes a Corkcicle Canteen. It's in the Weekend Bundle (edit to add: it's also in the Commemorative Bundle), and the description says:

Corkcicle Canteen
  • Folding metal handle with a wide mouth for ice cubes
  • Drink-thru straw cap
  • Triple insulated
  • Size: 20 oz.

I know Corkcicle is the new sponsor, and they already started selling them at Food & Wine, but I just had a realization. Is Corkcicle replacing Tervis?

I'm not a Tervis collector by any means, and I've never owned a Corkcicle product, but I never thought about the idea until now. Corkcicle looks like a quality product, so I guess their partnership with Disney will get me to try one sooner or later!

I'm registered for the 5k along with my sister and friend. Never done a Disney Run. We'll walk most of it but I know we have to keep the pace. My friend is in a wheelchair. Is this 5K like any others I've walked where everyone is bunched up at the start but then it opens up as people start moving? My friend gets anxious, understandably so, when she cant see!

I say go for it! A few years ago I went to WDW on a 2 week solo trip and did the 5k, the 10k and the princess half and the following weekend I did the Best Damn Half marathon on Saturday and then the Swamp House Half marathon the next day on Sunday. So 48.6 miles in 8 days not including all the walking thru the parks. Had a blast and did a couple spa days onsite too. I say go for it!
