Princess Phoebe's Pre-WISH-Trip Report (arriving in MK 4/17/10)

Totally thought I posted on your movies- obviously I the wine has clouded my memory! :lmao: Then my stupid power went off for like all flippin' day!

Ha! At least the dishes got done and dinner made! :rotfl2::rotfl2:

Love your flick choices- my kids LOVE Star Wars- all 6 of them. WE have to fast forward some parts or send them out, but for the most part they love them.

What about The Little Mermaid and Nemo? Katie loved those.

Phoebe loves the music from TLM, and Tessa used to love it. I think she just got sick of it. I'll have to refresh her memory before we go. Nemo was never a favorite but she's seen most of it and definitely knows the characters.

I don't think you are ever to young for Star Wars:cool1:...of course I don't have children so what do I know:confused3?????
And she is a girly girl, into the princesses and the pink Mets cheerleading outfit I sent her...so I would have never thought she would like Star Wars
I guess you never know.

If I can get her to watch the beginning I'll see if she's ready for more. I think she'll probably like it.

Good job on introducing some great new movies :thumbsup2 I've been the same way. Not really time to do a full movie night but we've watched tons. Made it through our whole list of must see's. I think Tessa will love Monsters Inc. as for Star Wars lets just say Im not a fan, the kids wont really sit and watch the whole movie but the do Love the light sabers and know the characters.

I think she'll like the light sabers too (and she loves dogs so Chewy should be a hit!). :darth::chewy:

Lurker here...but if your daughter is into princesses, she will probably see the original Star Wars as a story about helping rescue a princess, only to have the princess save the day...just saying...

At least that is how my now 9 year old saw it the first time she saw it. She loves Princes Leia. And loves the way she saved Han Solo...

True, I forgot about the Princess aspect. princess:

No worries on the movie nights, Melissa..we ended up the same way..you know what they say about the road to h*ll being paved with good intentions! :lmao: Piper is very much a movie girl, and without cable, she watches movies a LOT! The only thing that bums me out is that I wasn't able to get her out to see The Princess and the Frog. She's gonna see Tiana and be like "Who are you???" LOL. The rest we have covered for the most part. Try not to feel guilty..the new camera is going to pay for itself many times over!

Stephanie will be so disappointed in us. :guilty: I still have many weeks to plan if I get re-inspired. :thumbsup2

It seems like it's a hit for lots of kids, all ages, so I'll probably let DH get them started with her. I liked the movies when I was a kid but sci-fi was never a favorite genre.

Another package arrived today from Jessica (Haganfam5). Oh. My. Gosh. I hate to be such a valley girl here, but that is seriously what I said when the girls opened the envelope. Jessica made the most adorable Minnie Mouse sundress for Tessa.

Phoebe giggles when we open the packages. She loves the packaging as much as Tessa. ;)

Then she decided that this bold fabric was interesting and wanted to check it out.
P1013949.jpg

Tessa decided she wanted to hurry up and try it on before Phoebe got her "slobbers" on it. :lmao: Ah sisters.
P1013953.jpg

The face of an angel and the mind of well, you know.
P1013956.jpg

The chair was her idea.
P1013959.jpg

She wanted to keep it on even after I was done taking the pictures.

Is that just the cutest thing you've ever seen? Phoebe's "nanny" was here and she just kept oohing and aahing over the workmanship. The ruffles are adorable and I'm in love with the bloomers! Tessa discoverd it twirls too, but that was as she was taking it off so I didn't catch that shot. ;)

Thank you so much Jessica! Tessa will look so cute in that outfit on our trip! When she was brushing her teeth before bed I was putting her hair up and I pulled the hair into two pony tails high on her head and asked her if she wanted to have Minnie Mouse ears when she wears that dress. Her eyes got big as she realized it really did look like ears and she said Yeah!!! I think she is getting more excited and realizing that the trip is close. Thank you, thank you! It's gorgeous and we all love Tessa's new Minnie outfit!

Oh, you are SOOOOOO welcome! It looks amazing on Tessa! I am so happy she likes it (and it fits too!). I also LOVE the Minnie Ears idea! She is going to look adorable. I can't wait to see pics. (I am subscribing to your thread now and going back to catch up on it.)

Here is a pic of my daughter wearing the dress before we sent it to you. I had to promise her I'd make her one ;). I know this is not at all about me but this was the first time I ever made anything for anyone else besides my family and our daughters were around the same size.

I think the bloomers look better on Tessa because she is taller than my daughter and you can see them. Again Tessa looks adorable!

You are such a beautiful family and I wish you the best of luck for the future!

Okay, I'm embarrassed to admit this, but my girls love Star Wars (4 and 6 years). Ali (4) will watch while doing other things, but Maya will watch the whole thing from beginning to end. Neither has ever had nightmares, nor have we experienced them inappropriately acting out scenes. They're just not that into it. They also love E.T.popcorn::

Oh! What about the Great Mouse Detective? Or The Rescuers Downunder. That's my favorite one. :) Have you tried any of the Japanese films that Disney brought over here? My favorite one is my neighbor Totoro. It makes no sense but I like it. Or Kiki's Delivery Service. Oh yeah or Ponyo? I don't have kids but I still watch all these movies. I think we are getting ourselves ready you know?

