Princess Phoebe's Pre-WISH-Trip Report (arriving in MK 4/17/10)

I love the new pictures, and Tessa's hair is adorable! Have you decided what kind of camera you are going to get yet?

Thanks Jen! I don't think I've ever heard a complaint about Canon. I'm glad to hear that the problem your friend had didn't deter him from Canon in general. I'm definitely focusing my search on them. (no pun intended, LOL)

:rotfl: Very clever pun - intended or not! You should come hang out on All7ofUS's PTR - you would definitely fit in.

Love the Tiana oufits, the photos and the hair! :thumbsup2

Yes, yes!! I definitely DO think you should come out and hang out with us on my thread!!

I am only half way through your pre trip!!! Your girls are BEAUTIFUL- i hopped over from Jordan's pretrip, cause I loved your title. Can't wait to read the rest but I actually have to go do work now :confused3

Thanks for the reassurance on the hair-do. My hands recover quickly, it just makes it really hard to keep going when I can't feel what I'm doing anymore. And Tessa can't even sit still while I'm working, I can't take breaks while my hands recover or she'd be GONE!

Yes, I can see the "look" on Phoebe's face as she tries to discern the situation. I think it's great that you're a mom who totally can read every muscle movement and "look" so that you can respond to her best! Good JOB, MOM!!!! :cheer2:

Such fun bouncing pix!! Makes me want to be 4 again. :rolleyes1

It is a cruel joke to see the discrepancy between the energy of my 4yr old and the energy required (but in deficit) to parent my 4 yr old. It didn't take long for me to realize that Phoebe is the "easy" one. :rotfl2:

The girls look so excited for their Tiana outfits!!!!!

I think you did a good job on the Tessa's hair. :thumbsup2 I have to do Juliana's on Wednesdays in a bun, when she goes to dancing. Let's say some times it looks OK and other times..... well.... not so good! LOL

I admire you for doing it at all. My Tim would try if he was alone, but it's usually just a ponytail. I try to show him how but he insists he "can't" do it.

Adorable outfits!! I did notice that about Pheobe's eyes.In one of the pictures on the couch I could really see it. For some reason Ty does something similar with his eyes when he is in pain. I havent quite figured it out just yet.Its like he is looking far away to see what is right in front of him. And like they are heavy.

I love the pics!!

Phoebe used to use her peripheral vision to look at things. I don't know if that vision was better then straight on, or if it was just too much stimulation to look directly at something. She also never made eye contact but is starting to now. Vision is so much more complicated than we would think.

Oh Melissa...the girls looked absolutely adorable!! Love the Tiana outfits!!

You girls are all bad influences....you've got me looking into cameras now too....Notice there aren't any pictues on my PTR lately!! Jake dropped ours and the lens is smashed.

So I am looking at Canon or Nikon too!! Let me know what you decide on!!

Does your hospital have internet access for you to use? Now would be a good time to research. :) I'm hoping to get serious about my search this week.

I was behind, but all caught up now! Very cute Big Give items. Love Tessa's hair-very cute. I have a Nikon D60 package that I got at Costco-came with 2 lenses.

Nikon will be the biggest challenger to Canon I think. I always loved the pics from my 35mm. Thanks for the tip about Costco.

Absolutley adorable pics of the girls in their new outfits. Tell your Tessa my Tessa says she looks really pretty in her new outfit. I coulden't help but laugh at Tessas DVD comment. I do that style in Jennas hair once in awhile. It usually stays for a couple days.

Melissa the girls are toooooo cute! I love the outfits and I'm sure Tessa's hair will stay if you wrap it up tonight. I love the look on Phoebe's face. She get so excited about mail!

Her hair lasted through the first day great, second day had a few fuzzy curls coming out around the edges. Yesterday was day three and it was acceptable for the park and that was about it. I bought a wrap a few weeks ago but it always falls off of her. I need to find another kind I guess.

Yes, yes!! I definitely DO think you should come out and hang out with us on my thread!!

I immediately went and subscribed rather than think I would do it later.:rotfl:

Welcome!:cheer2: I keep thinking about doing a TOC but then I think, nah, there's not going to be anything else exciting between now and the trip.

As "sick" as it sounds, sometimes I enjoy the "break" I get when one of mine gets a bit sick. Not sick enough to really worry, but sick enough I feel ok about lettign them skip school and camp in front of the tube. I do know what you mean about her being the "easier" one.

WHEW:surfweb: Caught up!!!
The Outfits are BEAUTIFUL and T's hair looks great!!!!

Something that I saw at WDW on my last trip and I wanted to mention to you was- Some one had bought all kinds of glow in the dark braclets and necklaces and had decorated thier son's wheel chair after reading your PTR, I can so see you doing that for P. They had laced what I think were necklaces through the spokes of his wheel chair, it was awesome and the Dollar Tree usually has them if you have one near you. I just can picture T and P drapped in glow in the dark necklaces with thier cool outfits...

