PRINCESS Palooza 2011! 9/9 Update: Departure Day

The picture you linked almost looks like it's the dark blue on the back with the blue/green metallic material on the front. :confused3 It definitely looks like it has some green or gold threading.

I'm not sure why I thought it was green at first. It must have been the lighting in the first set of photos I saw. I'd love to find something with gold threading but am not optimistic.

The sleeves do look interesting. This dress will be a real challenge all the way around, huh?

Yes, the sleeves will be very interesting. Those have to be right or I don't want to do it. I saw a couple versions online that others did but wasn't sold on how they did.

I know NOTHING about what type of fabric you might need or it this would work, but it looks pretty! :goodvibes

Thanks for the link! THat's very pretty and I bookmarked it. It's 100% cotton, so I'm thinking more like a quilting fabric. I could end up going with something like that but want to see if I can find something with more texture first.

awww! I'm telling on you! :rotfl2: I understand though. Sometimes it is hard to get everywhere you want and need to be. You got some fabulous shots though. I have never done the astro orbitors. I am a little intimidated by the hieght. I might try it in the future...just for photos.

See? Told you we still need to get back to 1900 PF! There are certain points on our Disney trips where I want to call the shots. So when I have opportunities, I let Katie decide. She picked everything that morning after we finished up with Mary. And honestly, if we didn't use those FP's that morning, they were going to waste. Well, not really, because we would have given them away. But she wanted to do both Indy and AO, both of which are very sloooooooowwwwwwww loaders.

It is sort of intimidating up there in the AO, but the photo ops are pretty cool. So take your motion sickness meds....... and go on up....... if you can stand that line!:lmao:

Great update! You take beautiful photos. I'm glad that you and Katie took the chance to have a girls morning in Magic Kingdom, that's a nice memory to have as she gets older. :goodvibes

Many thanks! :goodvibes Yes, it was an awesome morning and a great memory.

But the best part of the day is still to come!

Wonderful job on the Mary Poppins dress! It's beautiful!

I absolutely LOVE that picture of the Disney bus and the monorail going in opposite directions. Amazing!

My favorite shots of the update. The angle on Cindy is great. Breathes life into the bronze.

The monorail and bus shot speaks, coming and going. How awesome they lined up right for you!

We skipped and ADR once, we were just having a great time and decide to continue. I'm sure nobody missed us, and maybe some people got our table as a walk up!

That girls morning in the MK looks awesome, I love the Mary Poppins dress, it's absolutely gorgeous!! The Tremaines are just always so much fun, sucks that you didn't get to see the FGM though :( I will admit to ditching out on ADR's as well haha, sometimes it just happens!

Looking forward to the best part of the day....popcorn::
Nice update. I love me some breakfast too! In fact we like to have breakfast for dinner around here. Makes me think, dinner time is coming up soon;)

Liked the shots from the Astro Orbitor (or whatever they call it at WDW). Some unique points of view.

Thanks! Mary was my favorite from this trip. :goodvibes

And like I said, I didn't care one bit that the bus was slow in coming. It was peaceful to just sit there with my camera playing. We were the only ones at the bus stop.

Thanks Carey!

You didn't see the 30 or 40 shots of course where the bus and monorail weren't lined up as well! :lmao: Man, I love digital!

I think part of the reason I was more than happy to ditch the ADR is that I knew it was the last time I could do that (for a character meal) without a penalty. Maybe I was just doing a little of this....... :p...... at the new policy!

I really was just glad we had seen our Fairy Godmother earlier in the week. I would have been heartbroken if we had completely missed her!

We had a ball with the Tremaines. But there was still more fun to come that night.......

Looking forward to the best part of the day....popcorn::

Now you're making ME hungry! I really had my tastebuds set for breakfast so was disappointed to settle for lunch at 10:30. We probably should have just hoofed it on down to the Main Street Bakery. I KNOW they have good stuff!

Not to worry though. More good food to come!

I think they call it the Astro Orbiter there too. And it was fun to try and get some shots from the ride. I think the one I posted I actually took from the deck though, and not during the ride. I love the perspective of the park from up there.

The Mary Poppins dress is fabulous! And I love the shots you got around the park. Your details shots are so good. I really love the transportation pics.

Ms Katie is getting prettier and prettier. Just wait for those boy crazy hormones to kick in during Middle school. They weren't too bad for Danielle during 6th grade but increased this year. Still not as bad as it was with Michelle.