Don't forget Robin Hood! I love that one! DH likes it more however. He is always singing the songs. Or The Jungle Book.

Update on Movie Nights....there is none. J/K :rotfl:

Still need to try:

Monsters Inc. - has seen the characters and seems interested
Pinocchio - she has no idea who this is
Lady and the Tramp - likes the trailers for it before other movies
Pocahontas - tried long ago, but not recently
Star Wars - is 4 yrs too young? She seems interested but I don't want to start too young. DH would probably say you're never too young :lmao:

Melissa,

Elke watched Monsters Inc. for the first time a couple of weeks ago and LOVED it. Which is great, because I seriously need a break from Scooby Doo and Sponge Bob. I think I must have the only three year old who paints pictures of Sponge Bob and Plankton....

She likes Lady and the Tramp in the beginning, but tends to lose interest (has more interest in the sequel re Scamp, their son).

I may take your other list and try some of Phoebe and Tessa's recommendations -- thanks for the ideas!

I just wanted to pop in and say hello! I hope Pheobe and Tessa are doing well. Im having a hard time keeping up:rotfl: But Im getting there lol!!

OH, hey I had anothe idea! What about renting some of those old classic Disney films like Apple Dumpling Gang, No Deposit, No Return, The Shaggy DA, Herbie, those are such great, funny flix!!!

My kids howl every time we get one out!

Melissa, I just realized we will be at our time share in Orlando at the same time you guys will be at GKTW. We should meet up!!:banana::banana:

WoW! I just read like, 20 pages of posts to mostly catch up!!! Whew! I love what the Big Givers sent!!! Its great to watch the girls tear through the packages!! :rotfl: You guys are so gonna have a blast!! I can't wait to hear more!! (Well.... read more... ) :surfweb:

Melissa, I just realized we will be at our time share in Orlando at the same time you guys will be at GKTW. We should meet up!!:banana::banana:

Sarah, that would be great! Will you guys be visiting the parks? We will have to compare our itineraries and see what we can come up with.

She's seen The Rescuers and liked it. Pete's Dragon was okay. She's seen Scamp, but not the original Lady and the Tramp. I played Robin Hood for her this weekend and she seemed to enjoy it.

We went to McDonald's and their new "boy toys" are Star Wars themed. She recognized these and wanted an R2D2. They didn't have any but gave her a choice between Yoda and one of the space ships/fighters. She rejected Yoda.:lmao: She really wanted an R2D2. Tonight I asked if she wanted to watch a movie and she went to the shelf and got Daddy's VHS set of Star Wars (4,5,6) out. So she and Phoebe watched it tonight. Phoebe was unphased, Tessa liked it except for the scary parts where she turned down the volume. At the end she went and got the next video but I told her "tomorrow".

Just stopping to say hi, Melissa!! I was off the boards for a couple days, and am trying to catch up on saying howdy!! Glad you might have a Meet in the works!!

Oh Melissa, we have Annual Passes so my addiction can be fueled on a moments notice!!! :rotfl2:

We will be at our time share Orange Lakes for the entire week. We would love to meet up with you guys when it is most convient for you! Just let me know. I don't do an itenery anymore....there was a small revolt some years back amoungst my tribe :rolleyes1 and they said no more disney comando style......so we always just "wing it", but we also can now go whenever we want which is just about once a month!!

Really looking forward to meeting up with you guys! Hope your pre-trip planning is going well and hoping that everyone stays healthy as you count down the 45 days til the BIG TRIP!!!

I forgot to mention that as we were watching Start Wars last night, Tessa leaned in and gave me a kiss, then declared that she wants to meet R2D2 and give HIM a kiss. I believe this just might be her first crush.

She came straight in to our room in the AM and requested to watch the next installment. Usually, she goes into the kitchen scavenging for hidden treats, but not today! She got the next video tape and put it in (with some instruction from me - she knows the DVR and the DVD player, but not as proficient with VHS). I didn't realize it until later that she chose the last one of the 3, but oh well. She watched it over and over this morning much to my dismay. I do like the occasional Sci-Fi hit (Star Wars, Lord of the Rings, ET, Men in Black) but one viewing is usually plenty for me. Looks like Daddy has a Sci-Fi buddy to watch them with now.

In other news, we just received word that the raise promised months ago has been postponed. It was supposed to take effect before the end of first qtr, but is now being promised in September. When other wives were calling me in January asking why the raise didn't show up yet, I warned them all that it isn't a sure thing until it IS on the paycheck and not to plan for it. People had plans for new cars, vacations, etc. I am disappointed that it didn't come through before our trip, but I am more grateful that DH has a good job, and that we have not had to endure a layoff or cutback as so many others have been through lately. Now if I could just stop procrastinating our taxes....

Tessa's R2D2 crush is adorable :cutie:

Sorry to hear the raise was postponed but you have a great attitude about it! Postponing raises is much better then layoffs! I hope it comes through in September! :goodvibes

Aww Tessa is too sweet!!!!:lovestruc

I am so sorry to hear the raise was postponed. I understand you are both thankful for his job but I am sure that was still hard to hear:hug:

Just catching up! I love Star Wars!

The movie lists look good. I don't think I saw Alice in Wonderland - that is a fave of my DD.

I know I always feel guilty about buying stuff for myself but when it comes to cameras I remind myself that preserving memories is a gift to the whole family.