Anyway just a thought :goodvibes

When you finally decide on a camera, check out B&H Camera. We got a FABULOUS deal right before Christmas on a Canon EOS Rebel with an extra lens and bag. We did a lot of shopping around, and found them to be the best price, they have a good reputation, and they offer free shipping/free returns.

A sick day with Tessa is actually quite relaxing. Although it takes a lot to get her down, so I am always worried that it's something serious, and of course, who will get it next.

One of the other wish trippers was looking for something permanent for their child's chair. I think you have a great idea for the parks. Hadn't thought of that. Thanks!

Thanks for the tip Kelly! I am going to Costco with a friend tomorrow (I don't have a membership) and will look at what they have there. DH is still pressuring me to sell one of my old cameras to help pay for the new one(s). I would be willing to let my 35mm go but I doubt it would get much. Since the weddings are still months away, I feel bad buying a pricey one now. Sigh... I wish I didn't feel guilt so easily.

Update on Movie Nights....there is none. J/K :rotfl:

It feels like we just haven't been able to plan out a week ahead of time lately so I haven't done the movie nights like I hoped. I have however, been able to introduce quite a few new ones into our rotation, that Tessa previously balked at. Driving for 4 days helped with the willingness to try some new ones, for sure. The BIG HITs are ones that she wanted to watch again and again until something new came along.

New to the kids since I started this PTR:

Toy Story, 1 and 2 (our only official Movie Night) - BIG HIT
Up - BIG HIT
The Incredibles - New Favorite
Aladdin - BIG HIT
Mulan - BIG HIT
Lilo and Stitch - BIG HIT
Mary Poppins - enjoyed through to the end
Shrek - enjoyed the whole way through
The Lion King - tolerated but not enjoyed
A Bug's Life - BIG HIT
The Cat in the Hat (and various short cartoons by Dr Seuss) - enjoyed through to the end

Still need to try:

Monsters Inc. - has seen the characters and seems interested
Pinocchio - she has no idea who this is
Lady and the Tramp - likes the trailers for it before other movies
Pocahontas - tried long ago, but not recently
Star Wars - is 4 yrs too young? She seems interested but I don't want to start too young. DH would probably say you're never too young :lmao:

Know what you mean! If they aren't prone to be a whiner and they're sick enough to be out, there's more cause for alarm.

Your movie list looks great!!

What about Peter Pan? Juliana refuses to watch that.
Bugs Life- She is scared of this.
Monsters INC & Lion King are two of her favorites.

I'm a huge Star Wars fan too!!! 4 might be a tad young. :confused3

Sorry for wishing April away. :sad2::sad2:

Tessa was not originally into Peter Pan, but the Disney Channel had Return to Neverland on one day and she got into that one. From there she got more interested and has watched most of Peter Pan a few times. She also liked one of the Tinkerbell movies, can't remember which one now.

I'll be interested to try Monsters Inc on her because one of her current faves is Monsters vs Aliens (and Incredibles, where she calls the robot a monster) so she's into "monsters" right now.

DH was 4 when Star Wars came out and he saw it in the theatre. His parents shared the story of him standing on the seat yelling at Luke to "watch out!" at one point. But I do think boys are inherently different from girls, for the most part, and our little princesses might be more afraid of the fighting and monsters. Hmmm, now that I think about it, Tessa might love it.

That's okay about April. It will be gone before we know it!

What about The Little Mermaid and Nemo? Katie loved those.

I don't think you are ever to young for Star Wars:cool1:...of course I don't have children so what do I know:confused3?????

I do know that my niece loves it and she is 3 almost 4, her older brothers(they are 12 and twins) played it for her before my brother knew it and she loves C3P0...The weirdness obviously runs in the family or as all of my brothers swear through the female part:hippie: She was never scared:woohoo: Now she wants to watch it all the time...she doesn't like the cartoon Star Wars...And she is a girly girl, into the princesses and the pink Mets cheerleading outfit I sent her...so I would have never thought she would like Star Wars
I guess you never know.

Good job on introducing some great new movies :thumbsup2 I've been the same way. Not really time to do a full movie night but we've watched tons. Made it through our whole list of must see's. I think Tessa will love Monsters Inc. as for Star Wars lets just say Im not a fan, the kids wont really sit and watch the whole movie but the do Love the light sabers and know the characters.

Lurker here...but if your daughter is into princesses, she will probably see the original Star Wars as a story about helping rescue a princess, only to have the princess save the day...just saying...

At least that is how my now 9 year old saw it the first time she saw it. She loves Princes Leia. And loves the way she saved Han Solo...

No worries on the movie nights, Melissa..we ended up the same way..you know what they say about the road to h*ll being paved with good intentions! :lmao: Piper is very much a movie girl, and without cable, she watches movies a LOT! The only thing that bums me out is that I wasn't able to get her out to see The Princess and the Frog. She's gonna see Tiana and be like "Who are you???" LOL. The rest we have covered for the most part. Try not to feel guilty..the new camera is going to pay for itself many times over!