We finally got a JoAnn's here! I find myself there way too often. We've lost all our LSS so it's Micheal's, Hobby Lobby and JoAnn''s. In the last 3 days I've visited all 3.:scared1:

I'm not sure what sort of hat you have, but mine is done from one of those sort of fake straw hats and decorated with tulle and flowers. I just put it in the suitcase and mush it down with everhting else. I shape it when I take it out. If it doesn't spring back to life, I steam it with the iron and we're good to go.

I always do worry just a tiny bit about putting all those costumes in my luggage and crossing my fingers that it shows up. So far we've been lucky!

I made the spats (shoe covers) from a stretch white satin. It worked perfectly, although it did take me a while with a lot of trial and error to geg my pattern right.

Funny you should ask...... I just asked Katie about this the other night. We're scaling way back with all of this, but based on her reply, We'll be bringing a Merida costume with us ...... if I can get it figured out. Those sleeves do look challenging though, so don't hold me to it!

Hen Jen, old buddy, new best friend!

OMG! Isn't that hair TDF?????? If Katie were smaller, I'd TOTALLY buy the wig to go with it, but that's not happening. Still, that hair is awesome. They did a great job on the wig for the park character.

And thanks for validating me. I SWORE it looked green. Maybe it's more green in the movie? Who the heck knows.

Yeah, the cheap fabrics usually don't behave as well. I'll keep you posted on what I find.

I'd LOVE to find something with that subtle gold diamond pattern like the Disney character version. I'm sure I won't find anything like they have around the bottom, but I'd at least like a nice subtle allover effect.

Same style hat, good to know it will pop back up and thanks for the tip about steaming it!

The MErida dress, I thought it was hunter green too in the movie previews that is what it looked like to me!

Thanks Vanessa! Taking shots of the buses and monorail was a great way to pass the time waiting for the bus back to the Pop!

And thanks for the kind words on Katie. Definitely NOT looking forward to all those hormones kicking in. After 2 boys this will definitely be new territory for us. And I really think the rest of the family would greatly appreciate it if Katie and I weren't both dealing with fluctuating hormones at the same time, but I'm araid that's how it might go! :lmao:

YEAH on getting a JoAnns! Of course you know I'm in there all the time. Some weeks I make the JoAnns, Hancock and Hobby Lobby trifecta run 2 or 3 times. I do like that when I'm running in for sewing stuff I can also take a quick peet at the scrapbook stuff. Even when I don't have time to scrapbook, it makes me feel still in touch with my favorite hobby!

I'm also thinking it's the trailer that made me think it was hunter green. But the parks character definitely looks like she's wearing teal.

I hope everyone had a great weekend. I've been in major Disney planning overdrive mode. I think we're going with our same week this year in December. I just can't take a chance on missing any of the new FL stuff. I know it would just drive me nuts.

And now the best news of all...... it looks like our girlfriends will be going back at the same time too! :cool1: We're not sharing trips completely, but want to plan a return to 1900 PF, one day in the MK together, and maybe an afternoon of swimming. OK, maybe a couple more things too, but not a complete overlap of trips. I'm SO excited!

So my friend just called me up to see if the girls can wear the yellow Belle costumes to Be Our Guest (yes, we're absolutely COUNTING on getting ADRs and will be totally devastated if we don't get them!) :lmao: Katie wasn't going to bring yellow Belle back, but if her friend is along, she's game. It just seems fitting to me they wear those to the Beast's castle at least once before they're packed away for good!

I think we're staying at the Pop again. Our friends would stay at AoA. I've been back and forth on AoA...... but just can't get past all the extra walking at the end of each night.

I just saw a commercial for Brave and there are psrts wher the dress definitely looks hunter green.

Extra walking? Isn't AoA basically the same building set up as Pop?? :confused3

It is, but most of the rooms are suites. The only regular rooms are in the 3 buildings the farthest from the main hall and bus stops. It would be about the same as staying in the 90's section of the POP.

So am I just nuts for caring about that? I'm back and forth on it a lot.

Well, at least that means I'm not totally nuts. Well, not yet anyway. ;)

FUN!!!!

I'd love to go back at that time of year but DH won't have anything to do with it. Something about the importance of education... :confused3

I dunno.

Heck, I'd just be happy to get him to commit to next May for SWW. I know exactly how everything would fall into place - rent points, buy tickets from UT, go for 7 days (yes 7!), etc. However, DH won't commit until he knows what the profit share check will be. That means our chances for getting a decent resort (EP area) will be slim to none since the person we'll be renting the points from isn't DVC but RCI who can use points for DVC but I think the cancellation policy is 95% different.

It's really driving me nuts knowing should I? Shouldn't I?
